If youre using full auto then the problem is with the shooter, not the gun. 2 The iron sights on the m16 are better than the irons on a g36, and an aimpoint or trijicon acog are better than the carrying handle sights on the g36. No doubt the G36 is a good STOCK gun. The M16 is able to do 900 rpm? I fail to see how thats "lower" than 750? Just because you cant use the iron sights, doesnt mean they arent accurate. @timoyang1996 Well many US combat troops are very much unsatisfied. The problem stems from the old fashioned gas op system which causes a lot of fowlling of the working parts. As a result it needs almost constant cleaning to avoid jaming or failing, a level which is not possible in a combat enviorment.

@a2birdcage1 I've never shot the rifle myself, I've never heard of the stock of most any gun melting though. I can imagine it might get very hot and even char some, but I doubt it would melt. I have a polymer forearm on my AK (AKs get insanely hot during rapid fire) and it will hold up just fine so long as I don't get too insane.
@oldannyboy37 the stock won't ever get hot, that means the rifle would burn your face if you shot it, but the handguard might get hot, but it won't melt, that's just stupid propaganda against the weapon.

Polymer can melt during sustained fire though, polymer isn't really all that great at handling temperatures over 150 degrees (or close to that, I haven't studied the structure in a while). I doubt anyone would ever get the gun hot enough to melt that though, it wouldn't melt completely though. I've seen someone melt poly handguards on an AK, the inner portion just melted to the barrel.
