What about a marriage certificate, though Im sure the 1900 census would be a good way to prove her age, maybe they have a family Bible. However there still one woman whose lived at least three years longer than her, Jeanne Calment who was 122. However living to be 119 is impressive and so is having 4th great grandchildren. no she's not the oldest of all time...There was a woman in Russia that lived 137 yrs. and proof with birth certificate.. She said her secret was garlic and some other things she ate that I forgot...

@quezcatol Well good genetics isn;t everything you know ? You need to stay healthy as well.these 2 combined will result in a long life.. Garlic is a natural antibiotic remedy, onion as well. Long time ago in Europe, my great grandmother use to cut an onion in 2 when the family would be in danger of getting the flu.and that is what saved them. Once my grandma was sick from flu, and her mother cut the onion and the next day, the onion had a light brown color because it absorbed all the germs.

According to experts, she is only around 106 years old (she was checked in the 1920 and 1930 censuses). She still can become the oldest person in 9 years or so, even without a birth certificate.

You know I had a patient once who was a 101 years old...and I told her what a blessing it had to be to make it to be 101. She told me it was alright, but the saddest thing about it is that everyone you were really close to(family and friends) are now gone. It really made me think. I'm glad this lady has her grandson there with her.

I pray that I live to my 100s in good health like her! I work as a nurse aide and I have dealt with people in their 100s and it is so amazing to hear their stories/memories. I hope I live long like this in good health and I hope I can still do things for myself too and I pray that I will be in my right mind like her! Rebecca Lanier is so cool! 119 years God bless her! Its too bad that birth certificates didn't exist back in the day for African-Americans. :(

The reporter is an idiot or a liar. Most states didn't issue birth certificates for anyone (of any race) until after 1900. Mississippi only has birth certificates available from 1912.

However, Rebecca should be able to prove her age by being in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census records.

Well, be fair. It wouldn't be the first time an old person lied about his or her age to be the oldest living person. We had some guy claiming to the last living AMerican slave with no proof whatsoever. He made money off it. Charlie Smtih was 105 in 1979, but he claimed to have been born in Liberia 130 years before. He was a liar, but he was a fun liar.
