  • Some people are simply not capable of seeing that they have hurt another person....

i think they will never be able understand this movie ...

  • 1999 was a hell of a year in movies. Fight Club, American Beauty, Election, Sixth Sense, Being John Malkovich, The Matrix, The Insider, Eyes Wide Shut, Talented Mr. Ripley, Cider House Rules, The Green Mile, and Magnolia. I'll never forget the first time I saw it, it was one of the most powerful cinematic experiences I ever had.

  • ... “Magnolia”... Que Recuerdos... Que Linda & Mágica Película... Quizás no tuvo todo el reconocimiento que merecía... Pero es de las películas, que después de verla... Uno se convierte en una Mejor Persona...

  • One of Tom Cruise's best movies. Disregard his personal life and you'll realize he's an incredible actor.

  • What is the message behind these words?

  • @Sqvusz it's not going to stop, til you wise up.

  • wondeful.

  • so just...give up!

    best film!

  • @myelfenohr ....absolut.... Philip Seymour Hoffman.... Grandios...

  • On of the most powerful scenes I have ever seen in an movie. Period.

  • Few better uses of music in film. In fact I can't think of one better. Help me, please. Seriously.

  • @slapdaddy1234 Well, in stanley kubrick's films, like a clockwork orange, or 2001 a space odyssey, it's really good too... And i suppose there are a lot of other films with a really good use of music, but i just can't think of it right now. ;)

  • @arslongavitabrevis1 Reading this Psycho and Requiem for a Dream come to my mind. The list should be endless though. Films live of their music!

  • it's not going to stop!!

  • 21 people haven't wised up.

  • What would life be like without art?

  • Had never respected Cruise as an actor before this film

  • @TheHolandos I agree. It was the closest I came to crying during a movie, while watching him break down. The entire movie was perfect.

  • @yvranks agree totally. I like tom cruise and his acting was good here, but he was totaly out shinned by the rest of the cast. Especially by claudia and moore

  • This movie is a emotional tourism in the sense you like to see apreciate but dont wish to stay/feel this yourself. Or may be..

  • amazing movie, just WOW

  • @mryoung91 The whole cast is incredible. Tom Cruise had the best performance of if life in this, and he looks like an overacting amateur among real actors.

  • Simply one of the most emotional scenes of fucking cinema history.

  • Ten years ago I saw this movie and fell in love with it. Last year I watched it again and loved it just as much as I had the first time. Beside the incredible writing and performances, the music is as much a character in the movie as everything else. I would honestly list this as one of the best, most profound movies I've ever seen.

  • She means give up the shit we are doing that is bringing us down and that is making us miserable. She IS NOT!! telling us to end our lives or commit suicide you Dumbwits!. We can be abused as a child or the world might have been freaking cruel to us but we still have choices and we can take charge of our lives instead of sinking in depression and jus live with it. She is telling us to turn things around. You either wake up and do something now or never do it... either ways Its Not Going To STop.

  • MAGNIFICENT MOVIE especially as an american.no cheese.love it.

  • One of my all-time favourite moments in one of my all-time films.

  • @GregOrCreg What about the firecracker scened in Boogie Nights? Beautiful scene.

PT Anderson is such an AMAZING Director.

  • ...my absolut top favourite....i love Philip Seymour Hoffman,...

...there is so much hope, love and shows the real life.....

  • i feel like giving up. this song reaches into my despair, my hopelesness. i wish i could wise up but just wish to give up...stopping this impossible nightmare.

  • @filthyjuden This song reminds me that the only way to wise up IS to give up. give up your judgments of how things should be. give up your expectations for things that cannot change right now. be exactly what you are in this moment. alive, aware, and free to take your next breath.

  • I think that the only reason that people call this movie "depressing" is because of the fact that it had to end. If they would've shown Jim and Claudia getting together, or Donnie Smith and Brad or something then people would probably feel happier when the left this movie. But that's really the point of the whole thing, it's a horrible random dreary world but if you use your own imagination about how the movie ended then it isn't so bad after all.

  • @Ichiboy900 This is happening

  • @YoungStevesie um...yeah, it...is?

  • @Ichiboy900 I made the mistake of taking a first date to this movie. She absolutely hated it whereas I absolutely loved it; needless to say there was no second date. A typical movie may have 1 to 3 real scenes that evoke real emotions. This move has countless raw emotional scenes that dealt with a multitude of issues that I think we've all experienced at some point. The acting was so good and the writing sublime. I think people who hate this movie are people who don't have real passion in life.

  • @billdekay Agreed.

  • @Ichiboy900 if you reflect and realize continuity through closure.

    Well put into words.

  • @Ichiboy900 i tend to think that there is many people that confuse the word depressing with eye opening. ;-)

  • @Ichiboy900 even if its depressing, who cares? it's amazing anyway.

  • Great move, great song, great cast... I could go like that for a bit, but I'll say GREAT!!!

  • One of the most brilliant scenes in modern cinema. Anderson is a god.

  • and this is the best song ever. so just give up

  • this is and will always be my top movie :'(

  • still is and always will be in my top ten movies. The cast is simply perfect and thank you Aimee Man for a depressingly gorgeous soundtrack that really lets us feel this film. Wonderful scene that brings the cast together like no other soundtrack piece I have ever seen because it allows its cast to be aware of the soundtrack rather than just using it as backing....rarely used on this scale (multiple sites at once), and really well used by such a talented film maker.

  • So, acceptance, tolerance, and developing a creative way to cope is the way to wise up; instead of using vices. All the little things we use to avoid facing fears; facing the truth - we need to give up on those because it's not going to stop until we decide to do what we know we should. I love the honesty of the cop and how he gets to date the blond girl who's right on the edge of sanity.

  • Thats why I love Paul Thomas Anderson.. he has BALLS! He has to be one of the most confident directors ever, every movie he's done has a scene(s) that just surpass everything I thought I knew about Cinema. That's why I always look forward to his films. In theory this scene shouldn't work... but it does and amazingly well.

  • depression

  • Putting a musical number in the middle of a non-musical film is almost always a terrible, catastropnic idea that will ruin your whole movie.

    I said almost always.

Very brave directing. Beautiful song. All-star cast. Jaw-dropping piece of cinema.

  • In the movie , Claudia's life is really shocking , sometimes I feel like her. Beautiful song :) Aimee is pure talent

  • for 15 people it's never going to stop...

  • @TheSexyteddeybear

It's called "Magnolia" its a great film.

  • my all time fave movie

  • Magnolia is one of the most well written and directed films of all time. PTA is a god.

  • Couldn't find an HD version of this song/scene on YouTube, so I uploaded one! :D

Check it out on my channel. : )

  • Not gonna lie, cried at this scene.

  • Pure innocence

  • I love this song, this is a modern day picasso.

  • @kelleycoleman1122 Well-put. PTA is working in a paradigm that defies previous aesthetic boundaries. My favorite film ever.

  • very moving

  • 14 people doesn`t have a heart

  • once again..im on state of mind where i look my life's history....it was generally pretty good..i never gave up.

today i just sit on a couch and want to die.

when i listen this song i got power to carry on.

without sadness and sence music i would be gone.it's funny but i love to be sad.

god bless this artist and music generally

  • @MrHollow68 - some truly believe all they deserve is to be sad and/or just want to feel something...

  • 13 people don't want it to stop and don't want to wise up

  • @navy4181 I think it's more like: 13 people (and now 14, including me) realize that the song is way out of pitch in this particular upload. Bring the pitch only a little higher, and we would be listening to Alvin and the fucking Chipmunks.

And @lecken69: Just... don't fuck up good music, please. Thanks.

  • @godvergeten

    14 people don't want(it) to wise..er..um...I mean... speed up.

  • ...it's not gonna stop.

  • Solo quiero gritarrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

  • so beatiful...i also cry....

  • unpassender username

  • @2010Knight2010 haha :D

  • This is SO Moving! I'm crying right now...

  • This is most likely the best movie ever made. No doubt. I <3 it so much that i can only watch it two to three times a year because it affects me that much.

  • the Beginning is so awesome

  • One of the most amazing movies ever made. Gorgeous song, gorgeous scene.

  • Magnolia - such a brilliant movie.

  • this song brings back a lot of sad memories.

  • Comment removed

  • Tom Cruise sounds a bit like James taylor.

  • @TheRedKestrel You're actually right! He does!

  • it´s so wonderful

  • please someone reupload this video with better quality!!

  • No its not going to stop, so just give up, accept yourself as you are and go on living :)

  • Word to your mom! I'm the 1000th "like" ---- what's my prize?

  • the part where they play this song in the Magnolia movie is just perfect for the scene and movie....more so than "Save Me". A long time ago when I was still in my teens I made a trip to Mass by bus and I listened to her first solo cd the whole trip on cassette. What happened to that cassette ???

  • @222Lightning you made sweet sweet love it?

  • Wer an das Gute glaubt, ist doch leider nun ebenso gekauft, wie die die es meinen zu produzieren!

  • @EthnoGnom wahre worte

  • 名シーンですね。

  • This is SOOOOOO beautiful! I just cry and cry at this beatiful piece...

  • i cried so hard during, i don't know, half of the movie. its so brilliant!

  • Till i wise up, it's not going to stop. Beautiful....!

  • never sighn away he deed

  • I've never heard a more emotionally vulnerable song. ever. Aimee is a master of the human heart. period.

  • Esta pelicula la vi una ves a las 3 de la mañana... me llego.. :(

  • 0:13 - 0:22

SO YOU HAD A BAD DAY

  • A very, very moving scene. And Magnolia is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen.

  • cómo te atrapa esta escenaa!!!! es la mejor!!

  • uh! i'm exactly the 419000th person watching this. should be more though...

  • Beautiful and sad movies .. soundtrack chills.

  • Such a moving scene by very talented actors and director PTA, coupled with the angelic sounds of Aimee Mann. That being said......RESPECT the COCK!!

  • I finished watching this film 5 minutes ago. Good film. Good song.

  • I can imagine how it must have been to that kid to make this movie.. so young dealing with so much pain and adult metaphor...I love when it rains frogs!

  • Even if never lived any of those situations it's crazy how we can identify ourselves in the scenes. Everybody feels helpless, lonely, empty, meaningless in life from time to time. I sang this song so many times in life to myself when crying.

  • paul thomas anderson is just incredible this was such a beautiful scene

  • Great scene. If anything, this song is the only thing to truly connect all of the characters together. (aside from the fact that they're suffering)

  • great movie !!!

    1 of my favorites xD

  • Americans do not make films like this. PTA was WAY above the curve on this one, and AM was perfect for the soundtrack. This film will be viewed and worshiped 100 years from now. Absolute genius.

  • MAJOR INTENSE SCENE....well there were many in this film but this hit me big time when it came out and it still does !!! This film is piece of ART !!!

  • i just saw this movie recently, it is now one of my favorites of all time

  • melancholic, beautiful...

  • This scene gives me that tingly feeling inside lol. Even Tom Cruises part. I can't stand the guy but i gotta give it to him in this movie.

  • @66ragz Tom Cruise gets a lot of shit for good reason but lets not kid ourselves he is a hell of an actor.

  • @ramblinhaze He was good in this movie. He should try doing more of this kind of work.

  • Slowly its turning around for me, i know the pain or saddness isnt going to let up soon but I'm able to supress it and if i swallow hard enough i'm able to chock it down and get out of bed in the morning. I live my life paralized with greif yet i find my self clinging to it, my greif so i don't have to face reality or move on. move on to a life with out them. i look at my kids and i see their father in their faces i see their aunts sense of humor in their laughter and i die all over again!

  • Brilliant!

  • Aimee Mann went to my high school...just sayig

  • The scene with julianne moore in the car makes me so sad. I can't believe that people feel so bad that they don't want to live anymore

  • This should be the official music video.

  • @aMUSEdNightwing I agree !!! It's great to have the different voices in the back and to see each caracter facing their own thruth... we all have to wise up in our lifes, each of us for our own reasons. I relate so much with the girl doing drugs and such in need for attention that she falls in love with the first guy knocking on her door !... and it has too be a cop on top of it ! it certainly shows how desperate she is !

  • this song is ridiculous in a good way

  • mejor imposible !

  • A scene you'll never forget. You can really feel the people's suffering. Magnolia is the greatest movie ever in my opinion, and it has the best soundtrack I've ever heard.

  • linda linda linad

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G song for A-M-A-Z-I-N-G movie!

  • deap down it touched me..

  • wonderfull film!

  • everyone's gonna hate me for saying this so ill prepare you...

one, I do LOVE this movie, it's beautiful and one of the most inventive scripts.

But even though I like the idea of the scene, and I watch this video all the time,

it looks so fake and unrealistic. I get that this isn't the most "realistic" movie, but I've always felt this scene was a tad bit unnecessary...

  • @brickbusterful : Magnolia discusses chance vs. destiny among its intertwined story line. I think the idea behind this scene was to unite the characters' suffering. I though the scene was brilliant.

  • I don't know how to give up!!

  • I don't know how to give up!!

  • This is one of the most emotional scenes ever made. Every performance is true to life, every look is human and real. The music is perfect in showing their inner pain and regrets in life.

  • @Ramboshaw Agreed. My favourite scene from probably my favourite film.

  • Beautiful scene. Great movie.

The song fits the scene perfectly. In the sense that these characters are depressed, lonely, and regretting the past. I also like to think that in real life that we are not alone in our despair, that somewhere in that same exact moment someone else is just as sad or depressed. That we are not alone in our pain.

  • that is so true

  • beautiful sentiment!

  • Beautiful

  • You think

    One drink

Will shrink you 'til you're underground

    And living down

But it's not going to stop

    'Til you wise up

  • Great song by Aimee Mann. Great for the movie and for life in general. Thanks and God bless.

  • It's not going to stop i know, i know it's not going to stop, the pain and anger i hold dear to my heart because anger and regret isall i feel. my husband died on 9/11 and my twin sister was killed by a drunk driver. it's the desire to hold on to them that is killing me. i don't know how to let go!! i have this montra in my head that a life lost is not lost if not forgotten, but the anger and hate i feel is whats killing me how do i even beging to release my soul from the torment???

  • @egotrippin007 : I do not believe that we are here to forget what has happened to us. Sometimes it feels like we have to undergo bad experiences in order to WISE UP. Honey, noone said life would be easy but it is managable. One more thing, everyone is having only those difficulties that person can face. In your case, God knows YOU can make it. Fingers crossed for you, yours M.

  • If you believe they are in a better place, you don't really have to let go, in the sense that although they are gone from this world they are still with you in spirit and someday you will be reunited. But most of all, you gotta forgive the actors that played a role in your losses, because you are still alive for a reason and life is a wonderful journey with good times and challenges which are both of value to our souls.

  • inside im crying so hard

  • the song fits so perfectly with this part of the film... P.T Anderson & Aimee Mann I salute you

  • Love this part in the movie, usually I have to play my old VHS tape and fast forward to this part in the movie!

Only reason Tom Cruise was good in this movie was because he was playing himself, the only role he can play!!

  • what was so sad about Jason Robards character was that in real life, he was dying of cancer. I think this was his last film.

  • I started crying at this scene - purely beautiful x

  • Respect the cock!

  • Hahaha :-D

  • Magnolia; one of the best screenplays, Punch-Drunk Love; one of the most well directed films, There Will Be Blood; a new age masterpiece with amazing acting, and Boogie Nights; one just one of the best movies overall. I love PTA! I'm so glad he's young, he's going to do great things.

  • Wow, I can't believe the praise for Tom Cruise I'm reading. He is without a doubt the most overated actor in Hollywood. He is an indicator not an actor. Here is where I would be feeling something if I had the courage to truly express myself. I can't deny that this is a captivating performance, but I attribute this to really good casting and direction. They basically capitalized on his innate sense of grandiosity and ego inflation.

  • is so good song, touch in my mine

  • amazing movie. amazing music.

  • Is this a movie? I guess I should see it.

  • Totally. Magnolia is a great movie. So is Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights. (Both by him) Check it out!
