The Marx bros. never got better than Duck Soup...the gags and one-liners never stopped...in most of their movies there were "dry scenes" used to develop plots and unfunny characters that no one even cared about....this was mainly true during their later MGM movies. They were at their best when unleashed, and a flimsy plot was used just to keep their gags in order.
I make skits that are chock-full of puns and one-liners, please take a look and let me know what you think! I'm a huge fan of The Marx Brothers and want to reach out to an audience who likes that sense of humor
I was only about 13 or so when my dad showed me Duck Soup for the first time. This is the greatest comedy ever made for its time. Groucho was extremely funny and had such a wit. I only hope to be a fraction of the man he was.
I can't decide if I prefer "Here's one I picked up in a dancehall. Here's another one I picked up in a dancehall." or "Well, a gal a day is enough for me. I don't think I could handle any more."
Hi fellow MB freaks! I invite you to enjoy my new master class on the music of Chico and Harpo. Free, hilarious, and very educational! Type in "Dave Frank" Marx on Youtube.
Sorry, quote 2 should be "On second thought, I'd rather dance with the cows until you come home." Thanks to those who pointed out my late-night error !
Thank you for making this available. The Marx Brothers were my favorite Actors in Comedy films. In Laughter Therapy, These Were The Best. The wit is outstanding. And you never heard a curse word.
I had the pleasure of playing Margaret Dumont's role onstage for the first time as Gloria Teasdale and it was quite an experience!!! We had wonderful actors that played all four of the Marx Brothers...I think they all would have been very proud!

is this supposed to be a comedy? i cant tell, and modern? this is pathetic! its like jokes u find in a xmas cracker :(, why cant americans do comedy!?
Hey marcel Just because it isn't riddled with "jokes" about knicker knockers and farts like English "humor" I still enjoy watching it time and time again.
@MichaelKingsfordGray You're so right. It's some of the tightest comedy dialogue ever written. It mixes wordplay, setup/punch, monologue, it's all just brilliant. It ages so beautifully (except the phonograph needle!) I also love his mugging for the camera. I'll stop gushing now, I just love Groucho
@edinburghmike I think the send line is : 2. "I could dance with you until the cows come home. On second thought, I'd rather dance with the cows and you come home."

never thought the marx brothers were
a scream. not roflmao funny but its
dry humor. the wit is brilliant from the
refined slaptick to puns to daring satire disguised as goofiness. the horselaughs
from jokes are great. then the joke is old.
but the movie scenes you want to see again. they dont get old. they grow on you.
the marx brothers are the thinking man's
three stooges. groucho especially is not
so much funny as fun. enjoying himself.

Two immortal lines in one clip :
1. "Will you marry me ? Did he leave you any money ? Answer the second question first." and
2. "I could dance with you until the cows come home. On second thought, I'd rather dance with you until the cows come home."
How wonderful, how marvellous ! Groucho was truly a giant of classic comedy.

OR
"You know you haven't stopped talking since I came here? You must've been vaccinated with a phonograph needle."
