at the end of the video when you said you wanted a hammerschmidt crankset, look at the avid/truvativ holzfeller xr bottom bracket (an INCREDIBLY strong BB, DH, FR, whatever your trying to do with your bike) and a holzfeller crankset w/ an e13 SRS+ chainguide. instead of sram x9 shifters and cassette, try the sram 970 PowerGlide DH cassette w/x0 9 speed shifters, and Avid Elixir CR 9's for brakes w/ a 185mm rear rotor and a 203mm rotor up front. and get crankbrothers mallet 3's as pedals.
Man you exaggerate a lot cause haw does a rear cassette rip and there's no way that with the previous brakes they were hot to the point of not working
How do you like those wheels? I was thinking about getting a set for my mission 2. Are they lighter than the stock wheels? And curious how you like your tires too. Thanks
very nice work..I have a mission 2 and it's a sweet bike. I've done minimal mods as I think the 2010 components are actually rather good. Seat is very good but I changed it for a WTB Silverado, 70mm stem. It's got a bit of weight to it, but it is a burly AM FS rig right! It does climb well so long as you have a good strong engine to take you up, pedals well..again AM FS rig and not a featherweight XC HT ..but it does do it all.. All in all great bike..and comfortable to boot!
dude... i love this bike. it is pretty much the same as mine. same crank, same wheels, same stem, same brakes, x9's are on order, easton monkeylite handlebar.... weird. haha!! anyway, i am contemplating the van 36 rc2 fit in the 160 vs the 180. any thoughts? i'm leaning towards the 160... and to anyone that might be intersted in this bike, get it. climbs great and eats up the downhills
@b18bones It climbs surprisingly well it absorbs the roots and rocks sticking out of the ground and with the right tire it is unstoppable. unfortunately for me, I have a free ride tire with ramped treds so on a hill too steep it will slip, But it's nothing that can't be stopped with a better tire.
Love the bike, I've been looking into the Mission myself. Do you have any feedback on the pivot joint, pros, cons, how much wheel bob, etc. I spent a fair amount of time looking at different rear shock designs and really like the knuckle box!
@cka1799 I have found this bike amazing. There is minimal bob and it seems like a true all mountain bike, it's capable of everything. I'm shortly going to be posting more videos that show jumps with the new components on it. I highly recommend this frame, but if you really are considering buying one, in my opinion it's better to just get the frame and build it up, just because that's more fun.
@MountainShred I ended up buying to Mission 2 when I found it on sale for 50% off, couldn't pass up a deal like that. This bike will suck up the hits and give outstanding control on fast rocky downhill. I can't really compare it to other bikes out there but it works great for me and I constantly find myself pushing my limits and if I mess up the bike just sucks it up. Boost's my confidence, haha at some point that will be bad for my health.
sick bike mate!
