I'm a retired 11C from the 11th SF US Army, my total training from start to finish was well over 19 month's, including cross training with Marine Recon ( a group of very cool and absolutely crazy grunts, Like me ;) ) i have noticed that the cadences between the 2 branches are very very similiar, but when you boil it all down, we all have 1 job, protect and preserve the freedoms for those who cannot. Bar room rivalry is one thing, but put us all on the same field and were all brothers

Then you would have to account for Army Basic + AIT + RIP + Ranger School + Additional training depending on your position. Rangers go through a lot more training than a basic rifleman in the Marines, although Marines Basic is harder and longer than Army basic. We should have respect for them all, because with out a doubt it is all intense.

You know I look at alot of the posts here and all I see is guys who should have spent a little more time learning how to spell. Now I am in the Infantry in the U.S. Army been in for a few years, done my time overseas and from what I have learned throughout my time is that we combat arms all fight the same fight but we have one difference. Marine's are a branch of the navy so they are more adapt to water. You guys can keep that i chose Army to stay away from it.

Therefore, in order to acquire their primary objective, making contact with the enemy is preferrably avioded. Cav Scouts are combat SUPPORT. On the other hand, the job of an Infantryman is to infiltrate and destroy the enemy objective while gathering any possible intel at the same time. You want to be a man and see combat? Go Infantry.

@longkevinusmc a ranger dont go to bootcamp. after bootcamp, the civilian becomes a soldier. then a soldier goes to ranger school where he becomes a ranger. bootcamp is 9 weeks, plus ranger school, its 2 months.... the only reason why Gen. John Pershing says a Marine is the worlds most deadliest weapon, is because he failed Ranger School.

Army Ranger training. 10 weeks Basic training, 6 weeks Infantry Training, 3 weeks Airborne School, 8 weeks RASP, and none of this includes unit training. Fuck off stupid Jarhead. Your nothing special. Rangers are commandos, Royal Marines are commandos, US Marines, are POGs, and regular grunts... Nothing more.

Marine Boot is a pipeline designed to turn civilians into Marines and has an attrtion rate of around 12%. RASP(Ranger Assessment and Selection) despite having a much tougher candidate pool(whereas Marine Boot takes in civilians, RASP only takes Sand Hill Grads) has an attrition rate of 60%. One is designed to produce an admittedly high quality service man or woman including all sorts of support staff, the other is designed to produce crack commandos. Similar my ***.

You know I look at alot of the posts here and all I see is guys who should have spent a little more time learning how to spell. Now I am in the Infantry in the U.S. Army been in for a few years, done my time overseas and from what I have learned throughout my time is that we combat arms all fight the same fight but we have one difference. Marine's are a branch of the navy so they are more adapt to water. You guys can keep that i chose Army to stay away from it.

Therefore, in order to acquire their primary objective, making contact with the enemy is preferrably avioded. Cav Scouts are combat SUPPORT. On the other hand, the job of an Infantryman is to infiltrate and destroy the enemy objective while gathering any possible intel at the same time. You want to be a man and see combat? Go Infantry.

@longkevinusmc a ranger dont go to bootcamp. after bootcamp, the civilian becomes a soldier. then a soldier goes to ranger school where he becomes a ranger. bootcamp is 9 weeks, plus ranger school, its 2 months.... the only reason why Gen. John Pershing says a Marine is the worlds most deadliest weapon, is because he failed Ranger School.

Marine Boot is a pipeline designed to turn civilians into Marines and has an attrtion rate of around 12%. RASP(Ranger Assessment and Selection) despite having a much tougher candidate pool(whereas Marine Boot takes in civilians, RASP only takes Sand Hill Grads) has an attrition rate of 60%.
