Khufu's pyramid is only thought to be a King's burial tomb because of one symbol that is thought to be "Khufu" but under inspection, doesn't look anything like its original discovery drawing in Colonel Vyse. The only thing found in the "King's Chamber" is a "coffer" that isn't even big enough to fit an adorned mummified body in. It doesn't have decorations ANYWHERE. Most evidence points towards the pyramid being used as a stellar observatory for the High Magi.

We can never truly understand an ancient culture - all we can do is deceiver their language, but we still don't know what the meaning and emotion and thought process and beliefs that were behind the language. And as far as tombs are concerned, all mummies have been found in the Valley of the Kings, and there is nothing in the Great Pyramid that plainly says "I was a tomb" and so therefore one must ask questions.

@van1980 Going on your theory -- If 4,000 years from now, the Pyramids are once again covered up and rediscovered by a future civilization, they could certainly come to the conclusion that the Great Pyramid was used as a tomb by a great number of people in the 19th and 20th centuries, simply by finding all the engravings that explorers left inside the tomb, up in the chamber reliefs. We know that isn't true, but they would have no clue. Just like we have no clue what is actually was used for.

@platsurrt Except the ancient Egyptian name for the pyramid was "Horizon of Khufu", the hieroglyph for a tomb was a pyramid, the Egyptians themselves claimed it was Khufu's tomb, his officials and family are buried surrounding it, and mummies of his ancestors were found in their pyramids, like Sneferu's Red at Dashour. The pyramids were tombs, and the GP was Khufu's. I'm sending you a link you should read.

NOTHING says that "this is a tomb".

The boat pit discovered a few weeks ago also has Djedefre's cartouche, again. There is no controversy regarding the quarry marks, that was invented by Sitchen and disproven. Khufu's pyramid is only thought to be a King's burial tomb because of one symbol that is thought to be "Khufu" but under inspection, doesn't look anything like its original discovery drawing in Colonel Vyse. The only thing found in the "King's Chamber" is a "coffer" that isn't even big enough to fit an adorned mummified body in. It doesn't have decorations ANYWHERE. Most evidence points towards the pyramid being used as a stellar observatory for the High Magi.

Sorry - you misunderstand me: I did not say or imply that anyone was filthy - far from it. What I did say was that they were "filthily officious" which means being zealous to the point of being extremely unpleasant. As there are no paintings in the Great Pyramid the excuse of preserving paintings is not relevant. As modern cameras can work without flash, the excuse is doubly lame.
What the prohibition on cameras does is to censor informed knowledge about these structures.

They used a simple system of finding true north where they set up a circular wall perfectly level, and marked where the stars fell, and rose, take dead center of this and you will find true north.
