i think the only reason they do the animated bollocks was to compliment the highely priced artsy fartsy video at the start of the first gp programme, hence why the guy said each time this is formula 1 which is quite apt on its own but it was the bit on the end of the video.

Actually I've been thinking maybe the reason they use dthe animated opening was because all of the previous years' F1 footage belonged to ITV, and perhaps they would have had to pay to use it each time, and they wanted to seperate themselves from ITV as much as possible.

Which means that perhaps for 2010 they will be able to have an opening utilising clips from their own coverage in 2009

What can I say, this is a technical masterpiece my man, I applaud you.

I love the subtle combination of the main F1 audio track from Fleetwood Mac, with little splashes of sound from the racing world such as cars wizzing past at a high speed, a tyre change, the crowd.

And the visuals of course, the haze-style opening as the cars line up on the grid, the tyres screaming into life, a car on fire, and loads of quick edits between the best drivers and racing scenes.

BBC should hire you!

that just oozes the old spirit of F1 when that sort of type was used all the time.

Great job, and FAR better than the BBC's one, which is awful. Why use crap looking CGI cars when so much spectacular real footage exists? They really should hang themselves in shame. The background sound effects on their effort totally ruin The Chain, but on yours they're much more subtle.

You should check out Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' album where 'The Chain' is from. Probably THE greatest rock album of all time. As good as 'The Chain' is - there are several even better songs. 'Rumours' became the best selling album of its time and is up to 19 million copies sold in the US alone and up to 10 million in the UK. It stayed at Nr. 1 on the US Billboard charts for 31 weeks which is completely unfathomable these days. A true create and commercial masterpiece for the ages.

I have to say that I was about as keen on the official Beeb version as I was on the ITV intro which I really wasn't impressed with. This however is I think very good, congratulations to the editor of the clip it is something the Beeb should adopt. You get some of the excitement of the sport from it, something that cannot be said for the actual Beeb intro.
