Easiest way to make a difference between German and Finnish troops in WWII is the belt buckle. The Germans had solid flat buckles and Finns used a hollow square with pin visible. In German belts it said "Gott mitt Uns" And the Finnish ones had a writing "Ole Valmis" = "Be Ready".

Well, the military help was just one side of the medal.

It was Germany who granted the Soviets a "sphere of influence" including Finland and therefore encouraged them to invade in the first place.

So yes, they did something to help the Finns out of a trouble they had caused to the Finns themselves.

The USA did not lose the miltary war in Vietnam but the US populace including many military members from Private to General thought the war was unnecessary, a result of the muddled Cold War situation, which indeed it was. Those are both Finnish and German troops. Finns used the same helmet as the Germans, so sometimes it's a bit hard to distinguish between them.
