It's true - check out his great performance of "I'm Goin' Away (Just to Wear You Off My Mind)", which he made accompanying Edna Hicks on Victor record 19083 in 1923. You can hear it as a RealAudio file on the Edna Hicks page of the RedHotJazz website.
Those are some great arrangements and great rolls. The Steinway looks and sounds wonderful.
