  • as expected its diff from the anime :P anyone watched prince of tennis

  • foot fault

  • Foooooot fauuuuuult.

  • stupid !

  • "American Twist?" What?! it's THE Twist you dumb-head.

  • @boboboomboom at first i thought it was some made up name but actually pete sampras has an american twist serve.

  • I am so gonna try this.

  • Nice foot fault!

  • this video is at a stupid angle id like to see the shot not some fool messing around -we dont even know if it was an american twist they could call it 150mph serve and no1 could tell poor video 0/5

  • FOOT FAULT!!! lmao

  • american twist is a mix of both like right in the middle between slice and kick

  • isnt american twist and kick the same thing ?

  • They're SIMILAR, the kick like a topspin.... but then again people mixed up the terms so who know what's what these days

  • american twist is a type of kick serve

  • They're types of TOPSPIN serves

  • yeah i know

  • is that an eastern backhand grip?

  • Yeah, it is.

  • gotten a lot of insight from this vid and your explanation on what to focus on and where to brush the ball really helped

odd how i learned more from your comments than the vid...haha

but besides the point my "twist" serve has greatly improved

    thx!

  • glad to hear it. One of the keys that I haven't mentioned is to make sure your motion at contact is strongly towards the back fence. This helps keep the ball deep.

how do you know if you're hitting a twist instead of straight topspin? For a righty, the twist curves left and then bounces right. Opposite action if you're lucky enough to be a lefty with a twist. I was told by the head pro I had the best kick serve in our club so its not bad but not even close to the guy that taught it to me.

  • sopez if you could express yourself with a proper sentence you would be dangerous buddy !! and ya...I AM a pro if being a pro is NOT footfaulting and getting the ball to fall on or inside those silly lines, what harsh standards to play by huh ??

  • foot fault +_+!!

  • i dont think thats a foot fault...your aloud to jump over the line as long as you hit the ball before u land which he did...actually i think ur supposed to load off ur legs and use them to power forwards into your serve for more power.

  • if u dont move ur feet while serving your obviously below a 4.0 playing lvl

  • hmm doesnt federer and sampras use a platform stance tho?

  • Are you stupid?

  • you're allowed to move your feet just dont touch the line before you make contact dumbfuck

  • thats wrong tennis stance but nice tosting =)

  • the hell is this?where did the ball land?show that.Oh and by the way,YOU COMMITTED FOOT FAULT YOU GENIOUS

  • thank you for your comment. Is that how genius is spelled?

  • Apparently not lol(on the spelling),but i do actually know hot to hit a topspin or kick serve, but most people confuse it with the twist, which is entirely different, but with a somewhat same toss,i've been looking everywhere and no one gives a clean and good explanation on how to actually hit a good Twist serve.

  • Most people would say that a twist is a form of a kick of serve. I hit a straight topspin 2nd serve for many years before learning the twist. It took about 3-4 years before I could hit the twist well. The pro that taught it to me had a the knee-buckling twist and I don't hit it nearly as well. Here are three things the pro that had me focus on:

    - extreme backhand grip instead of continental

    - toss at 12, slightly behind the head

    - Brush the ball from 8 to 3

In my video, I'm opening up too soon.

  • so when you say brush the ball from 8 to 3,do you do it diagonally upward and outward?do you iagine the clockface facing the sky or facing to the right, which would be the fence?

  • actually a twist is not a form of a kick its almost the same thing just the way the ball travels after the bounce is different

  • actually, you are mistaken. From wikipedia:

The term "kick serve" is ambiguous. Many use it as a synonym for "twist serve." But most use the term "kick serve" to refer to any serve with heavy topspin on it - that is, the topspin serve and the twist serve.

  • @vinouspleasure It is the same thing, the diference is that the twist has more spin to it if i am correct?

  • to demonstrate the skill YOU GOTTA BE ABLE TO DO THE SKILL !do i have a great forehand if i consistantly hit it beyond the baseline ?Or a great serve if i double fault ?

  • bfdlt33 yeah i no isnt he like so shit, i bet u a hundred bucks u could serve better than that for a second serve, cause ur just so pro.

  • actually, I didn't post this as a demonstration. It was posted to allow a web-based tennis community provide feedback on the service motion as a means to allow me to improve the serve.

Oddly, that community, peopled by tennis pros and authors of books on tennis, were not compelled to point out the fact that I did indeed foot fault. Instead they provided insightful comments on how to improve the serve.

Most people here know nothing about how to hit a kick serve but can see my foot fault.

  • mada mada dane.... yeah i really wanted to say that

  • mada mada dane...

  • mada mada dane...

  • always

  • okay

u guys watch to much pot

  • if thats a american twist than ur a complete failure :) its just a normal serve, whether flat of slice, twist is meant to be hit like other side of racquet or whatever

  • thank you for your comment. You obviously know nothing about tennis but you must be very unhappy with yourself and your life to call someone a complete failure based on a video of a kick serve. I suggest you seek professional help...the help of a qualified mental professional to improve your outlook on life and the help of a professional tennis pro to teach you the difference between a flat serve, twist and a slice.

    good luck and god bless,

  • wow, you pwned that guy

  • i was only joking, i was just trying to imitate the retards who keep saying ur shit when actaully ur brilliant lol u got the whole serve going brilliant and i love ur trophy position at like the 30 second mark looks very pro goodjob.

  • its still B/A

  • Yeah, it's definitely a foot-fault, but who cares? He's just trying to demonstrate his skill, he's not playing a professional match or anything

  • Somebody cannot spell !!

and THAT footfault is by more

than a fraction dude, and if it's a foot OR a fraction it is still a fault !, so shut up with the fraction shit !!

  • well it actually can be a american twist, a really bad one but still. to much predictable if u throw the ball like that u old fag

  • Thank you for your comment. I believe the word "to" in your comment should be spelled "too".

  • that is nowhere near an american twist thats a normal motion

  • obvious foot fault

  • foot fault...

  • I've been playing tennis for over 20 years, and that is a FOOT FAULT!!!! DEAL WITH IT!!!

  • You played tennis 15 years before you were born?..

  • the doesnt look look like a foot fault

and if it is its bye a fraction of an inch

and never would be noticed in a match

so shut up with the foot fault shit

  • dutchboy

do you go straigt to the side or upwards

  • are you stupid it isnt a foot fault. yes if anyone say: Foot fault everyone say foot fault. just check a little view to the foot. you must to take a tennis class. you have not a good skills yet. Check the raquet, the service is very good you can check the spin in the slow motion, you must to know that the top spin go to down very fast.

  • hey man it IS a foot faul he actually puts both its feel in the base line and ur right is hard to tell how good the spin is in slow mo

  • there was a foot fault and also u shouldnt throw the ball in front of u it should in behind ur head at around 11 o'clock

  • wat r u talking about? dont throw the ball infront of u? of cors you throw the ball infront of you. 11 oclock is for kick serves. one o'clock out in front is for a flat and 2 or 3 is for a slice sever. if your like sampras same toss for the 3 serves all out infront

  • If you're looking for good comments, YouTube is probably not the best place to look for them. For one, probably less than 1% of the people here actually play tennis. :P

  • yeah the american twist should have more wrist and less power. power is a factor but the serve is all about the spin.......oh and FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLT!

  • can you get a video w/ regular speed and better camera angle? so hard to find source of twist serve videos.

  • Foot Fault!!! FOOT FAULT!!!!! RAWR!!!! fO0o0o0o0)O0O)O)o0oT FAUuuuuauauuauaLLLlllLl1111!!!tTTTTTtttT!!!!!! ps - u should stop doing that before u hurt ur back, considering u are not that young. RAWR!!! lol

  • total foot fault

  • this is not american twist...

this is barly a twist at all...

u need to work on that alot.

by the way "Foot Fault " Lamo

  • thank you for your feedback. Since this is both "not an american twist" and "barely a twist at all", the conclusion is that this is some type of twist but not an American twist. I wasn't aware that there was another type of twist, please give us the benefit of your wisdom.

Perhaps your comments would be more useful if you detailed the work I need to do rather than commenting that I need to "work on that alot"?

  • Thank you to all of you that pointed out I foot faulted. It would be good if some more people could post the same comment.

  • seriously. you guys are amusing. but anyways, that's the american twist? i always imagined it a lot more wrist action

  • More wrist action is better; it generates more spin. But if you can swing that fast and have technique that can make up for it, I guess it's possible to not use your wrist.

Did the serve go out? It looks like you are more concerned about power than spin. Try to stay more sideways, at least through contact. Throw the ball a little farther back. Finally, get a better camera angle and better lighting. You can hardly see shit from here.

  • this is my first set of posts on youTube and its been an interesting experience. It took 3 months and 16 comments before someone actually posted an intelligent, constructive comment.

    - I am using my wrist and it pronates.

    - The serve did not go out.

    - Your idea of staying more sideways was echoed by a couple of teaching pros.

    thanks again for your comment.

  • foot fault!

  • your serve offends my eyes, Give up.

  • FOOT FAULT!!!!

  • foot fault

  • foot fault

  • that means he made a step on the line or in the court while serving

  • how did he not foot fault?? can you not see his foot pass the service line??

  • um what happened to the ball? and how did he foot fault?

  • both feet where clearly on the line before he made contact with the ball.

  • He obviously foot faulted.
