  • Lovely swinging music, and so nice to see some of the older members there as well . I used to belong to the CB fan club in the 50,s ,and I had all the LP,s and it is wonderful to see our German friends appreciating such good jazz music as us brits do , I luv to see their comments but cant read German ,but im sure they are expressing themselves as lovers of good trad jazz. Thanks a million for posting.

  • epic

  • yeah i'm searching video like this !!

  • Platschheimer-Extremist was weiss ich... : Du Ungläubiger; sei einfach still ! Allah will es auch ! Süsse Grüsse Deine Arne

  • @Platschheimer its easy for you too say that. But in which case you have no appreciation of music. One does wonder why you were looking at this video anyway, and what possesed you too leave such a comment?

  • Then why watch a song in a genera you don't like?

  • This is superb! If you like jazz, any style of jazz, then you like this! A wonderful re-creation of a New Orleans parade played by experts. Should have been twice as long, three times as long!

I've heard three different versions of this tune by the Barber band on youtube, and each one is different, each one is truly excellent. I saw his various bands in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, every time it was different, every time it was brilliant.

  • this is great!

...es fängt an mit: I sream, you scream............ we all scream usw......

schau mal bei "Harry Reser" In the land of ice and snow (Original)

  • @ordix44

..original ist von Waring's Pennsylvanians aus 1925..

  • @Platschheimer

Oh what an ignorant. You haven't to listen to this great music. Enjoy your plastic music or whatever else!

  • What a worthless piece of crap you are.

No one deserves what you dish out for liking

a type of music. I lived through a war where

what you recommend was common in your country.

Don't need any of that again, twit.

  • Ich sehe das sie kein videos selbst gemacht!

  • Ich sehe das sie kein videos selbst gemacht haben!

  • Dixieland jazz is perhaps some of the best music ever created. That's not an opinion...just check out what type of music has lived through the ages.

  • YAYYY!! MY DAD'S IN THIS BAND!

  • Chris Barber played live in Lucerne Switzerland 5 weeks ago.

I enjoyed this concert very much, it was great!

  • Luv Chris . Has anyone got Merrydown Rag?

  • Yes - I have Merrydown Rag.

  • If you can post it on You Tube I would live to hear it. Thanks

  • Great stuff, brings back old memories of growing up in London and seeing this great band....

  • I saw Chris Barber play at the Octagon in Yeovil Somerset just 2 weeks ago. The band now has 18 members but they also played as a 6piece. He is just amazing and during the interval and at the end talked to the fans. During the concert he related all the musical facts and the history of each piece. His humour is as dry as ever and voice soft and cutured and as for the Music!!!! xxxxxx

  • what has your bullshite got to do with the recording of Ice Cream?

  • I'm a recent fan of the Band, I'm 15 and I saw them play in Leeds a few weeks ago. They played a six piece set because that's what they did when they first performed in Leeds. The performance was just amazing.

  • Can I believe this post? It's 2007 and I was a fan of the Barber band in the 60's, I first saw them live in South London in 1964. Are they really still playing?

  • yes, i went to a concert of them tonight, in holland, it was great!!!

  • im proud to say i saw chris barber live a couple a yeras ago in germany it was amazing though i only was about a 13 years old!

  • Well - they should wear their marching band caps more often!

  • old perfect memories of this great band

  • A wonderful memory - can anybody identify the sidesmen?

    Alan Bonney

  • Monty Sunshine-Clarinet

    Lonnie Donnegan-Banjo

    Pat Halcox-Trumpet

    John Crocker/Ian Wheeler Saxes

    Alan"Sticky" Wicket Snare Drum

    Paul Sealey Bass Drum

    Vic Pitt-Sousaphone

  • This is nice, but honestly I prefer the Crackerjacks version with the girl on trombone.

  • chris barber and his band is just so great, i can hear it every day

  • Thanks for the link!! Takes me back to the fifties. I wonder if Chris watches these? He's a great bloke with a remarkable memoriy. Play Savoy Blues for me - Stockton on Tees Palais 1957.

  • Corrie121.

Best of British! Been enjoying Chris Barbers' music since the 1950's and I never tire of it.
