  • Is it me, or does it seem these old engines always need a Diesel helping them anymore. are they getting that weak?

  • Nice job with this!

  • Did this train ever go thru MontEagle, the tallest mountain in Tennessee?

  • thumbs up if your here cause of black books

  • Who is Singing in this?

  • The 610 is one of the 3 Chattanooga Choo Choos. The other 2 being 630, and 4501, and they'll be steaming again soon.

  • love the beginning

  • Wait........don't you voice Frank in MOAB series?

  • this isnt the chattanooga choo choo its the tn valley railroad museum

  • Yay! I love the vocal version of the song.

  • Does YouTube's terms of service give them the right to sell advertising space over the top of your video?

The album shown in the ad isn't on iTunes.

  • yes sir

  • love those engines!

  • nice place i wanna visit and cool song!

  • My grandpa used to do the jitterbug to this song. It was his favorite and it's my favorite as well.

  • Since you live in Tennesee I`m not surprised

  • Sweet video! I got to ride 4501 to Chattanooga in '92. So much fun :D

  • Nice Video. Who is the interpret of this song? It isn't Glen Miller, right?

  • well if it was the correct version it would be Glen Millen but this definatlly isnt him and his orchestra he is the origional composer of it..I am directlly related to him

  • This is the Glen Miller Orchestra, but with new people, sense it's more modern. The orginal had the male singer, Tex Beneke.

  • hmm very intersting my grandmother used to tell me of being related to Glen Miller but in those days I never really cared much to listen to her I was young and stupid I have sence come to appreciate his music now as I am alot older this is interesting I can hear the origional orchestra with the modern singer very interesting....and I allways thought the song to be wrong about the track 29 but I was explained they ment at Penn station not Chattahooga as there is no track 29 there hmm

  • this was in josh turner's long black train.

  • #610, you go you ol' girl. Keep it up your doing a great job.

  • That sure looks like a cool railroad, I'd sure like to go there.

  • I hope they use the GP30 or the RSD1 this year.

  • diesel behind the steam engine not cool :(

  • Yep, very uncool.

  • A very good clip...

  • What's with the diesel?

but a good rendition of the song!

  • Well the reason is that 610 can't pull the 6 coaches the train had. That and maybe the train needed HEP.

  • 610 can only pull 5 cars by itself on that particular trackage. on the autumn leaf specials i've been on they've had 7 cars thus needing the GP7 for extra motive power. the real kicker is the grade on the return trip that starts at n chamberlain ave road crossing and ends about where the belt line ties back into the TVRM main. all of the fixed window (non-opening) cars have their own generator from a small diesel (like 30 hp or so) engine.

  • @NCStL576 the diesel is usually there to power the coaches.

  • @VillageIdiotPro if you are talking about the TVRM trains, no the diesel is not there for H.E.P., all of the A/C coaches have their own generators. The diesel is to help pull the train over Missionary Ridge, cause that is a pretty nasty grade over through there.

  • @NCStL576 TVRM's cars aren't equipped for HEP

610 just needed a push, cause her limit is 5 cars on the C&C

  • @NCStL576 I'm not sure why it was that way in the video, but when I rode in 2007, it was just 610 and the coaches, no diesels in the train.

  • The #610 may be an army steamer, but it is small compared to other 2-8-0 Consolodation's. So the max is 5 cars without the diesel, because at the 2007 N.R.H.S. Convention, #610 and GP7-L #1829 Led an 11 car train down to Summerville, 12 cars if you count #610's water Tender.

  • for braking reasons

  • No, that's NOT Mel Torme' singing...I don't know who it is (it's certainly not the original Tex Beneke version). Mel Torme's voice is very distinguishable, and this is NOT HIM...Does anybody know who this is?

  • This particular arrangment of the song was performed by the Glenn Miller estate orchestra as lead by condutor Larry O'Brian. The vocal group featured in this song were known as The Serenaders. While it's alright in my opinion, it's stil not nearly as good the original version performed by the orginal Glenn Miller Orchestra that was featured in the film "Sun Valley Serenade".

  • choo! choo!!

  • I've got the 1824 on my train sim too. Lots of fun to drive it, & pulls like a dream.

  • Very nicely done! That's the perfect song.

  • nice vid we had a couple of E8s sent up here from that place i think. know anything about that?

  • Yes. Those are from the Tennessee CENTRAL. Not the Tennessee Valley. But you're close. The E8's have been repainted to original livery and they are both brothers with E8 6902, which is still down here.

  • yeah theyve been repainted in New York Central livery, i know the guy that owns them!

  • That was NOT Glenn Miller's Verison of the Chatanooga Choo Choo That was Mel Torme' Verison a album called the "In the Digital Mood" it was realeced on Gold Disc

  • very nostagic.. I think I was born 20 years too late :p

  • i went ther on 8-17-07...they didnt let us ride the train

  • Why's that?

  • im a member i work that train every year

  • i wanna go on it so bad. just havent made the trip there yet!

  • I was there last summer! It was awsome! I also saw the 4501 there.

  • Maybe somday #4501 will ride the rails.

  • amen

  • Great video. Glad to see you got up in the cab, we got up there too.

  • Is that the special "Rare Milage" excursion run by TVRM not too long ago?

  • Nah. They do this every year.

  • Sweet!
