Those lyrics would have been in-line with the theme of the song as not allowing drama to get the best of oneself is important in light of all the negatives mentioned. I look at the song as gearing toward overcoming adversity, therefore inspiring people to let go of past misfortunes (hence drama kid).

Either way, it is indeed "let the drummer kick, let the drummer kick that" and this is a great song.
