YOU HAVE 6 LEVELS OF ASSIST, SO CAN CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL, OR CAN TURN ASSIST FULLY OFF AND HAVE NONE... so, yup, the kit will do exactly as you want.

Or are you forced to accept some level of assistance with every trip on your bike no matter what? I would hate to have help at all times, just when I really need it. I still wan the workout.

I've been wanting to get an assist kit for some time so I can ride my bike to work. I did so last year but there are several very taxing hills right before my destination and it is no fun arriving at work all hot and perspiring. My question is this, I don't need any assistance UNTIL I reach those final hills. What if I don't want any assistance until that critical moment? Can I simply pedal WITHOUTassistance until those hills are a problem? I don't want to lose the workout on rest of the ride.
