  • which fucking one was which

  • SOLD!

  • k pendejos no dijeron cual es cual hahaha

  • Don't know if this was mentioned, but for games such as BF3. Having an SSD will allow you to spawn faster after dying. Not saying the respawn timer will count down faster, but if you notice, there's a pause when the timer reaches 0 before you actually get put back into the fight.

  • SSD's are way too expensive. My computer already boots pretty damn fast and I'm not going to pay hundreds of dollars to save me 10 seconds the one time a week I reboot.

  • @JDFSSS1989 It's not just boot times, it's mostly program load times and overall performance. The HDD is usually the only bottleneck in a system

  • still not even close to worth the price

  • sorry but why would anyone install windows on a SSD the video shows like a few seconds difference you can avoid installing windows on a SSD drive just by buying a decent asrock motherboard and using instant boot, SSD's are pointless atm price $ per GB is stupidly high for what to shave about 5 seconds off your boot time or shave 10 seconds off a games loading time, if like me you playwow get a 30gb or 40 gb SSD there cheap and do the job

  • so im paying more for 18 seconds faster,

  • @COOLtoFOOL Yeah pretty much. But some people like to min/max every gadget they have so it's good for those people

  • @COOLtoFOOL there is only a difference on task performing/muli-tasking, on game performances there an unperceivable difference, only what the game holds on your static disk speed will be different, what is used more is the volatile memory (RAM Memory) and the graphics card (graphics card are specialized in calculating matrixes and vectors, which all 3d game has) and the processor too of course

  • @COOLtoFOOL no

  • lol ta kurva SSDéčkovská nezobrazí ani vítejte a už je na ploše frnda!

  • i used to boot on a 7200rpm hard drive, then i took an arrow to the knee

  • SSD's increase boot times, application start times, reduces loading times, and some experience speed boosts with fraps, but it will not increase frame rate. Hoping to clear that up for anyone confused.

  • @rich1051414 it depends, if you play a game like skyrim minecraft or fallout, the world loads while you walk, so it will try to give the ram space a bit directed more to the cpu, to the storage(hdd or ssd..) and by taking memory space from the ram, it also takes some from the gpu(the gpu also uses ram, not only its on board memory) so by having an ssd, it will be able to write all the stuff down faster, and clear what needs to be gone in the RAM faster(its not waiting for the hdd)

  • /watch?v=_XeldZnuGJY&feature=channel_video_title

  • SSD on the left.

Of course, SSDs were experimental and Windows XP didn't know how to handle it yet.

  • 2007? cmon.. well .. the message is the same

  • windows xp... bitch u crazy

  • My gameboy boots quicker :)

  • that 7200 rpm disk booted pretty fast for XP

  • so thats it? .. u think we boot our pc's all day? .. rolleyes

  • @Yodina1987 It makes everything else faster to... all applications and programs installed on it, etc.

  • @Yodina1987 buying an SSD is the biggest upgrade I have ever bought

    They are absolutely amazing.

  • @Yodina1987 How ignorant are you? Does it feel good to have no idea what you are talking about?

  • @JtotheKify go for ssd, dont bother me with unnecessary speed boosts, my pc is enought for me. I like youtube hdd vs. ssd videos with boot times ;)

  • бред, у меня hdd на старом компе намного быстрее грузится, туда просто гнилой винчестер поставили, но на счет ссд ничего против не имею, отличная вещь, думаю через лет 5 по цене она станет доступна как и hdd)

  • Now compare it to 8 or 10 Gbit FC-AL.

  • Urg, I can buy the low space SSDs that are like 84GB.. but I the one I want is 240GB or higher and they are so pricey.

  • I tested an SSD Macbook at a store, and dang, that was awsomely fast, just click and open, not even 1 second to open any program.

I think i don't need new processor or computer, just an SSD.

  • faster than my debian linux -.-'

  • @KcashX my debian install boots in 9 seconds on a 5400rpm drive, you must be doing something wrong

  • @eethomasf32 yes xD but i don't know what ^^

  • Wow windows xp kinda old lol

  • @roach182008 Wow you're an idiot. This video is from 2007. DURP

  • @xxx69ajj69xxx Windows XP is from 2001

  • @XxXxXUnlimitedXxXxX And Vista came out in 07...... So everyone would be still using xp.

  • For the cost of an ssd id rather wait 20 second longer

  • @mogga19uk Me too... If they are still expensive now, imagine how much they must have costed when this was shot!! Probably, as costly as the notebook itself!

  • I do not think so that your computer even your SDD drive survive to 60 years old.

  • no doubt :3

  • Hey Denver when a 1.4 ghz blew your mind yeah!

  • thats an ugly ass laptop.

  • Which one has the SSD? XD

  • if you watch 2 hour movie with 7200 HD, you will watch 0.5 hour movie on SSD.. 75% faster... darn...

  • @minddisturb priority for gaming and loading applications certain media heavy applications can take well over min to load or file transfers or program installations. Also laptop battery life can be extended greatly with out the moving parts of conventional harddrives. These are future plus if looking to set up media server these are great speedy enough to let multiple people pull off without causing lag. Using a conventional harddrive 3 or more people can cause skips or buffering.

  • @trilintia true true, but the price it self far from regular HDD. i'm assuming this is for the professional user, maybe in a couple of years we all can enjoy this kindda technology for a more better price. :D

has anybody know the lifetime of this ssd thing..?? 5/10/20 years?

  • @minddisturb and 1000% more expensive :P

  • @unbreakablefootage ahahaahah, yep umm maybe not coz they change the name to SSD (Solid State Dick) O MY GOD, that things got a balls... eeeewwww..

  • @minddisturb You mean 30 minutes....

  • @Agorsan hmmmm....

  • @minddisturb I don't think it quite works like that hahahah

  • @UnladeHint ahahaha, true true.. just think fast... ahahaha.. PEACE... :)

  • @minddisturb you dont get an SSD cuss you whach movies, you get an ssd cuss you play games or simply want a faster boot time, if its for an other reason then that, you dont need an advice, if you want faster boot you could also simply getting 2 hdd in raid mode(doubles the speed) ssd's can easily go up to 1tb, and even 3tb for industrial ssd(not saying that you got a money xD)

  • @5T34LTHcamoT4NK whuutt... ok ok ok easy ... ahahahahahaha.

    me gustaaaaaa..

  • holy crap, i'm using one of those pc's right now...

  • my computer starts while i am on toilet

  • @ardon81 With SSD it could start while you only fart.

  • @JurantMaestro problem for women they do not fart

  • @ardon81 you would be shocked if I'd tell you the truth

  • @ardon81 Trolling successful!

  • @FronterGenerated said the troll

  • Comment removed

  • Or use freakin suspend ... Who cares about a boot time, when laptops can turn on almost instantly, especially Macs.

  • I'd like to know if there's a real difference between Solid State and Flash memory. It seems like they're using different names just to fuck with us.

  • @thefrub there isnt. Just change name to sound better

  • its a dell... shame.

  • oh i know which one was faster.... it was the right one :3

  • Very nice comparison, just waiting for 60gb SSD to dip under 100$ and i'm buying :D

  • I have a 5400 RPM HDD on my 5 year old desktop with Core 2 duo and it still boots faster than the HDD.

  • @UltimateWindows1 What? your hdd boots faster than an hdd?

  • @Amuffin456

    Yeah.

  • ill fuckin take the hdd... cheaper to replace, and tons more options and memory

  • @krazor8 More cache memory doesn't matter.

Cache memory is for the HDD to temp store data while its transfering.

SSDs are too fast for cache memory.

  • SSD's are 2x-4x faster compaired to the mechanical HDD's. The importance to some people like myself, it's not that they are faster, but they are more stable and have better read latency, random access times and parallel operations (muilti tasking).

  • That is really faster. Nice. But.. still not worth paying 20 times more for a drive..

  • The only thing keeping me from investing in an SSD (Besides not having the money xD) is the limited amount of write cycles it can perform before the chip(s) are worn out. It just kinda scares me :/.

  • @Titanz91 Unless you're filling the entire drive and then overwriting everything everyday then it's going to last at least 5 years, more likely 15-20... harddrives don't have a habit of staying alive for 20 years of use.

  • can we add a SSD to a notebook that doesnt already have one?

  • SSD is good for only the OS, I've put several games on SSD and barely notice the difference, only very very very few games loads faster such as City of Heroes when loading to different zones. My Win 7 boots in 12 seconds on SSD, it boots about 40 seconds on HDD, Linux boots in 6 seconds flat, it's ridiculous.

My Intel SSD already ran out of write limits after a year and half, I think Win 7 does constant writes, I can at least read and take data off it to my new drive.

  • i couldn't care less,i mean its a nice feature but for that money ill upgrade other parts and make my pc faster overall and anyways i only shut down my desktop only once a week.nice vid

  • Im waiting for cheaper SSDs, and then I'll buy a new rig (current game pc is 10 years old). New PC will be SSD and all the fast shit that is good now.

  • I am sure decent sized and quality ram is still as good as an sdd.

  • but have you ever tried to have a SSD in 1 year and 7200rpm HD in 1 year? then its ALLOT Differenced!!!! so the 7200rpm HD will win! Because the SSD gets slower after time!!!! :P Taths the question!!! Because everyone sas SSD IS BEST! But its there they take WRONGGGGGG!!!!!! Becuse the SSD as i said gets slower after TIME!!!

  • @ztsz95 OS that can handle the TRIM command (eg Windows 7) will not suffer from any performance impact due to garbage colletion. OS that does not support TRIM (eg Window XP/Vista) can still utilitize garbage collection manually. A fact that excessive use of exclamation marks and capital letters does not change. And yes, I have used SSD for over a year without signs of performance degradation on both the laptop (Vista) and desktop (Window 7) computer. Google Anandtech and SSD for great articles.

  • I'd like to see the SD against a WD Black drive..Still slower, but how much?

  • I don't even care. I just something to RAID 0 in my laptop. :D

  • This isn't a vs at all. If you were vs'ing these two drives you'd have more aspects than just boot up time.

  • Now you need a 1 TB SSD vs 1 TB HD wallet shots.

  • 20 seconds vs 35 seconds => 75% faster .. if u turn on pc 1 a day u save 1hr and 30 minutes per year .. just from the boot. If you play a game everyday (theres a vid, 18s vs 45s -> 2hrs 43 minutes saved in a year...Msn, skype, internet, file transmitting, downloading(also depends heavily on internet connection), etc.. SSD saves u at least 8-10+hrs a year of just LESS waiting. if you use ur pc for 60 years = saves u a month of just plain waiting, so is it worth it? YES

  • @SebasRabet 60 years are kidding me we would have PB hardrives coming in 11in laptops by then

  • @thiswillseftdestruct I know things are getting faster and faster but think about it ..; SSD is newer, faster then HDD , since it's newer it's more expensive .. Soon SSD will be HDD and HDD will be gone .. like DVD replaced VHS and blu ray is replacing DVD... So replacing HDD for SSD is like a couple years ago changing VHS for DVD ... It doesn't look that much differ but theres a big difference .. on average SSD is 40%-50% faster

  • @SebasRabet of course hdd's are gonna get replaced i was stating that no one would use the same pc for 60 years

  • @thiswillseftdestruct i never meant the same one just different SSD vs HDD

  • @SebasRabet BUT REMEMBER THE SSD GETS SLOWER AFTER TIME!!! THEY NEED TO FIX TATH BEFORE THEY CAN REPLACE IT!!! IF NOT PEOPLE WILL JUST HOLD TIGHT INTO THE HDD!!! AND I MEAN OVER 50% WILL KEEP THEM!!!!

  • @SebasRabet Not for the price it's not...

  • @leetwaffle its 150€ for a good one ? ... u don't need a 100TB SSD ... its only for programs u use alot

  • @SebasRabet

lol NOBODY's gonna keep their computer for 60 years xD

  • @codeythesilent if u use several pcs for 60 years with SSD against using several pcs for 60 years with hdd

  • @SebasRabet yeah there are also PCs which take 2 minutes to boot and ppl take a shit while its booting or make a coffee so its not lost time

  • @jukka1996 Thats the Spirit....Why would i waste 100+ bucks for just freaking 15 secs....

  • @SebasRabet that isnt very long at all actually.. i dont know what ur tlakin about 1 hr a year hahaha hardly worth worrying about unless uve never heard of the hibernate function

Although i do agree ssd is far better just not in this piece of crap

  • @thecarrots5 its not only that .. i play a game and before when i teleported to another region i had to wait like 30 seconds for it to load now it takes 1 second... i teleport bout 20 times a day if not more, thats 10mins a day no waiting okay .. 1 yr = 61 hours saved ... get it

  • @SebasRabet Oh okay yeah i see well that is definitely better and ssd has to be a far better invention especially for laptops because there is no disc running so better portablility etc..

downside is the cost i guess, and amount of space compared to hdd

Btw is it worth replacing a 750hdd for a 60ssd (i have to 750 hdd's) so just one of them for the operationg system and the other for the storage

  • @thecarrots5 ofcourse .. if u need more then 750 GB then u can buy an external hard drive u leave at home for stuff u dont use but don't want te remove because 750GB is like 150.000 songs, i doubt u'll listen to all of 'em :p ... + 60 GB isn't that low tbh .. only for games

  • @SebasRabet yeah i buy songs and would have to be a billionare to afford that many and yeah im a gamer so it's more important to have memory. However i was just thinking about replacing one of the hdds with an ssd so that the computer overall runs faster with programs etc is that true? (ssd not for storage)

  • @thecarrots5 thats what i'm doing ... i have 120GB ssd for windows, several games, basic stuff (internet explorer/google chrome/nero/windows office/ anti virus software/editting program,...) and all other games + music, movies, .... on my storage ( 2TB HDD)

  • @SebasRabet That sounds like a good future investment at least, and a good idea, how do u transfer all that stuff like windows on the ssd? will that be haslty

  • @thecarrots5 copy paste :p

  • @SebasRabet ok

  • @SebasRabet No matter how well you treat a computer, its not gonna last 60 years, unless you buy more RAM for new operating systems, a new motherboard to hold stronger parts, a new graphics card, a new processor... And that all together is pretty much getting an entirely new system

  • @53525252252 ... I DO NOT MEAN PEOPLE USE 1 COMPUTER FOR 60 YEARS ... WTF xD

  • @SebasRabet How about you just reboot once a week and turn your PC into a folding machine when it's not in use? You must have some sort of epeen strengthening rig if you're concerned about 15 seconds, so why not do something good with all that power when you're not using it. If you're using it at least 6 hours a day, that's wasting 66% of the PC's potential! Over a year, you'll waste 273.75 days or 3/4th of a year with it doing nothing. (Don't forget to -2hours for your 20second daily boot!)

  • @PsyKad are you a troll ? =)

  • Comment removed

  • @SebasRabet No its not, you're just trying to find a way to justify why you brought it.

  • @whatniqqaplease bought* And did u not see the difference in speed? Look at the video again

  • @SebasRabet you" And..? Who cuts off their computer every day. I cut off my computer like once a week, and when I cut it back on that one time a week I dont mind waiting 10 more seconds. I guess you SSD buyers just want a reason to cut off your computer and boot it up.

  • @whatniqqaplease it's not because you can't afford a good SSD that it's bad :)

  • @SebasRabet Im in med school, i can barely pay my tuition now. I get 500 a month but i gotta pay bills and buy food. Not everyone still lives with mommy and daddy and gets whatever they want.

  • @whatniqqaplease I do live at home but im 18 -_- and I work for everything I want other then stuff for school/clothes/... and why u start telling about what u get and w/e .. idc tbh, if u would still live at home you could give some money to parents for electricity, little rent, and then you could focus on school and after that live on your own, idk why young ppl find it so special to live by thereselves, just stupid.

  • @SebasRabet Naw my parents love me, they wouldnt make me pay rent, they just live to far away for me to live with them. And im 22 youngin, and you're still a child so thats why you dont mind stying with your parents.

  • @SebasRabet You sir won the internet

  • @SebasRabet 20sec - 3sec (cuz power button has been pressed on 0:03) seventeen seconds - it's just unbelievable! o_o

  • @SebasRabet If you buy a normal Hard drive it saves you a awful lot of money that could be spend elsewhere though.

  • @canthaguild u can buy cheap SSD's that just don't have that awful lot of space

  • @SebasRabet Still though, Ive been looking at getting one, in the UK a 32GB SSD with a transfer rate which is better than a standard drive but all in all quite low compaired to most SSDs is about £40, for £40 you can get a 7200RPM 1TB standard drive or a 15000RPM drive with about 320-500GB

  • @canthaguild well .. u need 1TB? anyhow .. i have 120GB SSD for programs and a 2TB HDD for storage .. really worth it.

  • @SebasRabet if you live for 80 years, sitting on the toilet takes 10months of it. just think about of turning your pc on before going to toilet. or just by the new macbook air.

  • @AviraAntivirus Boot linux and spend less time staring at a fucking stuck beach ball or blue screen.

  • @SebasRabet You have a good point, but that month could be used to do a LOT of other things than just waiting. How about grabbing a nice cup of your favorite caffeinated beverage? :D

  • @SebasRabet should also calculate the electric bill u saved too ^^

  • That was extreamly fast!

  • 32gb = $80

    1tb=$54

    SSD, HDD...

  • FAKE WINDONS XP ??

  • Ill get one in a few years when they are more common and cheaper.

  • @ojon12389 right i dont feel like spending over a 100 ucks just for seconds less of a start up time or downloading things

  • @AzzoFresh420 that's because you don't need it for things other than booting windows. And downloading doesn't really depend on you HD, just your network connection. Once you start using your PC for more than porn and facebook, then you will see the benefit.

  • @poe8989 u got me on the porn part but not the facebook it blows never had one never will and i should have said transfering but what ever. would u buy a ssd? and if u did how much did it cost like 120?

  • OOOOOMG

  • @IAmTheAbsoluteBest well if HDD's are a thing of the past, and SSD's are from the future, whats the present? I think consumer preference. I prefer a high performance $120 1TB HDD, than a $120 40GB SSD.

  • DON'T BE FOOLD SHEEPLE ITS JUST A MIRROR AND ONE LAPTOP CORPORATE ASS HOLTES TRYING TO MISINFORM YOU SO YOU BUY

  • I have a raid 0 SSD (with Core i7) on my windows 7, it runs faster than this ssd XP. However I have tried to punch (hit) laptop, because its suppose to not have consequences as it is solid, but laptop turns off anyway as a regular computer (with regular hdd), so when I get rage at games like Wow or Starcraft, non of this discs helps me keep playing rather than DC. [disconnect] We urge for laptops that can stand game rage.

  • @ThorMexico How about you just grow up and stop getting so angry at computer games that you hit your laptop.

Games are meant for fun, if you are not having fun, stop playing. Simple.

Sincerely, a 21 year old who's been gaming since he was 3.

  • @SuperChairmanMeow ahha i'm 14 in january and i have been gaming since i was 3. what was the first game you played? my one was doom running on windows 98 XD and then doom got me in to guitar and drums, then i got to like metal XD

  • @MeT4Lic0 Too early to remember! Been gaming since I could pick up a gamepad, not long after that PCs became good for gaming. I have killed one laptop in the past with game rage.....damn you Football Manager 2008!

Not so much killed as managed to activate the hard drive password which is hard coded to the hard drive itself.......too expensive to send off to Toshiba so I've kept it since then until I can.

  • They just skipped an entire boot screen! NO WAY!

  • But can it run Crysis?

  • the HDD is still very fast. i'd rather save the money and buy a better looking laptop.

  • i puked@0.11 XD

  • Not correct comparision.

Are the OS fresh reinstall? If yes then the XP with HDD should be defragmented after install and then at least 3-5x times restarted so the boot optimization can take place. After that run command to do boot optimization "rundll32.exe advapi32.dll, ProcessIdleTasks". This is not necessary for SSD but it will make noticable difference for HDD.

Only after that the SSD vs HDD boot time can be compared as both disks has some advantages/disadvantages that need to count in.

  • wow you saved 16 sec so much worth the extra 300 dollars.

  • @ComputerGamerify

But when you play games like Fallout which renders tons of things at a time you won't get crashing and freezing.

    It's worth it.

  • @SirithHeruwen Crashing and freezing? Really?

  • @EXetoC

Gamebryo engine sucks in itself so no guarantee.

But games with high res textures and lots of objects and props will be much faster with ssd if you complement it with very good graphic card.

  • @SirithHeruwen I wouldn't call it crashing and freezing. Anyway, an SSD is mostly going to make a difference when loading a level and in games where levels are streamed bit by bit, am i right? Is that what you meant?

  • @EXetoC

Yea, a lot of crash when changing cells. in open world games things are loading as you walk like grass trees.

if grids load faster game less likely to crash. what often happens is the player steps off the grid before it's loaded and you get CTDs.

  • @SirithHeruwen Right. "Gamebryo engine sucks," yep that's why then :-)

  • 16 second difference. I think ill keep my $300 and get double the memory for the 7200 rpm >.<

  • Price for 30 sec faster hmmmm no thanks I'm hood

  • cool. now talk about price...

  • Here's a tip: Buy an SSD drive of like 32GB+ and a big HDD of like 1TB.

Install your OS on the SSD and store files on the 1TB files. You could also install some games on the SSD for improved performance.

  • Also to those calling this laptop old... THE VIDEO IS FROM 2007 the laptop was probably about a year old at the time.

  • HUGE DIFFERENCE!! Great demo thanks

  • @Rideout421 terrible demo actually, since this is an outdated laptop, putting an SSD in it will have a significant impact. Put one into my PC, and the difference will be smaller since I have high performance parts

It's not a "HUGE DIFFERENCE" at all. just because it boots 20% faster, it doesn't mean the the actual performance gain in applications will be anywhere near that. SSD's are for people who need higher performance, the average user won't see any difference +SSD's are 20x more expensive

  • @Spockkker You are so wrong it's not even funny

Quad core intel core i7 boot up speed windows 7 7200rpm 1:45

Quad core intel core i7 boot up speed windows 7 ssd :20

    Applications load instantly

    web sites load faster

    network transfers are noticeably quicker

    less power consumption

they are about 110 for a 64gb and 200 for a 128gb these are meant for operating system drives on desktops and larger sized versions for laptops. Stick to 3.5 HDD for storage of media and games.SSS is for raw performance

  • @Spockkker If it boots 20% faster as you said, then the transfer rates will be higher. For normal use isn't really necessary, but if you want a good server, which doesn't need much space but only needs a good CPU, Internet and high transfer rates, this is the solution in my opinion.

  • What name is this computer?

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit dinosours

  • @TheCheapWayGamer To illustrate the difference.

  • ssd boots fast, which is normal since it doesn't have motor moving parts but it still very very costly compared to hdd.

  • i dont need 10 seconds that badly 2bh...

  • Which one was SSD and which one was 7200rpm HD????
