  • Wow... giving advice on giving advice... "You just wrinkled my brain."

This really is good advice on giving advice though. #ImCurrentlyCatchingUpOnMyMostFavoriteChannels #ILoveMeSomeFizzyLimon <3

  • Found you. Op'ing waiting room 2 are we now?

  • Great advice on advice, keep up the advice!

  • is he mormon?

somebody tell me. he reminds me of a mormon.

  • is he mormon?

somebody tell me. he reminds me of a mormon.

  • I just go to Peter for advice :D But this is good advice for when he's not available!

  • Yay! My friend texted me today "I just saw you in a fizzylimon video". It made me smile, also I told all the people in my English Society about it because that's where I got the shirt. :)

  • I find that a lot of the time that people have already made up their mind but haven't realised it yet, and because of that when they explain the situation to me by saying it out loud they realise they don't actually need my advice :P

  • Good advice, eh. I'll try to apply all this in my advice giving of the future.

  • I actually think this was remarkably well said.

  • good advice! don't forget tha body language is a huge portion of all communication & paying attension to those non-verbal cues can help guide your advice/support session.

  • That's why it's called the post-box, because it's full of information.

This is great advice that a lot of people should use on a daily basis (like my mom).

    =)

  • The me of a few years ago really needed this advice on giving advice. Since then I've mostly figured this stuff out for myself, although I could never explain it so articulately. =)

  • This was the best advice video about advice I've ever seen, and the only one. ;)

  • Well said. I've been doing this for a while. Everyone at my school comes to me with their problems, and usually all I have to do is listen to them and it helps.

  • Steve you didn't listen to me for that whole video! Infact you broke all of your rules! Haha, no good video I was pretty interested as I seem to be giving advice a lot recently.. Glad to see your face again and WE MUST SKYPE SOON :)

  • Mwahaha yes it's true advice means listening for a long time, you seem to have had some long chats Steve by the gritted teeth!

  • Well said, Steve :-)

  • I really like your vidoes. I found you only a few days ago but i really like what i've seen of you :-{)

  • I really like your videos. I just found you a couple of days ago and I really like your content.

  • I like your face. It's good to see it again. =)

  • If you are listening three times as much as you are talking, ur in pretty good shape with advice skills. Good advice bud.. I agree with you on ur points and they work, cuz ive used them before :)

  • I've got the bad advice covered, and you've got the actual advice -- we make a good pair!

  • oh steve its been far too long :/ You were like a friend in the summer and now its great to see you again as your such a great youtube personality :)

  • Ah I was wondering where you were earlier today. Glad to see you're still alive :)

  • you just made my little social work heart flutter!

    solution-focused FTW.

  • Yes! As much as I give horribly bad advice, when I'm asked about serious situations I follow this method as well. Completely agree with offering suggestions and options. And even sometimes when someone says they just want to be told what to do, you may not want to be the person to have that much power over their decision making.

P.S. I read the blog first...and I thought this was going to be a vid of your senior recital, which it's not. Nonetheless I was happily satisfied by its actual content.

  • That kinda sounds like how my friends get me over writers block. This works for all kinds of situations! You're so helpful!

  • This is great advice and I hope that many will take it.

You're right. Most of the time when my friends say that I've really helped them with something, all I've done was listen and ask questions. People often have the answers to their own questions, they just need someone else to help them draw those answers out.

  • I love that a load of KeepOrJot videos appear in the related section :D

Also, this is really really go advice. Thanks :)

  • Why is YouTube giving me an error message when I try to post a comment?!

Anyway, I definitely like that you started off with this one. I feel that, for me, my friends don't come to me for advice but more as an outlet for whatever it is they're going through. I don't think I've been asked for advice in, well, ever. hahaha

  • Yay Steve is back! I've missed these videos!

This is basically what I was taught to do when I was a student counselor- helping people figure it out for themselves and not just telling them what to do!!

    Glad your back!

    Thumbs up!!

    *cheers content!*

Sometimes people may also be interested in having you fix the problem for them. So you have to make sure they understand that you're not going to be doing that. Teach a horse.

I completely agree. Sometimes the best advice is they get the proper help from someone who's more qualified to answer.

    :)

  • "It's all about helping your friends making decisions, not making the decisions for them!" YES, STEVE! Thank you! This was brilliant! :)
