@JohnBonetti so true! the Metallica version is all deadly serious and soaked with grunge-inspired depression. totally missed that the original song is about being able to laugh at yourself sometimes for having depressive tendencies. Shirley says: "it's a song about wanting love, but knowing that life will always get in the way". there's a lot of irony there. Steve's said: "we're poking fun at the alternarock angst, poking fun at ourselves for writing such dark songs."
