This is one of my favorite concerts of all time. From headbanger to funkateer. I came to visit my parents one summer and wore the video out, literally !
I Think Sinbad should comeback and do a 80s soul festival not dat zapp n roger werent popular inda 80s cause dey were rip roger but really do an 80s soul festival cause we all know da 80s had great music and artists 2 speakin of da 80s bigup 2 da legends of rap tour which is bout 2 hit my town cant wait 2 see it yeah.
Nothing can ever compare to me finding this tape at my Granny's house in Cali and bringing it back to Cincinnati and watching it....Even at a young age I knew I had witnessed musical greatness! Zapp and Roger are one of the greatest bands to ever perform, record....Whatever you wanted, they could do.
OMG we didnt have Roger long enough Youre missed Mr. Troutman but youre teaching the angles how to use that talk box and you got Jesus patting his foot!!!!!
no kidding! you have to be good on the keys, you have to be able to sing at the same time (or at least speak rythmically), and you have to be black and funky.
You're right about that, I can't find any Johnny "Guitar" Watson talkbox videos, I have a few songs that he does the talkbox like "Your Love is My Love", "Come and dance with me", "Feel the Spirit of my guitar" just to name a few. Wait a minute, is Shirley Murdock Singing in the background or am I buggin' out.
I really don't understand. Roger used a talkbox, T-Pain uses an auto tune. They may sound alike but they are two totally different things. People always seem not to understand that, they are/were great at what they do
He's not saying T-Pain used a talkbox. In an interview T-Pain said he was inspired by Roger and wanted to sound like him. So without Roger to inspire T-Pain, there wouldn't be the same T-Pain today if at all.
@HBCUHeadDrumMajor Autotune is to make singers that can't hit a note sound flawless but by tweaking it you get T pain style ..the talk box you have to play the notes on a keyboard
Im from Dayton,OHio, and i do believe their names were mike and roger, not larry,i think larry was an uncle, but anyway i think mike shot roger.someone correct me if iam wrong.
Down right awesome. The definitive quintessential funk. Roger was the shit. Dayton Ohio representin big time. Don't get much better. Love ya and miss ya Roger. Damn!
yeh its well worth the search. he does other versions of songs that put them into another dimension. run a search on the net for it you will find it although that tend to be difficult to locate. i did have one butit grew legs and have been unable to get another - that was ten years ago and im still searching. even the songs are hard to find on the net.
PT II is the bomb!! it has stuff on it that is not on any of his other albums. he does a remake of EASY by the commodores and just blows everything else away.
Man Zapp was tight here in Virginia Sept 2,2006 Roger would be proud. They put on a great show along with Midnight Star and Kool and the Gang. Check out Zapps website. www.zapptown(dot)com
I'm looking forward to buying this video but it keeps saying 'not available'.
Sinbad Soul Music Festival: Zapp & Roger (2005) / AMAZON.COM
I'm assuming that this video is a full length version of the Zapp performance in Summer Jam but as it has been saying unavailable for a while, I'm hoping that the Zapp fans will all try to book it and have it actually sold.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs!!! This song was simply an ANTHEM for funk lovers the world over!!! This song changed the way I viewed music forever and I was only in the 5th grade!

yeah i mean it sounds so good cause he can actually sing with out the talkbox.

But don't forget, it takes more skill to use a Talkbox than it does to use Autotune.
