Their Lyrics: Everybody got to be a Cat Cause a cats the only cat That knows where it at Everybodys pickin up on the Feline beat Cause everything else is obsolete Beware of the square If he offers to share his milk to sip Now if it hasnt been tried We suggest that you provide Your own catnip I know some crazy birds who try to sing But a cats the only cat who knows how to swing A perfect dream of two friendly birds may be old hat Cause Everbody has to be a Cat!
Wow, I just heard "ever'body wants to be a cat" last week, and can't get it out my head. These guys are phenomenal. Some of the best jazz I have ever heard, even compared to Miles and Duke. Question is, I have a "big band" CD, but is there more jazz like this "everybody...cat"? Who plays typically in this style? I have never been able to really understand or like the serious stuff like Coltraine.
@hogie267 Having an African-Amrerican play an ape would have made the film be as controversial as SONG OF THE SOUTH. Louis Prima was a clever way of getting the sound they wanted. Plus I don't know if King Scat sounds right.
The originals, nothing beats the classic. I instantly liked Jazz because Scatman Crothers and Phil Harris showed me how good the music sounds and how happy it looked in the Disney movies.
Scatman was the best Jazz ever, How I wish we could meet him and shake his legendary hand. The guy gave one of the greatest voices to a wonderful Autobot.
I can't help but smiling during the whole thing, and can't help but be deceaved that I'm listening to Jazz from Transformers when Scatman is speaking lol.
This is the first time I've seen him perform music and I love it!

I like how they change the lyrics a bit. Shows they didn't went the cheap way and lipsynched to the movie versions.

It would have been so funny if Phil Harris would have done a "Shining" on Scatman with a big Axe. It probabaly would have ruined the evening though.
