I just taught my bird the 1812 Overture just record yourself saying in a bird voice what you want them to say, then get a mobile phone or an audio device that loops audio play it for 45 minutes till the bird gets tired of it then every-time you see your bird say the word in the bird tone, and slowly he should learn, it does

my parents are inlove with birds we had a extra room built off the house with sunlights and windows and perches bird houses everything just for our birds we have about 16 because the budgies just had 5 babies we have 2 cockateils :P

Very cute!! I can definitely hear his words. My cockatiel can talk too, and says things like "take a bath" and "eat your spaghetti". His intonation is exactly like mine, so I know what he's saying. Some of his words are super clear, though some are not.  But he does know what he means...he'll say his bath words when he hears running water, etc.

my old bird sibletweet when I was like a month old could say her name. She was like: "Sibletweet, sibletweet." i love it when birds can talk. Its really fun, i'd go into flocks (a bird store) and talk to the parrots. Really fun. :)

speaking of foot phones, my bird says "Hello!!" everytime my phone rings! any cockatiel near a phone can learn this. took my bird about a month cause our phone doesnt ring often.

how do i get my birds to love me :( i just got them there 8 months Pearl lutinos :( i gave them toys and a big parrot cage do i just leave them alone or play with them take them out or just leave them in for a week and talk to them :(

Just offer him seed in your hand, and once in a while attempt to pat him - it also depends on the pick of pack, that is he ether agressive, or he is tame

He can talk, cockateils are not as good speakers as say parrots or other talking bird, infact word talking cockateils are rare, especially in Australia. If yoou do a search on Youtube you find cockateils that sing or whistle not talking ones

Play an audio file that is easy to sound out, repetitively from a tape, cd player or from a cell phone, my cockateil can vaigely whistle the Nokia Theme tone - talking cockateils are rare though

Hi.

I have owned my cockatiel, Petey for going on a year. not a day goes by where i don't repeat "pretty boy" "pretty baby" and "pretty petey" to him.. he will not say it.

any tips? I would be so happy to get him to say at least one thing! I try so hard and I cant get anything out of him.

I also just rescued a female cockatiel from these people that were going to release into the wild!

she seems to be smart and I want to work with her more too..

I might depend on its personallity. However This may sound annoying, but record you voice on a cell/mobile phone, set the audio player to repeat and let it play for an hour each day and see if he responds.

My daughter's cockatiel Poopers says many things on purpose. For instance, if he hears me call the dogs' names he will whistle for them, and if I tap the top of my head he says "Poopers, come here!" He also says "I hate David!" (that's my abusive ex, who used to scream at the birds to shut up.) Tell me they aren't smart birds!
