  • Drummers, what is the advantage to employing a paradiddle as opposed to a simple L-R-L-R? Is it speed? A roll or like pressroll is L-R-L-R and seems to go pretty well fast enough. Is it strictly a dexterity rudiment or something that you might use while playing out? I love playing drums but I am not a drummer.

  • his peak was at :30 it should have been around :20

  • 27 dislikes! Who in their sad little mind 'Dislikes' someone playing the drums! Awesome playing

  • @skerr661 correct..he is playing an accent

  • The secret is in the sticks :D

When they touch the drum, they goes up and to make it faster, they must be pushed down again when they start to go up :D

  • I just starting taking drum lessons a year ago, why do I SUCK so bad at paradidles? I still can't seem to improve my speed on them

  • i think the single paradiddle is the most difficult of the three. reason being you have to learn to switch from single to double strokes really quickly. i actually had a much easier time going from triple paradiddles, to double, then finally singles. not sure if im giving bad advice but it worked for me so if anyone is struggling they should try that out and see if it helps.

  • With double hit you can do it also faster!

  • he sounds like he's hitting a table and not a pad

  • Wow...when it gets to 35 seconds i cant keep up :(

  • My left is also crap so I've been working on traditional grip instead of match grip for the past year and a half. Sooo much better for doubles, triples, and paradiddles. However single strokes around the kit is easier in match grip when I have to reach and move around the kit.

  • woa how do you do that so fast!!???

  • he has major pad hands

  • You failed on the second note when you didn't lift the stick to prepare for your next accent even at a slow tempo.

  • What kind of Drumpad is that your using?

  • Like this? PA ta ta ta Pa ta ta ta Pa ta ta ta Pa ta ta ta Pa ta ta ta Pa ta ta ta PatatataPatatataPatatataPatatataPATATATATATATAPATATPAPTAPTPATPAPTPATPATPAPTPATPATPAPPTPATPPTPTPAPTPSDPAPTPATPTAPTPTAPPqqqqqqqPAPTPATPATPAAAAAaaa Pa ta ta ta Pa ta ta ta Pa ta ta ta Pa ta ta ta Pa ta ta ta..............................................................................ta

  • he's good.

  • i can only get to 0:25 :[

  • @rekab00001 it depends, are you new to drumming?

  • @SuperVegito001 no ive been playing for a long ass time, i can do everything except paradiddles :/

  • @rekab00001 oh, well just keep practicing then

  • @rekab00001 me to....... and hes super i am new too lol

  • @rekab00001 lol, me too. I can't see a way past this for me either?

  • WAT

    I can't even think that fast :(

  • fucking hard!

  • one thing that helped me i got this game on playstation 2 called Taiko drum master get that it's fun :)

  • Curse you paradiddle!!!!

  • RLRRLRLLRLRRLRLLRLRRLRLLRLRRLRLL

  • HELP!

I have been trying to get this rudiment down for 2 weeks and I STILL cant do it slow

Is there some trick to this no one is telling me about?

  • @SomeGuyWithABucket your left hand sucks

  • good one ahah xD

  • OMG 0:30

  • damn... i learned this a month ago and im still going super slow pace... i dont practice paradiddles much though but ill start cus hopefully that would give me some cool fills... i am a decent self-taught drummer

  • search: amorphic drum

    what is this technique??

  • @willforty2 Umm. He's playing some tight beats consisting of interesting hi-hat patterns that I wish I knew how to play. I don't think there is really a "technique" for this style and I'm not sure what the category for this style of play may be either. It's cool tho.

  • very good . the end.

  • did he get the stick to rebound as he get faster?

  • i can do it till about 3/4 through then im just fucked. way too fast. but im practicing

  • @Matthewbcd yeah dude just keep practicing. I noticed that in drumming theres alot of repeating that needs to be done to be good

  • That's why it's awesome to be left handed!!!

  • One of my favorite rudiments, It's RLRR-LRLL-RLRR-LRLL with an accent on the first hit. I wonder if he started "bouncing" when he was doing it fast on the doubles.

  • this excercise is so har to do fast

  • OMG! This guy is fast!

  • เก่ง มาก คับ

  • The best thing you can do, besides just playing paradiddles consistently, is just take the right hand away and work on what the left hand plays. You can do this to work on and better any rudiment. I hope it helps.

  • lol thats what I do all day banging with the sticks on a piece of rubber xD

  • RLRRLRLLRLRRLRLLRLRRLRLLR :D

  • Check out drumrudimentposter.comx <---minus the x ...bought this DVD and poster a month ago and now I'm like pro at all 40 drum rudiments... It helped me out a lot... I hope it could do the same for you :)

  • Yeah I'm always having trouble with the left keeping up with the right. Wish I was a lefty, but then I guess I'd have the same problem but with the right haha

  • @Axxisss

Yep. In fact it's better to learn them without any accent at all, and then learn all the variations with different accent patterns.

  • What is that ur playing on? called?

  • just a practice pad, remo and some other companies make nice ones

  • when i get fast with this the open parts with one hand tend to go twice as fast as the other part and it sounds like i'm playing triplets.

  • I do that when my left hand can't keep up as well, it just means you got to slow it down and practice more at a speed you can handle.

  • Thanks! The explanation is very good. There is not a better explanation that you showing... Forgive me I am not very good with the English language.. good luck! take care!

  • Que Bueno! Muy buena la explicacion! Gracias!

Thanks! The explanation is very good. There is not a better explanation than you playing that.. Forgive me I am not very good with the English language.. good luck! take care!

  • i practice parridles all the time and i still cant pass 175bpm!!! its so frustrating its like i hit a wall...

  • wow .getting faster so clear is very cool !

  • If my left hand were as good as my right, I might be able to do that... I just cant get that left hand to keep up!

  • @joelhigh I have the same exact problem, its like soon as i start to really pick up speed my left hand suddenly stiffens up & dies

  • dude your awesome!

  • dude, his awesome what?

  • Awesome!

  • thx man

  • w u a u w

  • where the fuck do u get the roll

  • I hate my old drum teacher TBH i dont play much so I kinda suck but she was the worst teacher ever EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE that Ive seen knows that a paradiddel is RLRRLRLL...etc but she taught me it was LLRRRRLL...etc God I hate her also she only taught us blues. Bitch!

  • @gamegeek2107 play some more and combine the small things you have learned from her with your own style. You'll see it's not all that bad I guess. But I feel your pain.

  • sweet timing O.o

  • you know what? my right hand is crappy - but my left hand can play along really fast blast-beats. i've been a lefty all my life, but when it comes to drumming i use the normal set up... i find it funny :D

  • same here man! lol

  • the left hand. everything sounds like crap unless the left hand is as strong as the right. or at least close. that's my main problem now. i keep drilling the left for as long as i can stand it, but man it's like rehabilitating stroke victim sometimes. why is my left so horrible?

  • @digitaldown because you are right handed .... some things you might try that have helped me include ... playing double strokes on the snare , quarter notes on hi hate w/foot and straight 16ths with your bass drum ... the challenge is to not flam your foot with hand notes that land together ... you will probably find that your left hand is lagging behind a little bit ... tighten this up and you will see improved strength and accuracy with your left hand ...

  • @digitaldown you can also improve your left hand when you are not at the drums ... just do ordinary activities with your left hand ... opening a jar , turning the knob on a door , inserting a key into a lock ... all the things you normally do with your right hand , try to do with your left hand

  • yeah using your left for ordinary things IS good. I try to remember to do things lefty. try to make it habit. also over the last two weeks i do this exercise where i hold my left arm down on my knee so i can only move from the wrist. then i make strikes forcefully making sure the stick goes straight up and straight down. i do this until i can feel the burn in my fore arm. i believe my left feels stronger since doing this a few times a day.

  • thanks for the tip. i guess i'm really looking for encouragement. I mean how long does it take to get the left working? sure everyone's different and depends on how much you practice. i just want to practice as effectively as i can. sometimes it just seems like i practice so much and see little or no progress. been drumming only less than one year so i suppose i just need to be patient. how's your left hand? how long did it take u to get ur rolls reasonably smooth?

  • @sweetfly66 even fapping

  • @dropsykes ... especially fapping

  • @sweetfly66 lol like writting in the chool with the wrong hand .. xD

  • I'm a lefty and play the righty way so in short, ambidextrous in terms of drumming :]

It might help you to reverse your kit around and start over?

  • @digitaldown

my method is to play left handed why practicing.

this is like a simple way to build your left hand. simple not easy

of course your right hand is stronger not just bc your right handed. its because you use it more often. so switching your hands is a great not only to build strength in your opposite hand but also to build coordination

  • @digitaldown cause u dont use the left hand 2 much like the right

  • @digitaldown I'm left-handed, so I've got the same problem with my right hand. Really sucks ... Same with the legs, damn.

  • @Kleina15 that was some months ago i made that comment about my left hand drumming. i've been working on my left hand religiously for some months. I can tell you it's still not 100 percent, but i have made tremendous progress. stick with it. it really can take years. you just have to keep working that weak hand. like i mean punish it. until it hurts. no pain no gain.

  • @digitaldown Don't feel bad, everybody's left hand sucks. Obviously there's left hand - intensive exercises you can do (RLLLRLLL or something) until your hand falls off, and it will greatly help. But, I've been playing / teaching for 30 years and my right still out performs my left...

  • @digitaldown

My director said to me( I have the same problem) that I'm gripping my left to hard and it's forcing the sound out instead of loosening it and letting it bounce naturally. I do my best to try to loosen up.

  • @digitaldown haha xD that happens with me too, but it's not a matter of be or not to be strong, it's only a matter of coordination

  • @digitaldown Try starting everything in your left hand for a bit, it might help. I know it did for me

  • @Folcation i'm ambidextrous, i use both
