  • it really needs a short runway to take off...cool!

  • Exactly. WW2 Spitfires. That is about how fast this "Bad-Dream_Liner" is. 707 was 100kn faster already. Where are the days of Concorde?

  • Beautiful video. I am privileged enough to be able to build these magnificent planes, and it gives me goose bumps when I see videos like this. Makes me feel really good when our customers come into the factory and tell us how much they are looking forward to getting their planes. Thanks for sharing!

  • 26 people are airbus workers

  • If it is Boeing, I am definitely flying.

  • like if you like planes :)

  • Now there's a sight you don't see everyday.

  • Cool!

  • Magic!!!

  • I knew the UK economy was in the doldrums but bringing back the Spitfires is a bit much don't you think?? :-D

  • Are all runways that bumpy?

  • @VisionOfFlight I don't think there's a single runway in the world that doesn't have dips or waves. Perfectly normal, esp. when combined with telephoto/zoom lenses at a very-narrow-angle vantage point.

  • Escorted by a pair of British Supermarine Spitfires, probably at an airshow.

  • What's escorting it, and why?

  • @EFCSTUDIOS18 did u see the title it an airshow formation

  • I LOVE the 787!!! Its my favorite!

  • Seems like only a short time ago I watched the 787's maiden flight on the news. That is some serious wing flex....nice video!

  • absolutely love the use of the spitfire!!! 80 yr old aircraft still has a purpose

  • what amazes me is how much louder those Spits are compared to the airliner with far more powerful engines, lovely machines all

  • why at 2:32 were the two engines smoking so bad. aren't these brand new engines. you wouldn't think a set of new GEs would smoke this much

  • LOL, people insulting each other about which plane is better! I love youtube!

  • @dantiri well said hahaha

  • the master race!

  • lol. I'm surprised the escorting Spitfires are keeping up with the Dreamliner. (They are Spitfires right? The shape of the wing agrees with my knowledge of the Spitfire.)

  • Where was this?

  • @stitch16261 well in the title is says 'Farnborough Airshow'. So i dunno, i'm guessing it was in Farnborough :o

  • compression ration of those engines...... 50 to 1

    incredible

  • amazing plane, but still not as pretty as Concorde.

  • Woww... those engines produce the smoothest sound on earth!

  • OMG listen to those Merlin's

  • @Jordaxe12 Thats what a proper engine should sound like!

  • Comment removed

  • Boeing and GE are the best pair up in aviation history.

Keep on keepin' on guys :)

  • @GreatWhite85 Errrr.....i think you will find that the first 787 actually used the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 for its maiden flight.....

  • @TommiTdi Maiden flight, not production.

  • @GreatWhite85 I think you will find the first production 787 was fitted with Rolls Royce Trent 1000.

  • @TommiTdi I think you will find that the Rolls Royce was only used for the maiden flight.

  • beauty

  • How incredible quiet the Dreamliner is compare to a standard jetliner.

  • THE ENGINE LIGHT IS DESIGNED IN THE SAME WAY AS WHEN PIA INITIALLY INTRODUCED AND FLEW THEIR 747 100/200 SERIES AIRCRAFT. HOW COOL IS IT TOO SEE THAT EVEN IN THE NEWEST OF AIRCRAFT'S SUCH AS THE 787 THERE ARE ELEMENTS WHICH ILLUSTRATE THAT OLD IS STILL GOLD

  • You see that house on the background on take-off? That's where i want to live!

  • Awesome video. I see a work of art reminiscent of the Concorde. Bravo Boeing!

  • @tornadofireworks how can you compare this ugly plastic plane with the concorde ? you're full of shit

  • @UpInUrAss It's actually composite, not plastic. Perhaps Boeing would consider painting the plane day glow orange and circling all the windows with neon lights. Maybe then it would appeal to discerning types such as yourself.

  • @UpInUrAss ummm... concodes were fast but they were shit to...thats why their out of service

  • @StupidityPlus Concorde was the best airplane ever, and even if grounded, she remains the most beautiful aircraft in the world. White Swan FTW!

  • if it ain't boeing, I ain't going

  • @BQZip01Guy i dont get that statement

  • Jet was dog tracking down the runway...

  • Magnificent video. Thank you so much for posting it!

  • The spitfires were louder than the 787!!

  • Dude, this thing's so QUIET!! For a take off, is it like that when you hear it?

  • I love how the spitfires are making just as much sound, if not more, than the 787.

  • And you panned AWAY from the girl becaaaaause.....

  • will the 78 be replacing the 75?

  • Buy 787 and save money, or Buy A350 and save airbus...

    Buy Boeing.

  • pretty swoon ill be making the partsd on this plane ;)

  • 2:00 just beautiful!!!

  • ...Con dos Turbinas! que potencia!

  • boeing sucks airbus is the future

  • @ukipwarrior Did they explain the occurring cracks in the wings of A380?

  • The plane must've been empty, considering how fast it was able to lift off.

  • 4 RR engines spanning nearly 70 years! Amazing!

  • 787 is a plastic plane, good enough for all morons

  • @UpInUrAss correction... reinforced carbon fiber composite materials. get the facts before you go off on something you couldnt build. btw im 14 so how bout that up in your ass!

  • @StupidityPlus I don't mean to defend that guy, but technically speaking it is Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic. And there is a LOT of plastic on this plane.

  • @StupidityPlus does your mom know you're watching youtube ?? go get your cookies and glass of milk, kid

  • @UpInUrAss Do you know your a dumb ass. Probably not. All of your comments, comebacks, and you,ar e GAY

  • @StupidityPlus time to go to bed kid, school tomorrow. i'm not gay, i screw you mother

  • @UpInUrAss listen brit tit. go suckyour mom up and then well really talk

  • @UpInUrAss I would feel safer on a plastic plane buildt by boeing, that a plane you buildt in solid aluminium dude! That plane is buildt in composite material....

  • @ollo1982 you know the huge difference between metal and composite when overloaded ? metal bends a bit more, composite breaks off, no room for error, when the wing starts to crack, it's for good. Keep flying on your Boeing plastic plane

  • @UpInUrAss dude come on... first of all an airline wont overlaod a pax flight due to the safety of the pax... second, the 787 can take much more load than what boeing tells in their 787 stats... you do know that the Airbus A350 will be buildt in the exact same material :) soon you need to just stay home, because you cant fly on a plastic plane like you called it... after 787 and A350,most new planes with a new design will be buildt in that material... it's just as safe!!!

  • Hail to the Spitfire! Lot of symbolism there - American and Britain together - The Spitfire was designed, built and skillfully piloted by the British and funded by the Americans. A partnership that continues today.

  • hey! lets go sit in that burnt patch of grass at the end of the runway!

  • Eat s!it Airbus.

  • Love the rolls royce;-)

  • The wings dont flex as much in the 787 cause its made up of over 50% composite materials,, the flexing that you THOUGHT you saw are the actual wings in their normal state.

Look at your own video closer.

  • Stunning fly-past. Boeing 787 and Spitfire in formation. Who'd have thought it?

  • This is a really nice view of the old and the new. The Spitfires were revolutionary in their time and I think the 787 is just as revolutionary with the composite construction.

It shows how quiet the 787 is too as the Spitfires are clearly audible.

  • stim!

  • Boeing did a good job on this aircraft. It is truly amazing.

  • Wow! Boeing did

  • boeing and airbusses are both great!!! the only problem with boeings steering system is that the yoke gets in the way so you cant sit the flight attendent on your lap

  • @beaum1cah the airbus joystick is shit. the yoke at least is safe due to a wired connection, if i'm correctly informed.

  • @Yardieboss Are you a pilot or aircraft engineer?

  • @beaum1cah

Correct, Airbus only has joystick and plenty of room for flight attendant :D

  • Excellent video!

  • just a few hundred years ago or even a thousand years ago, THIS was thought to be impossible. SUCH A HEAVY piece of metal carrying hundreds of people, FLYING over OCEANS? incredible.

  • What was with the two smaller planes next to the big one

  • Can one imagine what the 797 will look like in 2042!!

  • What a spectacular sight, fantastic video man, BIG thumbs up!

  • love this bird.....

  • So beautiful :)

  • I don't care how well the plane was designed. That kind of wing flex is enough to raise alarm bells.

  • @Sonally4ever Only because you don't understand the design. Wing loading is something that must be dealt with. Watch head on views of take offs and you see that all jet wings flex in varying degrees depending on materials and design. AIr craft wings aren't super rigid by design. Like all modern jet liners, the use of composites have replaced metals in construction and flex differently. You want to see wings that really flex, watch a B-52 take off. and it's an all metal aircraft.

  • @GunBroker100 I've seen different airplanes with different wing flexes (including a B-52 at max gross weight), depending on the size and weight. And not once did I ever see any aircraft similar to the size of the 787 have their wings flex as much as it did on the 787.

  • @Sonally4ever Actually, the B-52 has a flex rate, at max take off, weight of about 12 feet at the wing tip. Especially considering the wings have to be supported on the ground. The 787 has elevated wings to start with, watching this roll out and rotation to take off, the wing flex does not appear severe. The design has passed all air worthiness and extreme service tests without issue for the design. I'm guessing it would not have been approved otherwise. The FAA is touchy about that

  • Interesting, when the formation flies over, the only Rolls Royce I hear is the Merlins. That jet is quiet.

  • where is this?

  • this plane is shit, i should know i worked for boeing for 26 years

  • @metal4ever1965 your shit

  • Interesting formation.

  • AMAZING. BILLION TIMES.

  • cool

  • In 10 years, this Will be my bird. I will be flying the right hand seat. :)

  • WOW! Such Beauty!

  • Nice video but wing flex is nothing amazing

  • The Spitfires are louder than the jet! Yikes.

  • @PolluteLessDotCom Great point

  • B787 is no longer a dream liner but a real liner

  • i would have sex with that plane

  • Nice job Spitfires keeping station in a stylish escort for that big girl.

  • The Boeing 787 Dreamliner departed from Farnborough Air Show with takeoff on Runway 24 on July 20, 2011 and returned to Seattle. Nice touch with the escorting Spitfires from Duxford. Good camera control, thanks for posting.

  • BOEING made Airbus go BOING ! :D

  • @Dranmal Boeing is the Best!!! -)

  • @Dalmocavalcanti best US crap maker. you're so right

  • @UpInUrAss YOU AND ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS ARE CRAP

  • @Dalmocavalcanti No they're not... I flew LHR to YHZ via YUL and return..... Boeing outbound, like a rattly old bus..... Airbus on the return was like a luxury limousine. Same operator each way...... I felt every bump in the Boeing...

  • @Dalmocavalcanti - Actually, while the 787 is beautiful, I think you'll find the legend that is the Spitfire is the best!!

  • @Dalmocavalcanti Why is that

  • @Dalmocavalcanti Except for their constantly failing landing gears. I am always worried about landing when on any Boeing-made airplane.

  • @Dranmal Boeing is the best!

  • wow spitfires? I would have thought they would have Mustangs, still awesome!

  • @Drewster327

Farnborough is in Great Britain so it's not surprising that they used Spits ;-)

  • @blablubb12345 you need to excuse him, he doesn't know what great britain is

  • such an ugly plane.

  • @UpInUrAss I think what you are trying to say here is: " such a beautiful plane".

  • @thisisadds no i meant what a fucking ugly pile of junk. If you can't read there is nothing i can do for you

  • @UpInUrAss Read my previous comment. If you can't spot the subtle sarcasm in it, there is nothing I can do for you. And how and why exactly is a Boeing 787 a "fucking ugly pile of junk"?

  • @thisisadds fuck translater ;)

  • big bird..

  • Farnborough is where its at!

  • The Strawberry blonde at the beginning is the best part... Beautiful airplane though.

  • @eolivine I agree with you :)

  • Interesting how you can only hear the chase planes when it went by.

  • boeing or airbus?

  • That's an incredible banking maneuver @ t/o only a couple hundred feet in the air.

  • If it wasn't for those Spitfires, there would have been several Messerschmidts on that Boeing's tail.

  • Beautiful!

  • Yeah lovely plane, just not quite as lovely as the VC10!

  • Totally awesome ..... thank you. :)

  • just WOW!!! Amazing physics!

  • I recall hearing that the wing-tips of a B-52 had 17 feet of play.

  • that was one fo the smoothest aircraft take off ive ever seen :)

  • Also tookoff before the centerline!

  • 787 Has pretty amazing wing to tube ratio!

  • BOEING > AIRBUS

  • I actually think that is just an optical illusion. The wings are made of carbon fiber that will does not have flexible joints. that is one of the main concerns of the 787. It will not show stress and wear until it actually breaks so they never know when to work on it.

  • And the good company of the two espitfires....

  • engine failure after rotation = cameraman will die

  • it looks just like a 767 big deal

  • loved how the WW2 Spitfires flew alongside the 787. It's such a great representation as to how far aerospace technology has come in such a short period of time. I hope when I get my AERS degree in a few years, I too, can help build something like this.

  • 11 airbus a350 fans

  • What a great sound!

  • They should call her.. Angel of the sky

  • I bet that formation sounded oh so sweet. =D

  • I'm in love.

  • Nice cool factor to this vid..

  • thats a fairly short runway....

  • boeing aircraft r the best.. airbus be trying to be like or be better then boeing which is not going to happen. all airbus aircraft are always trying to be or look like a boeing aircraft. i think boeing aircraft are much safer then airbus

  • the best video that i have seen and the best plane ever

  • amezing vid dude!!!

  • thank you for 1080p

  • Which airport is this? It has a GREAT viewing area, as evidenced by this video!! I would like to visit there sometime!!

  • really theres dislikes already??? people are stupid!!! @ Good video brah!

  • wished the 787 would make that amazing sound as when it's doing the formation flyby

  • Awesome!!! very nice view!!!!

  • Those Spits should move in right behind the winglets just to see what happen?

  • Gorgeous aircraft.

  • go spity's

  • Dreamliner and Spitfire: the most beautiful wings ever designed (so far...)

  • Such a fantastic video! The 787 really is a thing of beauty, espically when they takeoff, i reckon all Boeing Aircraft with the raked wings look like majestic birds when they takeoff, certainly do look alive! Great spot mate, keep it up!
