  • This show is unbelievable. It blows pretty much every television show playing in America. (besides Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Luck, The Killing) The music in the show goes so good with the scenes, and Rafe Spall plays a lunatic so good.

  • Please BBC, cut out the "reality tv" and the panel shows, and give us more of what we deserve!

  • Exquisite . If there was a category in the British Television Awards for Theme Music , this would rank in top honours.

  • @AndTheBeatStaysOn wow umm....thanks. I just started watching the last episode...

  • @taffer7 Ooops sorry..

  • I loved how the character of Gatehouse gave the show an almost supernatural air.

A gangster story that truly sets itself above the rest.

  • tremendous drama from the beeb. Cut some shit off bbc 2 and make more baby!!

  • this is the best drama series i've seen in age's i had the privege to spend 2 days on the set , i hope there's a second series

  • yeah i enjoyed this show too. gatehouse, great bit of john lecarre scariness there.

some yoof should sample this into a dubstep tune itd be heavy.

  • Wow. What an evocative piece of music. Went perfectly with the Shadow Line, which happened to be a brilliant drama.

  • much better with the drums !

  • The licence fee is always a kick in the nuts but sometimes it's worth it

  • This is one of the best scores I´ve heard :)

  • This and luther prob the best things on tv this year. can anyone help me with this one... can anyone tell me the music that was played during the luther episode, when the bloke is attacking the family in the car while its raining. last episode of the series..thanks

  • think I might break the replay button soon :/

  • Steven Rea, you make the best Villain that the BBC has ever scene.

  • listening to this on the headphones gives me the shivers in an absolute fuckin sweet way

  • Even if I know that BBC can produce such series I was totally surprised by this one! Love love love, if you like this serie check Luther by BBC as well!

  • Gatehouse is the scariest bad guy ever. He ain't aggressive, he's too calm and polite for that shit. He just lures you into believing his nice and then WHAM! He's killing you and ruining the meal you got cooking on the stove.

  • This show had a gripping energy without the need the usual techniques we see in ordinary crime dramas. The BBC is trully the place to be for new and original epic dramas, this AND Luther showed us that. So amazing

  • utterly epic - there is no drama on british TV that compares. HBO has dominated the last ten years and now BBc has caught up. there has been a lot of money spent on this but i bet they make it back when they sell it on. watching lame british dramas hnd stereotypical gangster movies has led me to think this stuff doesnt go on in britain but this show has really made me think twice. epic BBC

  • @keir1984 U got that rite mate. The shadow line was truly epic but the beeb av got to up there game now to top it. Will wait and hope.

  • @keir1984 You're right, not been anything this good since Cracker. (Oddly enough Mr Ecclestone again.)

  • Sorry Alistair Cast but you really a no hoper. Just carry on watching childrens TV. This has been one of the best series on TV of late, and i second the previous post. Only the BBC can do this sort of stuff. Great series, and great acting and will hopefully win some awards for the producution and cast. Also this piece of music was made for this series. Keep up the good drama BBC, good luck to Emily.

  • What genre of music would the be classed as? I would like to find more like this. :)

  • @Idznakafist Kickass. Its classed as the kickass genre.

  • @MrManielx2 Good answer ;D

  • @Idznakafist I think trying to define it would be pointless. It's awesomeness is in how different it is.

  • This song is so emotional and just haunting. Who ever this women is shes very talented! This osng really got to me in a good way though.

  • I've watched a lot of drama in my time but Shadow Line was by far the best so far! Wonderful acting and screen writing, every minute as intriguing as the previous one and 60 minutes every week just flies by. The theme Pause is haunting stuff and perfect fit for the drama. Excellent TV! We want more!!!!!

  • Thank you! I had no idea the theme was just a snippet from a full song.

  • Love this series and adore the theme song! Can't find it anywhere though which is a shame :(

  • @smidge22121 It's available on itunes!

  • This series reminds me why it is worth paying a licence fee. Only the BBC makes drama as good as this. Drama that doesn't treat the audience like morons. The sound track just tops it off.

  • @henryfrenchuk The bbc is one of the best, probably the best places for drama, the american drama's cant compare to the shadow line and then I watch Luther as well and was blown away. The BBC makes its audience think about what has happened and not bambossle its audience , like American programmes do.

  • @colinoreilly5 It's the joy of the licence fee. Instead of simply making things for the lowest denominator, the BBC is funded to make challenging and deep programmes. It then challenges ITV and Channel 4 to rival it with their own original content.

Also, given that it doesn't rely so much on viewing figures, it tend to let series come into its own, something the US doesnt. See Firefly and the like.

I love having the Beeb. If you include radio, there's always something to think about.

  • @henryfrenchuk Exactly. Hustle is another good one but this was perfect. I am loving my DVD boxset of this. Gatehouse was the perfect villain.
