The best qb ever. It's still phenomenal that he can feel the pressure without ever looking at the incoming de, while at the same time recognizing where the play went wrong, and keeping his eyes upfield trying to hit a receiver. And in 5 seconds.
@MrSinister718 There's a reason he's staring down his receivers on this play. It was supposed to be an inside screen to Brown off left guard. Watch the left guard during the play. He holds his position for a few seconds, then breaks up field to block the LB at the 2nd level. Peyton says "GD Donald" because he didn't run his route and Peyton had nothing to do with the ball. He couldn't even throw it away because there would have been an ineligible receiver downfield penalty.
@VeveJones007 If you think that was a screen, you're a total moron. The left guard had no one to block so illegally went up field. Not one lineman released his block. Peyton was too stupid to step up once the LT ran his defender wide. He expects Brown to go block the side where only one man is rushing in a 3 man rush? What an idiot. Move up, not back, you're already in a fuking shotgun! Typical Manning, throwing people under the bus because of his own stupidity.
@MrSinister718 The play was supposed to be an inside screen off left guard. That's why the LT let the DE go upfield off his left shoulder and why the LG started to wonder upfield after holding his spot for two seconds. That's also why Peyton didn't step up in the pocket. The Colts run this play all the time in the red zone, which is why Colts fans can easily recognize where the breakdown occurred. In fact, they just ran this same play this week to Donald Brown but he knew what he was doing.
This is strictly a pass play. The X receiver runs a 5-yard drag, while the Y receiver run what looks to be a smash route. This forces the strong-side safety to shade toward the middle of the field, which leaves the field-side flat open. The Z receiver runs a "go route," which prevents the defense from rolling coverage and keeps the boundary-side safety honest. Don has a B-gap responsibility, meaning if no rusher comes he releases to the flat.
hes clearly not saying dallas. he says donald. you know how you can tell? look at donald brown after he says it. he puts his arms up like "what did i do".
My guess is #74 (Johnson, OT) and #63 (Saturday, C) were creating a hole for #31 (god dammit donald, RB) to complete a checkdown pass. But Donald didn't get the memo.
It's still amazing how much pocket awareness Manning has while constantly keeping his eyes downfield. Left tackle Charlie Johnson and Donald Brown really fucked up their assignments.
@leroynserina he either wanted the clock to continue running, or knew that since he was out of the pocket that he was eligable as a runner and even if he threw the ball away the guy coming from infront of him had the opportunity to knock his lights out. thats my guess
@leroynserina No he had defenders in front of him to get a had on it or maybe a tipped Interception. His only option was to slide. This is why Joseph Addai is the 1st string
@rydizzle83@Jaygenius The RB is used as extra pass protection is this play. He's lined up on the left, meaning he should help block off any pass rushers from the left before blindly going to the right. Manning is mad at Donald for being no help whatsoever.
@chocolateshaaake Um, no. Manning called out Donald before he missed his block. It was meant to be a HB screen play, but Donald probably got confused and thought he had to pass protect.
Charlie Johnson?

way to step up in the pocket instead of stare down your receivers. Seriously, how do people call him the best?

@MrSinister718 Because you totally have time to stare down every receiver on your team when three or four people are about to clobber you.

The line is using a gate protection that hinges on the guard, which is why the tackle didn't just release the end of donald. It is not a screen play.
