Haven't been here for a while, but for those of you who are wondering what Windows 7 Starter Edition is, the simple answer is that it is a Windows 7 version of operating system with bare bones functionality. You can actually look up the differences in the OS at Microsoft. Hope that helps.
The movie website I was using is Netflix.com It's a very popular website where basically you get to watch all the movies you want provided they aren't newly released.
soo do u think i should get this from walmart...because i am one of thoses ppl who likes to watch youtube videos and stuff in hd and i like to make it fullscreen..
i found this laptop not hd but the led one at bestbuy it says Microsoft Windows 7 Starter Edition operating system preinstalled dont call me an idiot but does that mean it comes with windows 7 for free
Don't choke - $467.00 - now you know why this model isn't seen in the stores. I ordered my computer from HP themselves through their website. Good luck...
It's really a matter of how much involvement you want to have with your operating system. Windows 7 and Vista both have really taken away all the operator fine tuning and tend to do everything for you. Windows XP is my favorite because I am still very able to tinker and tweak just about any part of the O.S I want to not to mention that XP is still faster than Windows 7. Go figure on that ha. Good Luck!
Nope! You can download all kinds of light program that can play HD type files including blu-ray IF you have the entire file on your computer and not playing from and external blu-ray player. Check out some of the Windows Media player plugins. They are cheap and very small programs that get the job done well. Other programs are too large and burden the processor too much. Good luck!
I'm on a plan on getting this netbook. I have many research & finally narrowed down to this & dell mini 10v(but unfortunately it comes wit win7). Does this run complex programs well like windows movie maker & visual studio 08? Any idea about the RAM upgrade?
Cool. Yes, your research is right as far as 10 inch netbooks are concerned. But there is far better now. The Toshiba Satelite T115 or T135 are far superior. For your own sake, I would check these out before you make your final purchase. As for the Mini 110 being able to handle video editing software - well, lets just say ix-vey-on-the-ix-nay. The processor would seriously overload and stuter HARD at best. You need at least a pentium for this - see the Toshiba T135. Good luck!
One more thing - yeah, the 2GB is a necessity if you are looking to give your system a quicker access time to larger programs or have several memory apps open at the same time. And let it be known, although the Toshiba does offer good hardware, their speakers on their system are TERRIBLE. Guess you can't have it all - smiling.
Okay, go to HP's website - Customer Service - Technical Support - Download Drivers - and enter your model number or let HP auto detect them. You can save all of your drivers you need. Good Luck!
Of course. You need to narrow down the kind of usage you need out of your laptop or netbook. Currently the best buy for your almighty dollar is not HP, ASUS, Dell, or ACER but Toshiba. The T115 or T135 are very good systems with exceptional hardware for the price. Only draw back on these systems is the speakers are terrible. T115 is an 11.6 inch and T135 is a 13 inch. They are essentially the same with the exception of the 64 bit O.S. Good luck!
It sure can. But look, I hate to break everyone's heart, but technology sits still for no one. I have been researching and the first of the bunch to make a high end netbook at a cheap price is Toshiba with their T115. This guys comes with an Intel Celeron processor instead of the inferior Intel Atom processor. Good luck!
Welcome to the fold brother! Okay, as for Windows 7, the jury is still out. At the time of my purchase it wasn't available. I have read reviews that have compared this system with a beta copy of Windows 7 vs Windows XP. Would you believe that XP was slightly faster. Was a beta but in all fairness I wouldn't turn down a new copy of Windows 7 either. Time for a new review. Give us your perspective on the Mini with Windows 7 - smiling.
Nice review. I have the Hp mini myself and i'm loving it. Quick question, i'm stuck with my 3 cell battery which doesn't last too long maybe a good 2 and a half hours if i'm not deeply multitasking. Is it worth it to buy the 6 cell? I was also thinking about upgrading my ram to 2gigs as well. What would be the first sensible choice to make. And is it worth it to upgrade to 2 gigs i'm hearing from others that i wont see much of a difference. Thanks in advance.
You sure can. The HP Mi Linux version is pretty advanced. The linux model offers 2GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive option. However, no luck on the 720P LED screen or the HD card. You decide...
Hey there, haven't checked my e-mail in a minute. Okay, so I just checked HP's site and yes they still offer the computer. You have to choose the Mini 110 XP. Once you do they will give you the option to Customize your Base Configuration. You have to select through all the screens for options one at a time. If you select the High Definition Screen 1366 x 768, later on you will be given the option of buying a video accelerator by Broadcom for $30.00. That's the ticket!
I tried to publish a high light but was not able to get it into clear view. Suffice to say that the HP Bluetooth Nano Dongle is a USB device it is super small. Actually if you want to see a good image of it, it comes with the microsoft mobile mouse 6000 that I have. Look up that mouse. The nano dongle that comes with the mouse is the same exact one HP uses.
I just changed my hard drive to the Seagate 500GB 7200 RPM notebook drive. I tested my computer recently and got about 5hrs 13min from my 6 cell battery. Never, tested the original 160GB 5400RPM drive. My video was shot with the original drive but I'm up and flying at 7200 RPM now!
I bought the netbook from HP themselves. I ordered through their website. The cost is $466.98. What I ordered is posted exactly in my info section. Hope this helps! Thanks.
