How do you know it didn't hit the central core? that always puzzled me, why did they have to fly down that bloody corridor getting everybody wasted, just fly at the entrnce hole thing from directly above...STAY ON TARGET>>>STAY ON TARGET>>>AARRRGGGHHHHHHH
They couldn't because the tower guns would knock them out as they positioned for the shot and waited for the targeting computer to lock on target. In the trench the shooting wasn't as bad and they handled it easily. They just didn't plan for Vader and his Ties to be there.
