  • for some people wondering. The only difference between the Triple Rectifier and the Dual Rectifier are 50 more watts on the Triple Rectifier.

  • okay, so what exactly does the effects loop thing do?

  • background music....turn it down...so we can learn

  • 8:10 cool umm..... Armbands

  • Nice Spain jersey. You an actual fan, or just wear the shirt?

  • Sevendust FTW

  • Why would you put such horrid music in the background to completely ruin what you are saying??

  • 8:10 PRS FTW

  • question. i know this might sound like an idiot question but do you have to buy cabinets with an amp head or can u just play through the head?

  • @pie5797 unfortunately, u gotta buy a cab with the head. I would say buy a combo amp if u r short on cash, but honestly I hate the sound of open back cabs.

  • @pie5797 its not a dumb question, yes you need a cabinet if you buy an amp head

  • silverchair's poster on the wall behind! hell yeah!

  • thanks mizike. once i get the money i'm buyin me a mesa dual rectifier!

  • whoa dude, easy on the steroids.

  • never mind........

  • somethings wrong with ur page it just stays bank black an i really wants to see it:) Pleas fix soon

  • silverchair's poster on the wall! great!!!

  • whats the difference between the dual and triple rectifiers ?

  • @megadeth1996 Another 50 watts and more gain.

    Single Rec=50 watts

    Dual Rec=100 watts

    Triple Rec=150 watts

  • he better i broke three ribs and gave him a cuncussion

  • does mesa make a triple rec. in rack form? and how much did you pay for yours?

  • dude i love mesa cand my carvin v3 sadly i havnt touched my mesa in a month and a half...mother fucker came up tovme after the gig and i was carrying the ead to the band van and knocked it outta my hands and started hitting it with a hammer...mesa boogie triple recs dont come cheap....all i got is my v3 for now but its a great amp you should get with one to try it out it beats the shit outta the carvin legacy clean channel if you tweak it right

  • @oAero210o does he regret it

  • poor as fuck so i cant afford one D:

    damn

  • i have the mesa dual rectifier aswell , it's like satin reached out from hell and touch'd it lol

  • man, shut up and play!

  • God damn the wait was the worth, that bitch at the end made me want to fuck my ugly girlfriend.

  • hey. my rectifier tubes dont light up whats wrong?

  • awesome review man! thank you!!

i must ask.. what is the background music? sounds fucking great! :)

  • turn down the music!

  • it's hard to hear him with the crappy background music

  • do you by any chance know what kind of specific tubes the triple rect uses? i know it has 6 12ax7's in the preamp and 3 rectifier tubes, but im not sure of the actual name of the rectifier tubes (as im in the process of building a crazy ass tube amp and im just looking for the best sounding tubes)

  • Magnets? How do they work?

  • hey dude, whats the background song? the screams are epic...

  • Excellent review!!!! good man!!!

  • PLS reupload this without music in the background, or at least quiet music..!

  • Can I get a good "Gothenburg" guitar tone through this amp?

  • can i use a midi cable to control the amp head for channel switching without using the external switching and does the midi cable have to be a 5 pin on one end and a 7 pin on the other end, and do i plug the midi cable into the gcx or the ground control pro thanks.

  • @craigferrari28 No, won't work. The Boogie has no MIDI so you'll need something like a RJM Amp Gizmo or RG-16. There are other devices that'll do it but those get some of the best reviews.

  • Comment removed

  • can you record a triple rectifier with a Tascam Digital CF Recorder? If so where would you plug the recorder in to the triple rectifier?

  • hey dude, then I can input the gcx midi output, to recto´s fwtch midi input? or ground control midi out to recto´s midi input????

  • so whats the big difference between this and the dual rectifier

  • @skillet000red the dual rectifier has only 2 rectifier tubes whereas the triple rectifier has 3

  • @skillet000red the triple has three rectifier tubes but the dual only has 2

  • Hi, i recently purchased a Mesa and after 3 days of playing it im pretty sure the fuse just blew. What should i do cause i think i also saw the power tube i was using on fire. Please help

  • how does this amp play at low volumes considering i have a 2x12 cabinet?

  • o_O OMFG!

  • Cant hear you over the B.S.

  • The background music really gets on my fucking nerves

  • That's awesome!

  • @brownhog72

whats awesome is mesa are the best fucking amps in the world!

  • @666Napalm666Death666 nahh my friend Marshall is second to none (specifically the jvm 210H)

  • @neutrino201 lol i like it its different. never heard metal reggae music before.

  • @neutrino201 haha..fuckin pussy

  • @chessinfantry yea and I bet your a real tough guy running your mouth over the internet :P

  • @neutrino201 yeahyeah is that it? cmon man, if we was face2face we could throw blows...but this is youtube and thats all you gotta say? ur a bore with no personality, probably cant fight either, ur wack

  • @chessinfantry "but this is youtube and thats all you gotta say?" lol, do you ACTUALLY take this silly internet banter of your seriously? I'm really eager to see what your next response is.

  • @neutrino201 BORING!! now go away whisttle dick

  • Oh my fucking god I can't even hear him because of the annoying, obnoxious music in the background. My god...

  • Awesome review..... I don't mean that .... Tern the shit in the background down so we can hear what the hell your saying! What are we hear for? A review or to listen to music? Whats more important to you? I know I wanna hear the host.

  • I was wondering who stole my Mesa!!!!!!!

  • you'd blow your speakers if you used a 150 mesa amp head with a 120 watt cab unless you never turned the volume up, but then that would blow the whole purpose...

  • yeah but you risk blowing your speakers if you turn it up

  • Honestly, who could possibly max out at 150W without having the cops called? XD

  • Learn to read, and no, Marshalls are not so great unless you're looking into the high end section, at least not for high gain/metal amps.

Line 6 is probably better for Solid State, they're extremely versatile but they're still shit compared to a good tube amp.

  • tALK LESS PLAY LESS BACKGROUND MUSIC AND PLAY INSTEAD OF TALK THE SOUND SPEAKS FOR ITSELF BUT GOOD TRY

  • You're stupid, he's reviewing the amp, not demonstrating it.

  • Stupid is as stupid does hehehe look here Mr. know it all Why would anyone review a friken amp without actually hearing the goddamn thing? Duh! No body gives a shit about a 15 minute boring retarded review we want to hear the fucking sound that comes out of the little black box with the speakers in it. But honestly and I am being straight up the Review was really, really, Lame, It lost me in the first 3 minutes.

  • Sure, I would expect to hear it as well, but it's a REVIEW, meaning he's going to TALK about the amp and it's features, if you wanted a demonstration, look for one.

  • Go PEAVY 5150 GREAT BOTTOM AND FANTASTIC CRUNCH

  • on the back what is best for a high gain heavy type sound

vaccum or silicon and spongy or bold?

  • all the good fuckn bands plays the mesa amps fuck the mesa is a mes haha lol

  • damni want a rectifier amp but theyre so fucking expensive

  • i just got a mesa dual Rectifier where do you have to plug the midi cable into the voodoo lab gcx to control the amp head and do you have to do anything to control it or just plug it in and it works thanks.

  • what's the differance between the mesa Dual rectifier and the mesa triple rectifier thanks.

  • Dual is 100 watts. Triple is 150. watts.

  • after 4 min of talk i just skipped to another video with guitar sound.

  • really nice amp.. but my wallet will fuck me from the rear side when I buy this beast ! :D

anyway, does anyone know what song is playing in the backround ?

  • wicked good

  • Can I record into Pro Tools directly with this amp????

  • @The7thL : Yes with the direct outputs/line out/ preamp out, - !!!BUT MAKE SURE TO HAVE A CAB CONNECTED!!! otherwise you will damage your amp

  • Puddin Hogs

  • I just have to say thanks for your helpful reviews you have helped me alot

  • Comment removed

  • you have the option of using external switching or midi

  • @craigferrari28 i see your trying to get a rig like Tom Delonge, aren't you?

  • @dsiphor98 yep

  • ladies and gentleman: THE HEAD!

  • Whats the average price for these bad boys?

Im in a death metal band and we need one of these for the tone, but I'd like to know how long its gonna take to get the money.

  • ~$1700 or so

  • Oh shittits thats alot of mulah...Well thanks for the info dude.

  • @thecollenator Most of the prices in the US for the triple rec head are about $1700, and the cabinet is $1K.

  • this or a engl fireball e635??

  • can't go wrong with boogie. i have this, and a marshall tsl 100. this amp is just beast. there are so many tones you can get with the standard tubes, and if you swap in different tubes, the possibilities are pretty much endless.

  • for me 150watts head is so impractical for home use. Even a small club its just too powerful. Anything past 3 is way too loud plus with a club PA its too much. These amps produce real tube saturation at high volumes

  • You, sir, need a power attenuator. I use my trip in a 10x10 with an attenuator. I turn that beast up to 7.5 and it's not even as loud as a small combo amp. The tone will pretty much melt your godamn face clean off.

  • but attenuators will wear out the tubes faster

  • that's not true at all. it wears tubes out no more than normal use.

  • well i just heard that somewhere, if it doesnt wear out the tubes then i should definately pick one of those suckers up

  • ya get on it man. I've had the same tubes in both my marshall and my mesa since I purchased them. I've gigged the marshall a crapload.

FYI - the marshall actually has one built in. You can drop the output volume by like 70% but keep the load on the tubes. I wish mesa had one, but whatever... no worries. Mesa is still my #1 amp and I've played em all.

  • An attenuator wears tube faster.

But it also allow you to get power tube distortion at a decent volume level :D

  • No it does not. In order to do so, it would have to create a bigger load on the tubes than they would have under normal use, which is impossible, because the amp only has so much power it can send through the tubes.

  • Wrong.

If you turn up the volume to get power amp distortion, and if you are getting more power amp distortion, it means that the power tubes are "working" more. That actually shortens their life.

  • And that's different than normal use how? It's not. Consult mesa boogie if you need proof.

  • I can't really turn up a 150 watt amp without an attenuator, so the tubes last more this way, but the sound is also worse :D

Of course using the same setting on the amp ... with or without the attenuator the tube life is gonna be the same :D

  • too loud? Its fun watching a beer bottle explode.

  • so this is the head thats out thats best on the market that u think that will give u a good rock sound?

  • No, it ain't the best on the market per se. It is all up to the player. Different people like different things. This is not the ultimate amp for everyone, but it is for me.

  • I'm going to go ahead and say it is the best amp on the market when you take in to account the amazing warranty, and the fact that these amps just don't break down. I've been in and out of bands for years, and I've never even met anyone that has had a dual or triple crap out on them (other than the rare tube failure, but that goes with any amp).

cool reviews by the way man.

  • Thanks bro! I love Mesas!

  • @mhaneline ive dropped mine off the cab rolling through a parking lot before a show (before i got cases) and it sitll works perfectly

  • im a big fan of Sleep and Mastodon; how would I tweak the amp's settings accordingly?

  • shape to get thebest sound with your ear. You'd have to hear the band live to really recreate their sound. Too many studio gimmicks to truly follow someones real tone.

  • Hay man when is that mk v review coming

  • soon...

  • Whats best of the triple, dual or the single rectifier??

  • none are better thn the other really. it all depends on what you need from the amp.

  • OK, So what if i want a really thick heavy metallica sound?

  • read about what they use and emulate them.

  • Hetfield is using Mesa and Marshall these days. I've seen that they've got Mesas, Marshalls and Randalls at HQ and they've been using them in the studio. The new Randall Kirk Hammett Model recreates some of them rather well, especially that signature clean tone. I've found my Marshall DSL50 can get the sort of tone rather well.

  • So what is the difference between the single dual and triple apart from watts

  • the single has no rectifier tubes (no rectifier tubes=no sag)

    its not technically a rectifier.

  • same sound, triple = 150watt dual = 100watt single = 50watt

  • why did you pick the triple over the dual?

  • when I went to the store, they only had triples...so I bought it

  • Can someone plaease help me!!!?? i bought a mesa boogie triple rectifier, and.. i turn it on, let it warm up, then when i turn the stand by switch on and hit a channel on the footswtich it makes a kinda loud noise like thunder, or a thud. it only does it the first time, then after that it stops. is this suppossed to happen??

  • it is a natural with the footswitch from Mesa...nothing to be alamned about

  • ok thanks! yours does it too?

  • when I use my footswitch it does...not with my GCX

  • Try switching through the channels before you flick the standby...

  • Dude!!! will you marry mee!!! i love you!!! i don't want to marry you because of your amp dont think that i really love you pelase marry me!!!

  • how much???

  • on the back you have that silver metal bar across protecting the tubes. is that something that came with your mesa? i have the dual rec and i just have a grill over the back. id love to just have what you have.

  • That is what came with my mesa.

  • if i wanted the level of my effects to be the same as if i was just goin striaght in the front end of the amp what would i set the level to on the back of the amp

  • 12 o clock

  • thank you very much

  • if you can't afford this then get a Peavy vyper 100 watt.

  • or save for this^^

at least you won't regret the peavey^^

  • Hey Brownhog72,

What do you think of a Marshall MG100HDFX Combo?

  • I think it is ok for a bedroom amp for a beginner guitarist.

  • good luck getting it, it's out of production. i wanted it too, but it's totally sold out everywhere. marshall came out with a lot of similar MG models, but the preamp on those are very basic and the overdrive isn't very high gain at all. you'll need pedals for some good effects. its a really good practise amp tho. hey, how can u go wrong with marshall?

  • hey mizike, love your gear chat vidoes. i have a question though. the current amp i'm running is a 90 watt head, and i'm just not getting the volume. i can hardly hear myself over my drummer and bassist. since the mesa triple rectifier is 150 watts, would this solve my volume problem?

  • A triple rec would definately solve the problem with a 4X12 cabinet. First, what kind of amp and speaker set up are you using with your 90 Watt amp? You can have a 50 watt amp blow your buddies off the stage, but you need the right speaker combination hooked up with respect to the correct resistance. I used to use my Mesa Nomad to play metal shows with a 2X12 on 50 Watts and I was way louder than everyone. It is all in how it is set up.

  • Well I've got a Crate GX900H going to a 4 X 12 cabinet. As I've said the head is only 90 watts, and it's going to a 100 watt cabinet. This is where I think I'm losing my volume because I don't have enough power from the head to power up the cabinet. I could be wrong though. That's why I was wondering if the 150 watt Mesa would help me out with my volume problem. Thanks though, you're a big help. Keep making the videos!

  • OK, your problem is that you are using a solid state head. That being said a 150 watt tube head would definately blow the doors off of what you are using. A 50 watt tube head would as well. Solid State power and Tube power are totally differetn animals.

  • I also thought that had something to do with it. Thanks for your help man. I'm gonna be trying to invest in a Mesa pretty soon.

  • you are a great human being

    THE HERBERT RULES!!!

    haha

  • The Herbert is the CATS PAJAMAS!

  • ...the bees knees man

  • Hi, I own a Triple Rec too. But I wondered: when I put it on only the first 6 tubes (left) are lighting up, is this normal? If so, what are the 3 bigger tubes on the right for?

  • Those are recto tubes, not power tubes...its normal

  • Thx!

I now have a Gibson Les Paul Traditional, but I'm not using any additional effects. What are you using?

I guess I'll have to buy a decent Compressor and Delay to get that 'long' lead solo sound for high note solos. Or anything else recommended? (Would a sustain pedal be better than just a compressor?)

  • I use overdrive, reverb, and delay. That is about all. I recommend overdrive most definately...and a good noise reducer.

  • Thanks, man. Nice to get feedback that quickly! :-)

So you combine your ampli's high gain channel with the overdrive then.. (I thought it was only the Mesa doing the job :-) ) Which overdrive do you use or would you recommend? (I have an old Zoom muti-effect processor but that one kinda sucks.)

  • If I got this head, would it still sound great through a line6 cab?

  • it depends.

  • I would actually rather watch someone explain this amp rather than reading up on it, I hate reading! lol. I traded in my old Carvin full-stack on this amazing head along with the Mesa cabinet. It is kinda tough to get it set right though, thanks for the video man!

  • i dont want to watch this guy rambling on about the amp, i clicked through this thing and everytime hes still talking. enough already! just play the damn thing! if i wanted to know how it works i would've searched it on google or something.

  • how does your little rant help everyone?

Watch part 2 for the playing dude. It is a complicated amp...I have to explain the details first. Don't be so conceited.

  • Thats why its called a gear chat you dumbass.

If your not expecting any chat in a 'Gear Chat' Dont click it..

  • hey hows the band called playing in the background? is it snot?

  • No, not Snot, it was a band called the Puddin' Hogs from Tampa.

  • how good of an accoustic sound can you get on this thing with the clean channel?

  • Like acoustic guitar? It will make sound, but you need an acoustic amp or a PA to make acoustics sound the best.

  • yea but i was just wondering how good the clean channel is on t his amp, like how close it can sound to an accoustic. i know its more for heavy stuff but i was just curious cuz im into a mix of heavy and melodic and accoustic so.

  • you will have to equip yourself with an acoustic amp or a PA to make it sound right.

  • ok. so would i be able to use both amps live, like if i started off with an accoustic intro with an accoustic amp, then with a foot pedal or something could i switch to a mesa boogie rlly quickly to go right into a heavy riff? pardon my ignorance, im just new at this. all i have is a shitty 15 watt fender.

  • sure you could.

  • sold my jsx, and bought this amp, fucking irreplaceable, love the vintage though for petrucci stuff, rokin

  • Holy shit! Look how many tubes are in that amp! I only have two in my JCM 800. I'm thinking of trading it in for a Mesa Stiletto Deuce.

    Worth it?

  • YETH!!!

  • What settings would I use if I was just a rhythm player. I like Stephs tone from deftones. I know he uses marshall stuff and there JMP1. But i have a mesa triple rec. What can I set my third channle too? For the second channle I want something kinda simaler to the third channle but half of the loudness.. Think you could help me out?

  • Settings are in the description...all you need is right there.
