very inspiring, i hope when i reach that age im still lifting!! theres no better feeling in the world!!! these guys prove, it doesnt matter what yr age, you can stil get psyched and lift heavy!!! good work guys, and thanx!!!
What a neat gym and great bunch of guys! Great to see! From my limited experience powerlifting is just as much mental as physical. These men help each other work through both aspects. Great job!!
I miss that sound from the old 45s of my gym, these guys changed them for the new stuff, they suck not only they don't look good they take more space than the old ones.Maybe I shouldn't bitch and move to an other gym.
you can just do the normal amount of sets and reps as you would do on a standard bench press or you could incorporate pause presses in after standard bench workin pauses up to a 3 to 5rm
every once in awhile to use them i heard was good i dont use them but supposedly its the best way to build explosive strength on the bottom of the lift
he doesnt touch and go on the box squat because it wouldnt be a box squat if he did, your supposed to sit back on the box not sit down, pause and squat up. the box squat is equivalent to the floor press for upper body strength
Bro what is this guy talkin about a bodybuilder wants to be big, not all bodybuilders just want to be big!, they want to be proportional, lean, without a gut look at frank zane he wasent that big but ask anyone if he was a bodybuilder though
Thats what its all about...he didnt mention much about the mental aspects of this kind of training which wouldve been even better.still though, its a pretty awesome vid
You've got some great videos up here, but this one is clearly your best. I really like that shot of the airplane flying overhead. (I think it's a little insensitive with the events of 9/11 - but whatever) My only other criticism is your lack of your lack of a soundtrack. I know when I lift, I listen to a lot of sludge metal (Deathkill 666, The Abortionists, Death Disposal & The Llama Turds, to name a few) and think that some of their music could have done nothing but to help your film.
Archimedes was the brillant mind behind boyancy and architecture, does that mean no one is qualified to show, comment, or teach his knowledge or his methods?
Every one in power lifting circles copies, or adapts Westside's training methods.
I doubt that they achieve the results of Westside's lifters because their compromised training methods have strayed from the original- Westside's training methods.
Louis Simmons - the pioneer of power lifting- is the only person qualified to comment or show the Westside training method.

pause press (bench normal but when you bring the bar to your your chest hold it for a 2 sec. count)it has worked for me
alexgilps 4 years ago
Do you triple and then go for a single max with this method?
hali9999 4 years ago
you can just do the normal amount of sets and reps as you would do on a standard bench press or you could incorporate pause presses in after standard bench workin pauses up to a 3 to 5rm

Thanks for that. In which way do you think weight releasers help for the bench?

How come he pretty much sits down on the box squat instead of just touch and go?

build starting strength in the bottom position of the squat
