  • Hey guys I know how to turn on closed captions without iPod button. Go to video and do it! Hope that helps!

  • I have tried a few films from iTunes Stores but decided not to purchase and download them anymore.

The reason? The captioning is way too small to be readable on iPhone. They are like quarter of inch high. Apple should rework on that feature.

I usually rip lot of films that I purchase then convert them to m4v with subtitles selected. They are much more readable.

  • To get the subtitles on your iPod is very different, it doesn't have an iPod button.

  • Would it be possible to add Closed Captioning to a video?

  • i try it...

    but the subtitle doesn't appear...

    did u have another solution???

  • @msdila123 Don't know why (since there is no logical explanation) but almost all movies and TV shows from iTunes do not have closed captions. The deaf and hard of hearing community should ask iTunes why they are not using their own technology.... it might be that the content owners do the encoding and are not encoding CC's, not Apple... just a wild guess.

  • but i did but so, will it work for digital copy or another dvd?

  • @sexieekmsl Only if CC is encoded for QuickTime.

  • Can you get the closed captions at youtube on the iphone?

  • No. YouTube captions are based on Flash.

  • How about when you want to be a youtube video and you have the subs file download it separately (srt.)?

Is there a way that you can do that?

Sorry to bother you, and thank you in advance for your answer.

  • • ...to watch closed-captions from a closed-captioned YouTube video on the iPhone YouTube App? Not supported at the moment.

    • ...to closed-caption a video to view it on the iPhone or iPod Touch from a video file and an SRT file? Yes, you can. Zeitanker's Annotation Edit can import SRT files and then you can follow the export and compression instruction on this video.

  • Sorry, I mean the instructions on the video that explains how to closed-caption quicktime videos.

  • Thanks for the answer, so pretty much means that I need extra software to do so, right?

  • Thank you very much!

  • thanks man

  • It might help if I showed you an example of what I'm talking about. Google Video - Redeemer Lutheran Church Yakima Washington - has sermons translated into Spanish via. captioning. Once downloaded using Google's IPOD download button, do the captions show up? I've not been able to get them to work in a regular I-pod.

  • Technocato -

Do you know if captioning appears with videos downloaded in the manner of Google Video, where the captioning text is a separate .srt file that plays with a flash movie(later converted to mp4 for Ipods )? In otherwords, your movies have captioning embeded into the video during editing. What happens to the videos on the net with captioning operating as a separate file playing at the same time as a movie? ( I enjoyed your tutorials elsewhere by the way. )

  • i am thinking of getting iphone with 3G in june but first is it good for deaf? since at&t and apple announced their Text Accessibility Plan for people with hearing impaired (deafness) and speech impaired they offer TAP $40 monthly for unlimited usage of internet, e-mail, and whatnot

  • Why is this not in CC?

  • few days ago, there are official movies can be buy through iTunes that had Closed caption available. I watch Italian Jobs on my friend's iPhone. It work awesome.

  • good tip thanxs lol i had to get my learners in order to get an ipod touch, if i got the last question wrong i would have failed lol

  • you are welcomed... glad you made it. I hope to get a Touch for myself soon. It is the finest player on the market.
