  • I really have to make a new kenpo kata video. I've been saying that for... how long?

  • Very nice, I love the smooth flow! Thanks for posting. This is performed more at my desired style. Good Job.

  • good flow !

  • I'm impress ! flow is quite good !

  • ive learnd short 1, short 2, and long one so far they are really cool

  • long 1 no long 2

  • im screwd like a light bulb :(

  • @BladeCrusher15 Hi. I don't know what you mean. :)

  • @amylongkenpo Its longer then what I would expect it would be

  • Very good but I think you should put more power into your moves, and maybe a little bit of aggression. e Especially into your punches, like in long 1. Then it will look amazing. Your probly a 4 dan by now, so if you've been training alot since this was made, I would imagine you've ironed put this what I just suggested.

  • looks very clean and precise. i like how you took your time with it while alot of others seem to think that the faster they can move through the form the better.

    thanks for sharing!

  • Respectfully disagree with the comment about blocking close to the body. Study a professional boxer, muay thai practitioner, or go ju stylist... close blocks allow the delts, traps, upper pecs and lats to work together in stopping or absorbing the blow. Prevents many counters as it eliminates over-extension of the arm. People who punch/block for a living appreciate the value of tight blocks.

    Nice work.

  • Nice execution and focus.

  • Hi nice form work. If I was to critizise you I would tell you that you seem to block close to your body, which won't have much effect if they were blocking something. Also in long one, the kidney shots at the end look better if you were to bring your arm up, like an upward block, and then hammer into the kidneys. When you are doing kenpo for a grade or the likes, exagerate the movement because it looks better. Otherwise this is good.

  • Gosh i miss doing those forms. i remember when Liner would make me do them 10 times each before i could go home each day. just figured i'd say whats up amy. im not sure you remember me. Its will. the young fat kid who was like 1.5 feet taller than everyone else. forms look good. keep it up.

  • great form once again amy! anything new in the work?

  • I remember first learning Short 1. I was so excited I would kiai with every block. "Huh! Huh! Hyah!" Of course I was only 10. LOL

  • I challenge you to a deathmatch- do you accept?

  • Of course. :)

  • nice job :)

The primary forms basic of kenpo. Forward stance, and blocks is mord o les. Exelente job. practice much to finish expert.

  • well can you show mw all the yello belt stuff i am training in e.p american kenpo for 3 mounths and i need to know all te stuff for yello belt! thanks!

  • How long did you study, E.P. Kenpo ?

  • I've been studying since I was 11. 29 years off and on. I did some Tracy kenpo in between in there, but most EP. I do need to re-do these videos. Much has changed in the last year and a half. :)

  • great video, Im currently learning long 1 and its nice to be able to use this medium as a check point, cheers

  • where was the power in long form one ? The forward bow showed vertually no height change from the neutral bow.

  • I'll choose to take your criticism as intended to be constructive. You're right; I needed to drop my weight. That's why I recorded these. I've worked on it considerably since then. I also needed to put more attention on coordinating my upper and lower body. :)

  • Hi, my comment was constructive and i think your other videos are excellent. Keep up the good work.

  • Very nice job.

It is interesting to see how the most basic forms have been adapted by the various "threads" in kenpo. We have the same three forms at the beginning of our "thread" of kenpo with slight modifications to the stances and transitions.

  • Excelente =D

  • Wow! That really took me back! I made it to blue belt in kenpo and for the longest time I thought the kata I learned were just invented by the guy that taught me! lol this is great!

  • That's funny! :)

  • nicely done!!

  • cool i like this a lot. I really liked Long 1 and Short 2.

  • Enjoyed watching. In terms of body torque on Long 1, you might want to think about the triple blocks as well as the forward bows. Blocks in this form can utilize torque and reverse torque at the appropriate times using upper body movements, rather then only arm movement. In Short 1 you do a good job of synchronizing body movement with your blocks. Make sure this happens even when throwing a block from a stationary stances. :-)

    Really enjoyed your Short 2...

  • Thank you! I'll take your suggestions under advisement. I've worked on long 1 since this recording to get more settling in my forward bows. I'll work on the triple blocks. I appreciate the constructive feedback.

  • Overall very good execution. I just wanted to note that where I train the Inward-Downward Palm Up blocks present in Long 1 are actually chambered in the High Chamber, cocked by your ear.

Obviously a difference in training, but interesting none the less. At any rate, keep up the good work =)

  • thanks for posting this

  • nice form - good head turns and heel alignment

  • Everything's the same. I'm glad we changed short 1 form.

  • Awesome! use more body torque.

  • Thanks. I will. I've been working on dropping harder into the forward bow and will re-record my new long one pretty soon. :)

  • Very nice!

  • same style forms as mine.
