I remember watching and taping this live. Plant's band blew down doors, while the Zeppelin reunion tanked. Two observations: (1) Plant looked like he was enjoying himself much much more with his solo band than he did with his old bandmates (2) I never thought I'd see the day where Plant would be using backing tapes. lol

Re: Doug Boyle, I don't know the story at all, so can anyone tell me why Plant stopped working with him? I also think Plant's solo work is excellent - even Shaken n' Stirred, which is much maligned, but I think has a great mid-80s sound to it that remains pristine to this day. He seems like a very interesting character, this Plant fellow.

An experience which left Boyle with contrasted memories. "Robert respected the fact that I could play, but not that I was trying to find my own style. For my own part, I was pretty arrogant and uncompromising at the time, and didn't respect the fact that he was paying me good money to do what he felt was right!... Eventually, I was kicked out of the band".
