Ehh it was worth a listen. I should've guessed I wouldn't love this because I don't like the Beatles and I don't like Jay-Z. The Mouse and the Mask is still the shit.
I'm a huge Beatles and Danger Mouse fan, though i hate Jay-Z ("Gangsta" has never been my bag) but Danger Mouse seriously DJ'ed the shit out of this album.
better than the orginal, I remember buying this mixtape by accident off a chinese lady at KFC in jersey back in 2003. I thought it was the black album until I heard it now I'm glad I bought it

@francaisemusique because so far as i know, he never attempted to make a profit off the album (other poeples work) he was however served with many cease and desist orders. if he, or you, attempted to sell the music, you could be sued
i keep trying to like this guy...let me know why! he eats the scraps out the beatles toilet!!! at least he has good taste in music (beatles)...too bad he doesnt apply it to his...SUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@MegaJdl1 Jay-Z had nothing to do with this album, that's why he's illegal. Personally I find this album as one of the best mashups I've ever heard, and I'm not even a big Jay-Z fan; the Black album I wasn't into, but this Grey Album here? Flawlessness
Tired of the beatles. Great music but the way rights holders use and abuse outdated copyright laws is just depressing. Not sure Lennon would apporve. Who knows though, maybe he'd have sat grinning on piles of money giving a big old finger to the dream of a future where children aren't born into unjustifiable income because their great grandaddy wrote a popular tune.
@johnpublius yep, it was dangermouse using JZ's vocals from the black album (freely given to anyone to use afaik) and music from the Beatles "white album" (Which you had better pay for or more lawyers than you have ever seen will decend on you and your family). Dangermouse proved he was a musical badass of epic proportions and in doing so created a great work of art that is illegal.
@dappercad So no one should be entitled to income their ancestor has earned? If someone invented something, their children should not be able to earn money on that patent after the inventor has died? Should they be able to earn money from investments they didn't make or businesses they didn't start? I'm not sure where you draw the line on "unjustifiable." That's basically any money you didn't earn yourself. What do you propose happens to your money after you die?
@AppleCorp3 Conflating copyright with physical property is exactly the problem. Investments and businesses are made of objects and people and money none of which can be in two places at once, copyrighted materials are, quite literally, subject to different laws. As of right now they have an expiry date, are you arguing that they shouldn't? Cont...
@dappercad Are you arguing that the Beatles should have paid the distant descendant of the inventor of plumbing, or someone who bought the patent of him as part of the fee for a house? At some point all copyrightable, patentable or trademarkable material must move into the public domain for a culture to function. With other property this is not necessarily the case.
@dappercad I guess the issue that I had was with the term "unjustifiable" income. As if for some reason descendents shouldn't be entitled to money and earnings their family members worked for. There are countless families in the world that are wealthy and have never worked because they inherited it. So? And if the copyright is still in force, the families of the Beatles should still be able to earn from it, or their image, or whatever they can earn from. There's nothing wrong with that.
Yeah, heaven forbid the dicks at EMI allowed this sick shit distribution. Certainly wouldn't want to promote that 40-something-year-old Beatles material to a new generation of fans of Jay Z and hip hop in general. Totally irreverent to those most-hallowed Bugs too. You just know Lennon would never experiment with recording like this. All that backwards music and backmasking was just accidental.
i'm sorry, are you all trying to put The Beatles on a different level than Jay-Z? @elbowwonfire@ABOM420 Now THAT should be illegal. don't get me wrong, The bugs revolutionized music, but they aren't more than four pop stars who just did a bunch of shit first (hence the revolutionize). All of my musical taste aside, a TASTEFUL piece of art like this is the reason i still have faith in music today.
@kodenkandathable Do everyone here a favor, Pull up your pants grow up and leave others opinions alone if you are allowed to have opinions then so do others and yes the Beatles are on two different level hence the reason they aren't the same type of music Jay z is good but so are the Beatles frankly I would listen to the older music than this new joke they call music honestly danger mouse ruined both albums with one song I call that a waste of time trying to make an album I would never but it.
@xxwillfirexx No he didn't, music is evolutionary, and revolutionary. Music will not stagnant with time, and expecting it to is to expect civilization and culture to stop producing.
@kodenkandathable did they revolutionize music, or are they the poster child of the musical profession for an inevitable cultural change? neither Jay-Z nor the Beatles should be held higher than social and cultural change that happened while popular...it's like saying the Ramones and Slayer are revolutionary...they were at the right place at the right time when the culture took notice...the counter culture that made them popular, that's the revolution
@ABOM420 actually he spent a lot of time in this, and it's really pretty good, i think. many people think it's his definitive work, definetly one of dm's best
this dude ROCKED the black keys, and every other song produced for others is INSANE. but anything he puts his name on, anything his style, just makes me sick to the pit of my stomach. ...idk how to describe it. its just so off cut, basic, and sounds like pop tart SHIT. idk if its just gray album. but this is like the ninth time ive tried to look up his OWN music and its just everywhere with absoulte trash lyrics. i have no idea wht the hell this is. i guess its just his style i dont like
People need to stop talking about how remixes/mashups/chopped and screwed/cover versions of songs are ruining them. Think more about it as a form of flattery, a tip of the hat to the true original.
@SirCheezey What about when the next generation comes and knows nothing about the ORIGINAL concept and why the remix is as acclaimed as it is? Does that not then disrespect the artist and his/her art... because their idea was taken and changed... in a sense it come off as though it wasn't good enough the way it was..
@AleksaBee Then that's the generation's fault, it's obvious that most of this generation isn't going to have that type of musical taste, but you can't truly love a remix without giving notice to the original. Either way, no disrespect can come from adding your own personal touch to an original to make it your own.
Check out the dj ellipsis mashup of the orig 99 problems with Jeff Beck's "Roy's Toy". Another take on a great track... Not as good as the orig, but AMAZING nonetheless.

I think this improves greatly over the original (99 Problems). This is not a remix of Helter Skelter, it just uses the music and the drums are sampled for a new beat.

I think this improves greatly over the original (99 Problems). This is not a remix of Helter Skelter, it just uses the music and the drums are sampled for a new beat.
