  • This is one of my favorite concerts of all time. From headbanger to funkateer. I came to visit my parents one summer and wore the video out, literally !

  • Damn my mom made me and my sis watch this special when it came on hbo.. lol I don't regret it. RIP Roger

  • 4:19 thats west coast swag right there

  • WHY does this only have 93,000 views?

  • I Think Sinbad should comeback and do a 80s soul festival not dat zapp n roger werent popular inda 80s cause dey were rip roger but really do an 80s soul festival cause we all know da 80s had great music and artists 2 speakin of da 80s bigup 2 da legends of rap tour which is bout 2 hit my town cant wait 2 see it yeah.

  • god on stage !

  • Funky

  • COOL AND FUNKY ROGER AND ZAPP!!!!MG

  • Nothing can ever compare to me finding this tape at my Granny's house in Cali and bringing it back to Cincinnati and watching it....Even at a young age I knew I had witnessed musical greatness! Zapp and Roger are one of the greatest bands to ever perform, record....Whatever you wanted, they could do.

Big ups to Ohio, we keep it rockin'!

  • I will like to go this concert. Great performance. AMA should learn from the pros.

  • Roger.....da man!

  • OMG we didnt have Roger long enough Youre missed Mr. Troutman but youre teaching the angles how to use that talk box and you got Jesus patting his foot!!!!!

  • now thats a P-A-R-T-Y song

  • amazing performance but wtf were they wearing?

  • Roger Was It ! The 80s &90s.Lets not forget Zapp though..More Bounce still one of the best. This Jam was smokin'

  • SO wish I was there.

  • yeah i mean it sounds so good cause he can actually sing with out the talkbox.

  • But don't forget, it takes more skill to use a Talkbox than it does to use Autotune.

  • no kidding! you have to be good on the keys, you have to be able to sing at the same time (or at least speak rythmically), and you have to be black and funky.

  • @RaldyV uhh..... it requires NO skill to use autotune.. you sing... (out of tune) and the producer uses autotune on top

  • talkbox is so cool!!

  • nobody will beat this guy using a talkbox

  • ICON.

  • WOW. I remember this. I was there!!! LOTS OF FUN!!!

  • Classic !!!

  • the best !!!

  • the Bomb

  • started what ?!!!

  • We all know this song started it all.

  • SO FUNKY

  • great music!!!

    RIP BROVA!!!

  • ..in the cityy..city of LA!.. (lol)

I wish they were still alive..

    R.I.P Roger The Great :-)

    R.I.P PAC!

    R.I.P BIGGIE!

  • Yey! Since everything has gone down the toilet since the big 3 you spoke on.

  • best talk boxer in the world.

  • CA Fo' Life!

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...........

  • dang how he do his voice is sick i love it

  • It's called a talkbox. You use it to distort your voice.

  • oh yeah i was wondering what the little hose was for

  • youre also forgetting that Peter Frampton did it wayyyyy before Roger too...songs called Do You Know How We Feel...

  • Actually Stevie Wonder, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, and Rufus used the talk box before Roger BUT......Roger took it to another level and killed it!!!!!

  • You're right about that, I can't find any Johnny "Guitar" Watson talkbox videos, I have a few songs that he does the talkbox like "Your Love is My Love", "Come and dance with me", "Feel the Spirit of my guitar" just to name a few. Wait a minute, is Shirley Murdock Singing in the background or am I buggin' out.

  • RIP Roger Troutman And 2ac

  • Where you at Sugar Daddy?

  • There will be no T-Pain if it wasn't for this man..........

  • I really don't understand. Roger used a talkbox, T-Pain uses an auto tune. They may sound alike but they are two totally different things. People always seem not to understand that, they are/were great at what they do

  • He's not saying T-Pain used a talkbox. In an interview T-Pain said he was inspired by Roger and wanted to sound like him. So without Roger to inspire T-Pain, there wouldn't be the same T-Pain today if at all.

  • @HBCUHeadDrumMajor Autotune is to make singers that can't hit a note sound flawless but by tweaking it you get T pain style ..the talk box you have to play the notes on a keyboard

  • @dsoulman77 Autotune has nothing to do with talkbox at all, not even close to the same thing.

  • am white but u can relate with me when i say there are some fineee ass black girls like on 00:22 damnnnn

  • that man talking about christ above look kinda like mr.brown from meet the browns haha

  • u talking bout big rob he do look like mr.brown lmao

  • LMAO BIG ROB DO LOOK LIKE MR BROWN

  • Larry(1944)

    Roger(1951)

    Lester(1955)

    Terry(1960)

    Rufus(?)

Those were the FIVE troutman brothers!

  • It was roger and larry.

  • Im from Dayton,OHio, and i do believe their names were mike and roger, not larry,i think larry was an uncle, but anyway i think mike shot roger.someone correct me if iam wrong.

  • No,no....Roger and Larry are brothers. LARRY shot his brother, ROGER. Larry shot himself last. I read the story on the website on "Zapp Band."

  • it was 4 brothers roger, larry, lester, terry aka zapp larry shot roger over money issues cuz larry was rogers manager then larry shot himself

  • No... there were 5 brothers: the fifth brother was Tony (I think)... but someone correct me if im wrong.

  • i think it was a tony im not sure but i'll find out

  • It's sad that his brother did that over money, really sad.

  • yoo i willing to pay 4 it also

  • Zapparr, man you have to tell me how I can get a copy of this classic concert?? willing to pay for a copy!!!!

  • i got this on vhs bro

  • you for real? part II?

  • The only thing about that is it doesn't have the long versions on it which is a BIG shame.

  • zapp & and roger were cool cuz they made alot of cool music and cd

  • just Fabulous

  • str8 gangsta

  • I recorded a couple of these HBO shows to VHS when they were first broadcast -- awesome shows!!!

  • Down right awesome. The definitive quintessential funk. Roger was the shit. Dayton Ohio representin big time. Don't get much better. Love ya and miss ya Roger. Damn!

  • Did Roger die?

  • Yes,he was shot by his brother Larry in 1999.

  • yeh its well worth the search. he does other versions of songs that put them into another dimension. run a search on the net for it you will find it although that tend to be difficult to locate. i did have one butit grew legs and have been unable to get another - that was ten years ago and im still searching. even the songs are hard to find on the net.

  • PT II is the bomb!! it has stuff on it that is not on any of his other albums. he does a remake of EASY by the commodores and just blows everything else away.

  • I agree. I like the re-make that Roger did for the song " Midnight Hour "

  • have you got the greatest hits pt II?

  • This video had been tape recorded from the broadcast on cable TV in the US.

I'm also waiting for the official DVD to be sold but it seems like it's not coming for sometime.

  • Zapparr

How do you get this video? Probably the best Sinbad summer jam. EWF, KC and Sunshine BAnd, Isaac Hayes

I also have been checking and is unavailable.

  • Man Zapp was tight here in Virginia Sept 2,2006 Roger would be proud. They put on a great show along with Midnight Star and Kool and the Gang. Check out Zapps website. www.zapptown(dot)com

  • I'm looking forward to buying this video but it keeps saying 'not available'.

Sinbad Soul Music Festival: Zapp & Roger (2005) / AMAZON.COM

I'm assuming that this video is a full length version of the Zapp performance in Summer Jam but as it has been saying unavailable for a while, I'm hoping that the Zapp fans will all try to book it and have it actually sold.

  • This is one of my all-time favorite songs!!! This song was simply an ANTHEM for funk lovers the world over!!! This song changed the way I viewed music forever and I was only in the 5th grade!

  • GREAAAAAT

    R.I.P
