Heh, I'm 63 and trying to decide to try this or what looks like surgical glue. It might take another decade before the lids droop enough to obscure the vision & qualify for the surgery. I'm sure once the Asian gals stop hitting the clubs, get married and have a couple of kids, they won't want to be bothered with doing this anymore. It is interesting about this beauty phenomenon though. I always thought almond shaped eyes were beautiful, wait long enough in life & you'll get them, hehe
@NoseyNNana Haha non asians sometimes tend to see the 'almond shaped' eyes as beautiful because it's different from what we normally see but us asians, tend to see the nice visible eyelid eyes as beautiful because, well it's different from what we normally see. I guess we all want what we don't have lol.
Monolids are actually really lucky because some of the best eye makeup that I've seen look the best on the monolids...if the combo of eyeliner & eyeshadow is used effectively, the illusion of the a crease and the depth of the eye (or double eyelid) can be easily achieved. Personally, I think monolids are very versatile...double eyelids tend to develop eye bags and crow feets much earlier too!!
double eye lids or bigger eyes and tall bridge nose were consider the epitome of Asian beauty even before the first white race was encountered in Asia, so please, stop being so eurocentric...they are not trying to look like white people, just Asian people with impossible beauty standards!!!
Lastly, that really look like it hurt a lot, I mean you were virtually stabbing your eye...repeatedly, and that look like it may produce long-term damage to some sort of optical nerves...
I'm Asian, I used to have double eyelid fold until I had bells palsy strike my face and paralyze one side of my face. This made my bone structure/muscle structure in my face change + so did my eyelid - it became a monolid. I have no problems with monolids! I enjoy doing cool eyeshadow looks and I feel more confident having two symmetrical eyelids rather than one significantly smaller.. that's just my opinion and my experience, it's different for everyone for their motives x
Eyelid tape?! WTF? I honestly think people with epicanthic folds should just appreciate the beauty of it and keep their eyelids that way. How would they feel or react if I started taping down my eyelids to fake an epicanthic fold?
I have 'double eyelids' and I think they are sooooo ugly! My eyes look droopy and not very open because the crease is too deep. Maybe I can find some magic tape to fix it someplace? Not likely...
@maplefalls09 haha as much as it seems like it's painful, it doesn't hurt at allll. The stick is not directly poking at her eyeball. It kinda feels like rubbing your eyes when you wake up, but with slightly less pressure :p
doesnt look natural. if you are asian and have a double eyelid, it would not be that high. the eyelid she gave herself with the tape is a caucasian double eyelid.
There are Asians with natural high eyelid like hers. One example is Michelle phan from youtube. Please don't just assume. There are always exception to the rules. And there are caucasians with single eyelids too.
I'm sorry if i made it sound like that..although there ARE asians with eyelids like that, it's just so uncommon. MichellePhan is Vietnamese, which tend to have more eyelids..whereas I think korean chinese and japanese have smaller less prominent eyelids. Im sorry if i made it sound like i assume :) but to me, it just seems unnatural.
Wow. I'm glad I have double eyelids. I don't have to spend money buying double eyelid tapes. I don't know about you guys but it doesn't look natural. Something about it looks weird. I think you'd have to cover that up with eye shadows or something to make it look more natural
Don't know if i'm doing it right, but when I open my eyes, the tape kind of pokes into my eyes from the upper eyelid. It feels like the tape is going to enter my eyes or something. Lol.
@invisibleessential This shows how brainwashed (or should I say WHITEwashed) asians (mostly women) are - to be beautiful is to be light skinned (WHITE), blonde (hence all the asians dying their hair), skinny, blue eyed (lots of asian women use coloured contacts even though they have perfect eyesight) and big eyed (these strip things). It's sick. Black and arab women do it too, they use skin lightening creams that damage their health (the "effective" ones are toxic).
@LeClassics /all/ the asians don't dye their hair. I personally will never dye it a lighter colour.. being skinny and having bigger eyes is pretty general with everyone no? I don't think anyone likes to be fat.. some seem to embrace it to suggest they're far from being 'stick thin', but having a BMI from 20-25 is best for health, unless you're an athlete. You don't have to use these strips to have bigger eyes.. you can use makeup or glue/cream or even go under the knife. Who are you to judge?
@LeClassics having light skin.. well that means you want to have less exposure to sunlight if you want to stay fair. Your skin accumulates the sun's energy so over time you may develop skin cancer and get leathery skin. The Asian standard prefers paler skin as a sign of beauty (though not all Asians prefer it of course) because being tanned may make you look less appealing. Blue eyed..not really. It's just coloured contact lenses to make the eyes bigger and they come in colours. Not whitewashed.
@LeClassics So what does it say about Caucasian people that tan like crazy till they're like leather or use fake tanning lotions until they're orange? Are they wannabe Black people just because they prefer having tanned skin? And are only Caucasian people allowed to dye their hair color then? If they dye their hair dark brown or black are they supposed to be Asian wannabes?? People like you are hilarious!! Maybe we just want to change up our look and dye our hair for the sake of dying our hair..
@LeClassics See, when asians and other races live in places with tons of white people (not trying to be racist, just trying to make a point), they tend to get criticized and over-commented. I personally would use the duo eyelid tape. I do have monolids and just want to get the fold. There are a couple reasons why I want to, but the main one is to look better in a place where no one's used to monolids.
i got this! the result just look like the glue one. but this one is better than the glue bcuz its stickier than the glue one. i got it from imomoko. it is such an amazing beauty website! it got everything from taiwan, japan, and hk. some is expensive some is cheap. so far, wonder eyelid tape is the best~~~~~~~
i remove it with eye makeup remover instead of just tearing it off. it hurts sooo baddddd~

Is the eyelid tape visible? When people look closely at you, can they tell you have the tape on?

MrDontclickthisname 2 years ago
@MrDontclickthisname
Uhh people don't use it to look less "asian". Having double eyelids is simply what many asian people perceive as what is beautiful.
If anything, using it is "more asian" since really only asian people do it.
And ALSO, in light of the fact that people KEEP COMMENTING that it HURTS... you OBVIOUSLY never actually tried it.
I've tried it.. and it doesn't hurt. No one else who uses it that I know of says it hurts.

when people say it hurts, i think they mean taking it off.. :)
otherwise i would agree with everything here.
