Until I started making PS3 games, I would have to put the Lynx development system as hands-down the best integrated development environment - and it still has the best feature ever - bus-trace recording for when you crash - you can see all the events and code leading up to the crash. The Epyx folks were top-notch asm coders and the libraries showed it.
As for stories - much of what you read about game development back then was true - 'nuff said. Oh, and Qix took 2 months - start to finish.
The psycho baseball players who smash at people are bad enough, but the insane foes who set themselves ON FIRE just to run into Larry and take him with them -to hell !, Suicide ,and this way is very painful...there's no future in it.
@leechapman76 I've worked on many from a variety of diciplines, notably worked on SimCity 2000 and The Next Tetris a while ago, and now working with SOE on their latest title.
I've gotten further, I made it to the 4th level as a kid but couldn't beat the boss (who looks like the texas guy out of the simpsons). I might download this on the emulator. Here's a tip though, conserve your bullets by using the punch and try to hang on to that machine gun for as long as you can (instead of picking up the pistol). Unfortunately the level after the one you see is just the same background, which kinda sucks,...oh well would like to see someone win this :(
@bindoggus - That's cool. Thanks for the tips. I'd love to see your video if you do decide to make one. I hope you will. I'd be very interested in seeing what the rest of the game looks like. Sometime after I recorded this, I did get a little farther, but I don't think I actually finished the level. I did beat the Rasta, though. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@leechapman76 Until I started making PS3 games, I would have to put the Lynx development system as the best IDE I have used - bus trace rules!

You can beat him by ducking and shooting 4 shots. It's not the end boss. For the end boss make sure you have enough bullets and duck and jump.
Lot more levels after this. After this you get the warehouse level (and few more levels after that).

@Luke48 - That's cool. I hope you'll post a video of all that. I'll be interested to see the rest of the game.
