  • The mongols were at a disadvantage without their legendary calvary.

  • "Take that, Mongols" xD

  • 5:09 . . . . . :O

  • Haha wow, they re-used the shot at the fleet and the arrow-hail. That´s just awesome.

  • wheres the kamikaze?

  • Lots of ketchup was used

  • 日教組フィルターのかかってない資料をちゃんと読めよ。

    mongolian dead=150000

    samurai dead=about 1000

    クソ笑ったwwww

  • i cant inderstand how fast the mongols took asia and then europe brave and strong men i think

  • @The2boys1cup do you mean understand not inderstand?

  • @brianthao102 understand sorry

  • 4:20 it looks like the stone wall is just a fake wall because of how it bended

  • name of the movie plsssss ???????!!!!!!!!! :P

  • @robertduyvn

    Taiga Dorama "Hojo Tokimune"

  • if it was admiral yi soonshin of korea who invaded those japanese island, the stone walls would have been destroyed.

  • @hyoboy81 well yeah....he had cannons

  • Mongol invation(蒙古襲来)

    Kamikaze(神風)

    Hojo Tokimune(北条時宗)

  • @cmdrbluegill

They never fought against the Knight's Templar in the holy land... But it's rumored they did in Poland. By both sides accounts The allied polish army was annihilated and the monarch beheaded fleeing battle. I dunno what's "not very good" about that.

In an age of sword, lance and bow warfare they flattened nearly everyone and Europe at the time was unprepared. Hell, they'd already beaten larger armies than what Europe could muster and overrun more land than all the continent.

  • Of course, defeating the Golden Horde in battle was only because the Slavs brought an between sixty and one hundred fifty thousand strong, had superior tactics, and a love for the homeland. Fighting a Tatar (Mongol) army of over two hundred thousand would not have been easy.

  • 倭国sb

  • who won this war mongols or samurai????

  • @fqbi

    samurai of course I'm Japanese

  • @MrArthur8810 yes, the mongols were repelled after the japaneses built the stone wall. But the mongols lost the war because of natural disaster, not in the battlefield. After they failed to attack, they were hanging out at sea waiting for opportunatety to strike. But unfortunate for them, they were struck by typhoon, biggest one in the century too.

  • @bigbrightsky

because our country is city of god

  • Brave Japanese Samurais.

  • Quite smart the Japanese response to the first Invasion. The build stonewall to back off the Mongols. Why the hell do we CHINESEhave to fight alongside with Mongol invaders. AFTER THEY conquear our country. Back then, SONG DYNASTY could have regroup and revolt earlier.

  • LOL LOW BUGET FILM HAHA SO SMALL LADDERS!!! midget ladders lol XD im korean by the way GO MONGOLIA!

  • The most part of invading army were Korean.

So Japan and Korea is at loggerheads from those days.

  • Mongolians ate Japanese as a food.

  • next typhoon will sink your island japs

  • At least this docu-drama is very inaccurate that battle hardened Mongols were far too superior too Japanese forces. Only natural disaster hurricane by thinnest chance aided for japanese side.

  • @videouzleg TWICE LOL

  • Banzai!

  • its not very accurate, but good movie anyways :)

  • In reallity, when the mongols invaded, they defeated the japs so the japs retreated, but mongols, thinking they were getting reinforcements, also retreated.. then they came back to find they couldnt land because there was stone walls on the shores.. then they got wiped out by the typhoons..

  • I really enjoyed it

  • haha june 6th 1281.....this almost reminds me of d-day but with arrows lol haha

  • After this battle, the Mongols went back to sea. And another 100,000 soldiers from China route added them. At that time, typhoon attacked the Mongols ships.

  • Part 1&2=First invasion in 1274

    Part 3=Second invasion in 1281

  • excellent,i enjoyed the 3 part videos

  • 3:02 abow would never reach that far

  • Wheres the arrows within the battle... mongols are known for using arrows

  • This is damned awesome - what's the name of this show?

  • MONGOL INVADED TWICE AND FAILED TWICE.

Empire of japan 1868- 1945: North japan(ainu) east asia, southeast asia, pacific islands, manchuria, inner mongolia were under japans control

We defeated russian in manchuria, british and dutch in southeast asian. While Mongolians pigs were under manchus rule

  • I want to see the hole movie

  • Samurai crap only exist in Japaness imagination, they were no mach to Mongols, period!!! And the Japanese will not learn the true history in Japan's classroom. It is pathetic, for Japaness.

  • If the Mongols capture China even destroying the Great Wall of China, they were UNSTOPPPABLE. These Japanese samurais were stupid enough to stand to the MIGHT OF THE MONGOLS.

  • your just pissed cause samuais could destroy mongols

  • mongolia couldnt win because of the tsunami

  • I am mongolian but I proud of people of japan. CUz Every people gave their life for their country .

  • where was the kamikaze?

  • this is a good post, thnx durruti1936

  • You are very welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Japan is historicaly the most powerful Asian nation

Japan never lost territory against China

    That includes Mongolian , Korean , Uighar(Muslim) , Vietnumese

Althoug this video is exaggerating samurai....

  • Japan didnt lose a single Island against Mongolia

  • @gunnota if japan wasnt on a island they would be slaves of mongolia for many years

  • @enkhbattsenguun

    Negative about that

Even Poland and their knights lost against Mongolians

If Japan was Poland , they would of won

  • @gunnota no they couldnt if japan was polish japan would lost mongolia didnt invade britian because britian was a island too. Because russians were a lot stronger than mongolians and they lost because mongols had really great war tactics. And every army uses the tactics that mongols created.

  • @enkhbattsenguun

    Cool down

Mongolians only succeeded to come to Poland , because they teamed with the Muslims...

They were already weak when at Poland

So Japan could possibly defend though with out losing any land

    There's enough possibility

  • @gunnota no japan wouldnt win because mongolia has the fastest horse. In land every soldier has horse in battle if japan was too strong they would use trick. 1st they will run away for 5 or 6 days and when the japan soldiers are too tired they will ambush them. And thats the war tactic and they will win the war.

  • @gunnota In era of pax mongolia. Mongolia divided into 4 parts. Golden horde and Yuan had differnces. You should learn then write.

  • This is true. Because of their wepon and way of the fight, Japanese won.

  • Lol this was pretty interesting but I would never trust the Japanese when it comes to history. I love Japan but they are one of the few developed nations to completely change the history they teach in school as they see fit. Them and Texas.

  • Mongols were well beaten by two people, Egyptians and Japanese. Egyptians in the ground and Japanese at shore. Americans are now the modern Mongols ruthless and savage. Two Bushes have massacred almost more than two million civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, see which Samurai beat them.

  • Comment removed

  • just like D-Day but 13th century version. lol

  • most of the soldier were chinese not mongol during both invasion and the sailor are mostly korean.

  • One question: Why can't the mongol land on other island instead of choosing the same one.

  • lol That movie's 75% not true

i heard twice about this battle.

Mongols were almost half soldiers lost with tornado before come to Japan

  • Is Japan in Sengoku era when the Mongolians invaded?

  • No it was the Kamakura era.

  • i'm surprised japanese didn't have firearms that time? When they began to have it?

  • @hkbaby1985 this is back in the 13 century, Europe didn't even have firearms back then.

  • thanks! haha..i'm so ignorant..

  • Very true but it's interesting to read about the crude gunpowder weapons developed in the far east during the 13th Century. The Sung/Song Chinese Dynasty had the trebuchet catapults operated by pulling on ropes to launch a bomb like in this TV show. They also had "firelances" that fired a small stone or dart from a tube on the end of a spear. Crude hand-held guns are first mentioned in the Yuan Dynasty in 1288 but may have been used earlier. There is no evidence Japan was interested...

  • Firearms were supposedly experimented with as early as the Song Dynasty. THe lack of adopting from Japan lay mostly in there relevant isolation since Tang times. That's why we seem to see limited development in overall military technology which surfaced in the 1500's among the samurai. For example, samurai armor is pretty much identical to medieval Chinese armor(Tang Dynasty to Northern Song) .

  • @Royalmerc Actually the Europeans did have firearms back them, extremely primitive ones though, called hand cannons.

  • japana began to use firearms from 16 century.

  • Go the Japs !!! i think that if the mongols even had a border with japan they would still lose to the japanese. i think the japs are better and braver fighters and they knew the mongols were indeed evil hearts

  • this is so comedy.

    any way. mongols rule!

  • Those Samurai are called Ronins

  • Its good to shot MINIGUN M249 50 Caliber Machine Gun and m1 Barrett Sniper that mongols. But so lovely when the Nuke cannon tomahawk and scud launcher will come to shot that mongols as MONGOLOID.

  • japan no longer has military might like before. its old culture is in danger yes. but the modern culture they have( in my opinion so dont get mad) rocks. well for anime lovers i guess. anyway thats that. when guns were introduced by outsiders, swords became well you know what. anyway this is still a good video. I wish i knew the real title though.

  • lots of missing episode??? sucks

  • wats the name of that japanese wep that looks like a sword and spear put together

  • Naginata Jutsu, basically a polearm/staff style fighting. Normally carried by hvy armored men, the shock troops type.

  • tahat is naginata(薙刀)

  • @8000jk naginata

  • 元軍の主力は高麗軍だからさ、モンゴル語喋らないと思う^^:

  • i think the japanese are the most fearless and the most brave warriors if i had to fight against them i wont be looking forward to it

  • of course they always fought to the death in ww2

  • @lifes40123 yeah but it seems they lost their courage when the americans nuked them twice

  • lol yup all the japanese people i see today looks like they arnt into their history and culture anymore. they dont have an emperor anymore too..

  • @lifes40123 Japan still has an emperor as the symbol of Japan :)

  • the emperor doesnt control the army and everybody anymore.

  • I know he doest control the army and everybody, however, japan still has an emperor right? :)

  • @lifes40123 for your info emperor never controlled the army...shogun did

  • the emperor controls the shogun. emperor controls everything but he just doesnt order them to do things.

  • emperor is the figurehead a Muppet....shogun does the actual things...emperor would go to country mettings and etc... shogun in history actually over thrown the emperor but did not kill him, only moved him into another city with his family as emperor is sacred character in their culture

  • @Kirillov uh he did when imperial rule was restored during the latter half of the 19th century w/c ushered the Meiji era. the power of the emperor was again stripped after japan's defeat in ww2.

  • so your talking bout having emperor power being there momentarily instead of where shogun ruled pretty much everything

  • Much Better ^^

  • @Mongol1232

WTF are u talkin about? if enemy can shoot above the shield from a range like that then what the use of arrow shield then? Plus Mongol are not being famous of their INFANTRY capability but by Cavalry! Plus their composite bow have less range but have more penetration power...and ITS JUST A FILM! And its like Dirty Dozen, Saving Private Ryan, Inglorious Basterd, a fiction too... And actually THERE IS A REAL CONTACT BETWEEN THEM in 1274 albeit in small level !

  • your army failed to land many times think why your army was on the sea until storm comes and learn history you horse' s shit

  • naginata are good halberd used by the japs

  • japan are more well prepared for 2nd invasion

  • "all Fake. . .1274. . .Mongolia was invaded Japan more than 100 yrs ago"

well...i dont undrstand what you say.

100 years ago of 1274 is 1174. this time is Heian piriod.

By the way, it is "Kublai Khan" not "Genghis Khan" who attacked to Japan.

Kublai Khan is a grandchild of Genghis Khan

  • Genghis Kahn surely died in 1227.

However,I say again, it is a grandchild of Genghis Kahn who attacked in Japan.

And Japan was NWVWER ruled by Mongolia.

besides,It is not in Vietnam that Genghis Kahn died.

In brief, is such a legend believed in Vietnam?

  • You considerably do terrible misunderstanding.

    Vietnam surely repulsed Mongolia.

    However, it is not 1227.

Genghis Khan does not arrive at Vietnam.

It is 1257 and from 1282 to 1288 that Mongolia invaded in Vietnam.

Then I am a Japanese not a Mongolian.

  • It is "Ogotai Khan" and "Kublai Khan" not "Genghis Kahn" to have invaded in Vietnam.

You seem to be the person that belief is intense. Make it which, and you do not seem to have a proper argument.

  • I am a Japanese.

The founder of the judo is Kano-Jigorou.

A poor is you. you make a totally incomprehensible remark.

You should have a checkup in psychiatry.

  • A family name is first in Japan.

Do not you know even a thing of such basics?

  • The Samurai where a at a level of their own on warfare and fighting... In the 4th century the Chinese called them the "people of the longbow"...

  • what?

Are you an intention that the arms of Samurai do not evolve from the 4century?

  • Agreed on that part. maximum range, and effective range, can give a difference in opinion and factual proof.

Yes and the Japanese yumi was also waterproof.

But I find it hard to believe that during the mongol invasions. Every ethnicity or creed of people who where defeated by the Mongols. Middle Eastern, Europeans, Chinese etc. Have the same documentation of how powerful and deadly the mongol bows where. And the Japanese people of the time. Also had same trouble and eye witness accounts.

  • The reason why Mongolia was able to conquer a very large area is not only a bow.

You are concerned too much with "one answer".

Not only the bow of the long range but also strategy to apply mobility of cavalry in is necessary Mongolia force is dominant. The fight in Japan does not fulfill it.

By the way, many Japanese eyewitnesses describe defeat of Mongolia.

The military gains in Japan of Mongolia was only slaughter slight number Samurai and the nonresistant people of a remote island.

  • And even if you judge the validity of the source.. The mongol empire stretched as far as the Caucus and Eastern Europe... And that bow was weapon of choice... So many died at the hands of the Mongols...

  • Even if you judge the validity of the " Historic documents record of Japan and Yuan-dynasty and Korea",At the first invasion, 30,000 Mongolia force fought against 5,000 Samurai with a bow and arrow from morning to dusk.

At the second invasion, Mongolia force of 40,000(east routes) was prevented the landing for one month by the samurai.

And the maximum record of the Japanese bow was exceed 430m=470yard.

  • if a bowman uses the light arrow,he may increase his range. But Japanese arrow with a heavy arrowhead have higher penetration power.

In addition, the Japanese bow has the characteristic that closely resembled a carbonfiber or glassfiber by heat-treatment bamboo.

  • It is a common thing to mistake "the maximum range" and "effective range". The past Japanese researcher did such a mistake.

the bow which do not use pulley or material of modern times cannot be effective twice other bows.

The Japanese bow has many conditions that " re-curved, plywood, composite, longbow, heat processing" at least.

  • The cause in line with history documents is "weight of arrow".

For example, mobility of horse and range of arrows was top priority to battle on large plain. The heavy armor is not usable for maintain mobility. In other words even light arrows have casualties power enough.

On the other hand, in the small battlefield such as Japan, the mobility of long time is not necessary.

In other words Samurai used heavy arrowhead for penetration to thick armor in exchange for a surplus range.

  • And yes the Yumi lacked power and accuracy compared to the Mongolian Composite bow. My apologizes, I should of been more specific.

  • The samurai had never seen such superior firepower. The short, yet powerful Mongol bows were effective at up to 240 yards, twice the range of the Japanese longbows.

  • My friend you make good points...

  • It would of been a hard call to find a winner in that battle environment. Both where excellent powerful warriors of their time.

  • If it was land combat and on horseback it would of been hard to find a winner. Mongolians learned to fight on horseback while shooting a bow. And their battle tactics are pinpointing multiple opponents by circling around them on horseback and shooting arrows at them. The Japanese Samurai also knew how to shoot arrows while riding horseback called "Yabusame." But it was designed as a way to please and entertain the Japanese gods, but sometimes for combat.

  • In the first place Samurai always did training of not only Yabusame but also other practical archery.

You should read the Japanese documents of in the 12th century.

  • The main weapon of then Samurai is a bow obviously.

In addition, Samurai did not consider the bow of Mongolia is strong.

"The bow of Mongolia is light, and the arrow is light, too. But poison is painted arrowhead."

  • The "daikyu" was an excellent japanese bow, but it lacked power and accuracy...

  • you say "Japanese bow" was "lacked power and accuracy".

plz tell me the grounds of this.

By the way, modern Kyudo and the archery of the Middle Ages are another thing really.

  • That may be true. But the Mongolian Composite bow was a marvel for powerful velocity and accuracy. And what the Samurai longbow lacked in. Most of the fighting in Japan was done with the bow and arrow until the Mongol invasions changed the Japanese outlook on combat. From that point on, swords and spears became more commonly used.

  • The Samurai had the advantage in close range combat. The "katana" is a very well made weapon. The Samurai focus their time and life on close range sword fights. While the mongolian "Dao" or sword where very flimsy and very poorly made. And they weren't trained for close range combat as well as the samurai. The mongolian composite bow was a excellent weapon from fair range the Mongols had an emense advantage. The Samurai where not ready for the tactics of the Mongols.

  • By the record of tha Samurai which fought against Mongolia(Takezaki Kageie), the bow of Mongolia force of this time had a shorter range than Japanese Yumi.

2,000 Mongolia infantry units are repulsed by 230 Samurai bow-cavalry(Hachiman-Gudoukun).

I feel that too much attention gathers only in Katana Without in Japan.

  • It is "Battle-of-Hakone=takenoshita" of 1336 with the opportunity when Japanese spears spread.

Many non-Japanese commentaries is too simplify the long Japanese history. Therefore much misunderstanding occurs.

  • The cause why Samurai did not use a bow is development of the armor after the 14th century. until 12th century, samurai armor which interlaced iron and leather was the mainstream.

after the 14th century, samurai armor came to cover the whole body with a scale of steel.

  • Because a bow was not effective, Samurai came to use heavy weapons such as Kanabo or O-dachi or Nagamaki for high-ranking samurai.

  • In brief, the weapon and the armor and the tactics of Samurai did not change suddenly by Mongolia.

However, there is misunderstanding as "Mongolia changed Japanese war immediately" outside of Japan.

The cause is TV program of one hour(like discovery-chanel) was going to introduce the "1000years samura history".
