The best speakers I've ever heard by a long shot are the Quad 2905 electrostatics. No, they don't go stupid loud and don't do earthquake bass but they resolve detail better and sound more effortless, natural and neutral than any I've ever heard---AND they are no where near as expensive as these and many other silly vanity products.

I just checked out the Neeper website. The attention to detail (and I mean EVERY detail) that went into designing the Perfection One is astonishing. I haven't yet listened to them. But I would expect very good things.

I liked my Yamaha NS 690's until the woofer surrounds went south. I haven't been able to find anything comparable so I ended up going to the pawn shop and picking up a $160.00 pair of Quest speakers.... Any ideas re: cheap, but relatively good sounding boxes????

These speakers use Scan Speak Relevator drivers which are one of the best. Depending on your woodworking skills, you can build something similar with the same drivers for the fraction of the price.

B&W speakers aren't the best nor is any speaker. It's a CHOICE, anyone who says it is makes them BIAS! what sounds good to you may not sound good to another. It's more than frequency response and what's on a graph. It's more than cabinet build. There are different drivers and different concepts. Obviously some of you are IGNORANT of the MANY high end systems past and present that were considered BEST according to the reviewers. For some it's planars or electrostats, for some it's horns etc.

I made my own speakers, with vifa pl midwoofer seas tweeter and high end bass woofer into a 2.5 system. and you get the best sound for your money. this is how you get high end sound. I have spoken.

I have to say, that these are no where near the best in the world. People don't truely know what tweeters, squakers etc are really for. Different speakers (with proper amp etc not marketed crap) can project the sound and give the listener a different soundstage. That is height, width and depth of the image. speakers with good design can make transaural imaging which can put the listener exactly center no matter where they listen from. Also make it sound above and even behind the listener.

as i said before, there is no tweeter, however they do use scanspeak. they us a ScanSpeak 12M/4631G as what you say is a tweeter and 2 ScanSpeak 18W/4531G for woofers. no tweeter. my friend owns a pair of these. il upload a video of them if you like showing them with NO TWEETER!

The moog synthesizer of the 70's got to just below 21Hz. About the lowest a human can hear. There was a number of quality speakers, (Now Vintage) that delivered.

Advent, Altec Lansing, and Boston Acoustic to name a few. You saying vintage speakers can't handle the bass, sounds more like you just wanting to hear yourself talk. You're making assumptions based on ignorance. I bet you do that a lot. I bet you'll continue to do that.

I speak what I know of after building speakers since 1976.

We can't truly compare fairly IN A\B test, because old speakers are like tiers, they wear out and lose their rigidity and color tone.

We agree the best is still to be invented. We can still easily tell the difference between real voice and speaker. Old speakers DO have a Warmth that the digital world has left behind.

Not a question of bass, but what color you enjoy.

i agree that mbl speakers are incredible. i also agree to what you say about the English brands (the reason is not that they're english but the prob is that they're way too popular which makes them have a bad value). But, mbl isn't the only brand that sounds out of this world, other people believe other brands are perfect, like Avantgarde, Avalon, The Gryphon etc. It's also depending on personal taste, and most people say therefore, there is no such thing as the best speaker in the world.

@23chilled - B&W Nautilus are an excellent loudspeaker but to say they are the best is a vague statement. Brands like Dynaudio, Avalon Acoustics, Wilson Audio, Focal and a lot more are very highly regarded brands (to name a few). ProAc and brands like Vienna Acoustics are pretty high up there too.

In 2003 B&W bought Ludvigsen in Agerbaek, to produce their cabinets. They just closed the factory and moved it all to china.

Hornslet produces cabinets for Dali, Neeper, Audio Physics, Linn and more.
