Great series overall, but the end could be better, meaning the way Near beat Light, depending on a mistake of his helper. There was another way, even without Mikami's mistake. Since Near had the other Notebook, he could have written all the names of his partners and stated an exact time of death in the near future. In that way, when Mikami would write the same names for a second time, the wouldn't die, at least not at that moment and they would catch Mikami and Kira, sacrificing their own lives

@Charmeditty did you even watch the anime..? light didn't kill L, Rem killed L because Light practically trapped him into doing it because if Rem didn't kill L, light would have been caught by L and have been executed, which would cause Misa to be unhappy, which was Rem's biggest fear because Jealous saved her life and died for her. and if Rem killed L, Rem would die, but, because Rem cared about Misa, he killed L, and both L and Rem died.
I think Light or Kira's had the correct intention and should have won. No way N doesn't deserve to defeat Kira. It just wasn't fair. Who is he some kid, he cant compare to genius. Light is such an idiot. His goal is impossible because he is just a mere mortal he can't live for ever as shown above and even if he succeeded here he would have died from age and passed it down to some one he trusts (Only for that trust to be betrayed and defiled). Eventually after his death the book would be passed down to the wrong hands and then that person would be stopped. Simple matter of nature and balance.
Light was doing the right thing, if society had not told us about right and wrong, Light would not of been the bad guy but the good guy. @Kerorofan1990 I dont really consider what happened after episode 26 to be canon, since it feels too much like it was added just to prevent Light from winning rather than added to be a real part of the anime...
When the god of death saves her from dying by killing the other guy (and dying himself), he transfers all of his remaining life to her.
So, how much life she could have had is unknown- the god of death could have had thousands of years left to live, which would have been transferred to her, and then she halved it twice, but still could have had hundreds or thousands of years left to live.
What i hated the most was i watched the last episode from this show and thought Aw i lost one of my Anime next thing a know a few weeks later Lelouch gets stabbed and Code Geass ends.

Light is such an idiot. His goal is impossible because he is just a mere mortal he can't live for ever as shown above and even if he succeeded here he would have died from age and passed it down to some one he trusts (Only for that trust to be betrayed and defiled). Light killed lots of people but L stopped him from creating a perfect world. Light even said himself 'what is right from wrong, what is good from evil, no one can truely distinguish between them'.

When the god of death saves her from dying by killing the other guy (and dying himself), he transfers all of his remaining life to her.
So, how much life she could have had is unknown- the god of death could have had thousands of years left to live, which would have been transferred to her, and then she halved it twice, but still could have had hundreds or thousands of years left to live.

@Lelouch37 Just an opinion... L was close to solving the case, but Kira had 1 ace upon his sleeve that time... Rem... Near was only able to solve it because of Melo as he himself stated. Although I must say, L and Near's skills are not far from each other.

No, even if the Shinigami died she didn't double her life... Say she was going to be 100 years old. Then she halved her life, so it would be 50 years. Then she did it again and she now only has 25 years left.
She died when she was 26, so it makes sense.
