I started a game in Visual Basic in 2001, but I abandoned it; it was too much effort and complexity for me, I was not prepared for the challenge. Then I retake it in 2007, and finished it; and it got much better than I expected. Never surrender :P
very entertaining, I think us programmers come up with something and then just go, pah! about 2 hours later sometimes.
I always end up coming up with games and then realising, a few days into R & D that I'd let myself in for more than I bargained for...but thats good because it's good to learn new techniques.
great job, was nice to see some of your not so great 'experiments', I have a few monsters in my pc closet aswell :P
We were exposed to VB programming since 12? That's just awesome. Anyway, I'm just wondering any chance any of your creation on the list were your school graded assignment?
Nothing on the list was for school, since I'm only going to school for Computer Science. However, this coming semester I'm taking their new game programming course as an elective so I will be making some sorta C#/XNA games for homework.
Sweet! I could probally make lives myself. Just easy if's and stuff I hope. I still don't know how to import pictures though. What version of C++ do you have? Express? Or do you use a complier?
I wouldn't really call it versions... The compiler I use is MinGW, under the Code::Blocks IDE. (ie, I think Visual Studio is an IDE as well, as is DevC++ and BorlandC++).
I use Allegro game library to handle graphics, input, and sound for me. You can also use SDL or, once you're more comfortable with game programming, OpenGL or DirectX.
I don't do any personal tutorial, especially via the internet, but look around my channel some more and you'll find the SB8 game programming tutorial. I have a playlist with all the videos in it.
VB? You made a personal project in VB? /me throws a trout at you. And you used the built in controls too. Using gdi32 or directX would at least be a bit nicer.
Waw good job! They look really awesome. I like in special Aora, it's it anywhere on the net :)?

I suck at C++, can you like teach me how to make a game like a platformer? With all the graphics?
fighterlegend 3 years ago
I have a tutorial teaching how to make a platformer, but it's not complete yet. It has up to having a level, character, and collision detection.

Mix of "Chicken" and "Knight".
Apparently you don't understand the brilliance.

your brilliance goes over my simple head apparently. lol.

Your ??? game looks like an old classic game named Lode Runner.
You are very good in doing sprites. You should think about making sprites for psp or ds games.
Keep posting new videos, I like watching them.
newcoleco 3 years ago
Yeah, it was going to be based off of Lode Runner, one of my favorite classics.
Atm, I'm currently enlisted as a graphics artist for GyroVorbis' RPG
