why when i put it on "continous shots" release mode it doesn't take more than 1 shot?

yes In the HD mode, in regular modes, about 20 minutes.

D5000 can only shoot 5 minutes of HD video, is that correct?

if you are shooting 720p(1280x720) it would only be 5minutes.

But if you set it to 424p(640x424) it would be 20minutes.
