There's no way anyone could do this without Quina's 'Night', all the Yan are asleep when it starts. I guess if it's a Boss in Mook Clothing you need killing Quina's the one. Whether it be Grand Dragons with Lv 5 Death, Night on Yan, a powered up Frog drop on Tonberries, Bad Breath to neuter the Earth Guardian, and Limit Glove to kill bosses though disc 2 in one hit.
Hmm... I'm not sure if my powerlevel method was lazier or not. It was certainly earlier in the game, though. I was taking out Grand Dragons on disc 2 (without Limit Glove, too). I got the Reflect Ring in Treno, then had everyone in my party learn Auto-reflect. The Grand Dragon's MT Thundaga will bounce back and hit him for over seven-thousand. Couple that with a thrice-focused MT Reflected Blizzara from Vivi (full nines), Antibody, and a little luck (that damned Venom Claw...), and you're good.
the best way for fast lvl is learn Dead lvl5 with Quina, eating a Whale in the east of the second continent (i dont remember the name of the continent but is in the continent of the black wizard's village), then go to Gizamaluke and where the Great Dragons and use dead lvl 5, they die instantly and give much experience, when the character is in lvl 99, infect it with virus and the other 3 characters will win more experience..

2. it is'nt actually possible to complete the game with all characters at level 1 because of the fights with zidane and different members of the party in pandemonium. u must gain exp unless u can somehow get hit with zombie.

@chriss2112 holy shit... this game is 11 years old and people are still ignorant to how to play lol. This is doable and very easily too. Go to GameFAQs and look at some guides and educate yourself on how he has done this.
@sonytekkno It's a low level challenge. Keep the character out of the party at all times and if they are forced to be in the party, kill them off so they don't get any experience. You can easily have two or three characters very high levels and the rest at very low levels.
Obvously he did this for Quina and Vivi. But he's been using Garnet to get this far in the game.

it's not about level, it's all about junctioning... it's a shame i lost my FF8 data. i couldve shown you my 100 hours of card game just in disc 1 to get all ultimate magic and ultimate weapons without leveling up... basically i just used lionheart against all bosses starting from disc 1 + EncNone ^__^

the ultimate goal of playing these RPG games is to get EVERYTHING that means MAXING OUT AND GETTING EVERYTHING and to do that you need to do a level 1 run to max out stats.

@renfrowm It would be hard, yes...but beating Final Fantasy 9 at low levels is totally doable and has been done dozens of times before. There are plenty of guides out there for those of us that want a challenge.

Doomsday is easy to defend against with shadow-blocking equipment, I believe I used an Egoist's Armlet here. Comet has inherent inaccuracy, one out of every three will miss on average, level and magic evasion have nothing to do with it.
@1whoistornapart Yeah well how come this guy have doomsday in level 11 tell that. Doomsday is an ablility that is learned from Zeuz's mace. But it is obtained just before the fight before the fight with trance Kuja.
@theburnedheart It's quite possible to get the mace of zeus, and beat the game as well, at level 1. It's not nearly as difficult as it sounds, and people have been doing it for about 8 years now.
Also, to be more precise, the mace is on the screen before Lich. Trance Kuja is still two bosses away.
@1whoistornapart Yeah i know that it's possible to beat the game with level 1, my cousin beated ff 8 with characters level about 2. And i knew that it was before Lich but i just didn't remember the name. Still i was kind of surprised when somebody goes using doomsday in level 11. I had my characters level 11 in Gizamaluke or before that.
@1whoistornapart I noticed that when you have float, comet misses always, have you noticed this? Im not sure though I have not played ff9 in about 5-6 years maybe.
I remember when I was grinding on the Grand Dragon the one time. My party was around level 36, they all had Auto-Reflect on and Vivi had Reflect x2 on. A spread Blizzard over the team did 8500 damage and killed the dragon in a single shot.
Also, since I'm asking questions: I was pretty sure you could cast your magic on multiple enemies in a battle at once, rather than one at a time. Same thing goes for casting spells on your party.. is there a way to cast on everyone at once, rather than one at a time as well? I was sure FFIX was the game you could do this in.
Yeah, you can target multiple enemies. That's what I meant by "spread over my team." I had Vivi target the whole team with the basic Blizzard spell and blew the dragon to kingdom come. :P
As for your question about casting on all (ally and enemy alike), you can't do that with normal spells. You need something like Vivi's Doomsday spell (Learned from his ultimate weapon Mace of Zeus, which is obtained from the chocograph for the mountain peak by the Evil Forest). Hope that helps. :D
Sorry, I've been playing this game non-stop. About level 40 midway through disc 3.. it's time for me to grind before going any further. Where's the grand dragons? And if the yans are the best exp in the game.. how do you get a gold chocobo to go to the island in the middle of the ocean? I don't know how to get a gold one?? Also, what level is needed to kill Yans? Or Grand Dragons ..?
i just kept fighting grand dragon when i first got to gizamalukes grotto which is like disc one i think ... anyway just get everyone to equip antibody and auto-reflect. get vivi to cast blizzard/blizzara on the entire party, dragons are weak to ice plus casting it on party strengthens it 4 times ! =], dragons stupid, if your lucky it would cast thundaga and in like 1 minute of fighting it'll be dead, i got to like level 60 by the time i got bored of training xD
grand dragon's give like....35k to a single character, if you have "level up" it's even more. all you need to do is get virus on 3 characters and then have quina cast level 5 death on it. it can be acessed through the gizamiluk's grotto or w.e on disk one if you go up the ladder near the save moogle and the little traveling moogle.
40 lvls needed till 99 and i hate playing on quina...Its rly annoying to play on him but i think he's good at fights...i just wonder how the hell some guys made it to garland at lvl one...I had trouble at lvl 37 xD buut well i've been up to get chocobo gold and nao ima go train every char 99 ;D
Man, I wish I had known about that period. I usually just leveled on whatever. Friend of mine leveled up on Grand Dragons on the cliffs from Freya's area. Quina using Limit Break with 1 hp, very fun :P or just get Ragnarok and Shock them and level up from that since IX doesn't have level requirements for the weapons/armors ^_^
you can encounter yans at vile island . it is the isalnd in the middle of the map.. Also use night and only magic attacks to prevent them from waking up because they use snort and float as a counter .. snort htrows a character out .. they also use meteor ehich inflicts random damage usually above 4000 for more info ask me

if you want, you can get level 99 in one fight
in oil vert (or whatever this messed up place is called) there are this stone monsters called epitaph (im playin the german version, so i dont know what they are called in english) they create copys of your characters until they die. each copy gives you like 1500exp, and you can kill as many of them in a fight as you want... so if you have no life, you can kill 2000 of them ;)
The best part was Quina's victory dance at 3:05 lol :P

since Vivi has no cover abillity equep him with " Coral Ring "
8- in battle every member has his own job
but it depens on the GD actions so let Queina 1st attack with her " Limited glove" spell
after that use the command eat the GD will be defeted but to preform the 2nd attack 4 Queina
the GD would not u let u get away with this

5- change ur battle configuration sittings
in the menu change the ATB to active and make the battle speed faster and the crosser in memorized mood .
6-Orgenized ur items u gona use a lot of phoenixdown but if u orgenize ur item order
u will use them faster because the Grand dreagon bitch is dammn fast .
7-u should orgenise ur team but 1st let Queina's HP=1
gaurd all ur party with antibody immunity
equep Zidan with "protect girls " and freay with "cover" abillity

let freay win the contest so u earn the " Coral Ring " its very helpfull it absourbs
Grand dragoon's Thndage spell
2-when U done go to Quan's marshals to have Queina in ur party.
3- Go back to lindublume hills and let Queina eat all monsters in the hills there is three
types of monsters there one of them has the
" Limted Glove " Tecknike i think it's a peaked winged type bird monster
4- after that go to gizamalok groto hights

I fought grand dragon, with Auto reflect on my party and he messes himself up with thunder. and if u attack party with magic as vivi thats BONUS.

I remember when I was grinding on the Grand Dragon the one time. My party was around level 36, they all had Auto-Reflect on and Vivi had Reflect x2 on. A spread Blizzard over the team did 8500 damage and killed the dragon in a single shot.

Also, since I'm asking questions: I was pretty sure you could cast your magic on multiple enemies in a battle at once, rather than one at a time. Same thing goes for casting spells on your party.. is there a way to cast on everyone at once, rather than one at a time as well? I was sure FFIX was the game you could do this in.

Yeah, you can target multiple enemies. That's what I meant by "spread over my team." I had Vivi target the whole team with the basic Blizzard spell and blew the dragon to kingdom come. :P
As for your question about casting on all (ally and enemy alike), you can't do that with normal spells. You need something like Vivi's Doomsday spell (Learned from his ultimate weapon Mace of Zeus, which is obtained from the chocograph for the mountain peak by the Evil Forest). Hope that helps. :D

Oh... To cast over the whole team press left or right while you're targeting until the cursor splits over every target.

Sorry, I've been playing this game non-stop. About level 40 midway through disc 3.. it's time for me to grind before going any further. Where's the grand dragons? And if the yans are the best exp in the game.. how do you get a gold chocobo to go to the island in the middle of the ocean? I don't know how to get a gold one?? Also, what level is needed to kill Yans? Or Grand Dragons ..?

i just kept fighting grand dragon when i first got to gizamalukes grotto which is like disc one i think ... anyway just get everyone to equip antibody and auto-reflect. get vivi to cast blizzard/blizzara on the entire party, dragons are weak to ice plus casting it on party strengthens it 4 times ! =], dragons stupid, if your lucky it would cast thundaga and in like 1 minute of fighting it'll be dead, i got to like level 60 by the time i got bored of training xD

grand dragon's give like....35k to a single character, if you have "level up" it's even more. all you need to do is get virus on 3 characters and then have quina cast level 5 death on it. it can be acessed through the gizamiluk's grotto or w.e on disk one if you go up the ladder near the save moogle and the little traveling moogle.

40 lvls needed till 99 and i hate playing on quina...Its rly annoying to play on him but i think he's good at fights...i just wonder how the hell some guys made it to garland at lvl one...I had trouble at lvl 37 xD buut well i've been up to get chocobo gold and nao ima go train every char 99 ;D

Man, I wish I had known about that period. I usually just leveled on whatever. Friend of mine leveled up on Grand Dragons on the cliffs from Freya's area. Quina using Limit Break with 1 hp, very fun :P or just get Ragnarok and Shock them and level up from that since IX doesn't have level requirements for the weapons/armors ^_^

you can encounter yans at vile island . it is the isalnd in the middle of the map.. Also use night and only magic attacks to prevent them from waking up because they use snort and float as a counter .. snort htrows a character out .. they also use meteor ehich inflicts random damage usually above 4000 for more info ask me

There is no four Yan fight. They come in groups of one, two, or three. Not four, never.

if you want, you can get level 99 in one fight
in oil vert (or whatever this messed up place is called) there are this stone monsters called epitaph (im playin the german version, so i dont know what they are called in english) they create copys of your characters until they die. each copy gives you like 1500exp, and you can kill as many of them in a fight as you want... so if you have no life, you can kill 2000 of them ;)
