Am I the only one to truly hate this ending? Amy is poor, so now she is wanted by Arthur and he rich. Must say I am disappointed, truly disappointed.

@2poetic4words he isn´t rich. actually, it´s not made clear here what happened to the clennam fortune (which wasn´t THAT much) - because the mysterious will was supposed to leave her with at least a good portion of it, now that mrs. clennam is dead. arthur inhertis something, maybe, but he still has to pay a lot of debts. even if mr. doyce is generous, arthur surely wouldn´t let his partner pay everything. and he couldn´t marry her when she was rich, people would take him for a golddigger.

Great! Great scenery and costumes and feel to the period time. Especially liked Mr. Pancks, also young Chivery, good acting, and of course William Dorritt. I loved the ending how the business partner ended up making it in Russia to 'save the day', beautiful. Dickens sure knew how to write a plot. Won't see his like for a while.

Arthur's real mother died of grief, but the wealthy uncle, stung by remorse, left a bequest to Arthur's biological mother and to "the youngest daughter of her patron", a musician who had taught and befriended her— Amy Dorrit's uncle, Frederick. Frederick had no daughter,so the legacy goes to the daughter of Frederick's brother, Amy..

I loved this series but find myself confused at the end. Arthurs father had affars with two women and one bore a child born in the jail I guess that's Amy and Arthur was the other child born to the other woman. Doesn't that make Arthur and Amy half brother and sister?

@genegirlnz no, arthur´s father had arthur with a woman that worked on amy´s uncle theater. The grandfather of arthur left his money to the youngest daughter of amy´s uncle, but he didn´t have any daughter so the fortune went to amy, and she rejected the fortune. it´s true, the end is not very clear, but check on wikipedia and you will find out the true story

I found this tittle between movies related to Jane Austen's adaptation.. I DIDN'T SLEEP just to finish watching it!! Oh, that was perfect! It was so great when Amy said she had nothing, and would Arthur share that with her. And a kiss, finally! I thought it would be like Wives and Daughters - hours and hours and no kiss! But this was a wonderful end to the series, this is definitely going on my Christmas list! @CHR1271N3 because mean-spirited people would have said he only married her for her money. that was an even bigger issue in those days, where the man had to be the "bread winner". he would have lost his pride and social standing, and that would have reflected badly on amy.
