Germany won and became champion. They deserved it, didn't get it as a present. On the other hand, everybody that understands football will remember that Holland was the best. Even if that wasn't a penalty for W Germany, they did have rightful one not given later on in the game and a wrong offside.
A true score would have been 3-1 to W. Germany , witch was the better team.
Ironically the so called "not as talented" team of 2010 was closer to winning then the 1974 and 1978 teams, witch were more entertaining but not as consistent and made more mistakes.

OMG you people always say "this guy cheated and then that guy cheated and this country should have won" and so on. Its either you get a penalty or not. You win or you lose. Thats football. You can argue about it wether it was right or not but deal with the fact that the winners won. That also includes the game Germany-Spain this WC. Yes germany killed australia, england and argentina but they lost to spain. And also holland lost. Face it, the winner won and stop saying "we should have won".

@LSBonnPower Spain does the same, I remember when we beat Spain in 94 all they did is complain about how Tasotti broke Luis Enrrique's nose and how they should have won and all the time it was Italy who went in to the semifnal.

@LSBonnPower that is your opinion mine is that it was justified, both players were jocking for position, trying to wrestle past each other as often happens in football and Tazotti's elbow just hapened to find Luis Enrrique's nose I saw nothing wrong with it. This kind of thing happens all the time on corner kicks when players are trying to get a position. I also saw nothing wrong with what Schumacher did to Battiston in 82 but this is all a point of view

@lucksantistaFC when you miss the ball and obstruct the other player (kicking or running into is usually the case), it's a penalty.

I don't know why everyone is so convinced that Germany played ugly football. I woud say that in terms of attractiveness they played equal to France or England. Its just that Holland were so special during this period that everyone else looked ugly.
