I have a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology. My G.I. bill paid for my education. I've never been able to get a job in my field of study. It's a good thing that I'm multi-talented. I'm a HVACR tech for the school board.

College makes some people feel superior when they aren't. I also have a friend with a Master's in business;he can't even do high school math. Does that make sense? I think college is great as long as you only take the subjects you want to learn.Another friend of mine said the only reason they make you take all the &#%^ classes, is so the teachers who can't do anything else, will have jobs.

You speak the truth! I personally think learning is great, but you don't have to go to college to learn; there are other avenues to learn. Plus, if a person only took the courses that applied to exactly what they were studying, college would be cheaper; no speech, no lit, no history,etc.And I am sick of every college course requiring a paper, speech or presentation. My Dad with a Master's degree,had to pay people without college degrees to fix his car, his furnace/AC, etc!......continued....

Oh and what makes it even worse is the fact that you cannot DEFAULT ON STUDENT LOANS!!!! So your stuck until you pay...

Exactly... You ever look into how much COLLEGE COACHES get paid??? They make millions and the students get absolutely nothing... But Choc, try to do whatchu can and look through some scholarships or do some fund raising... Try to utilize your trades fam... I believe in you fammo, I know you can do it if you really want it... Your boy Ambition...

you need to go to the advisers at your college and have them fill out your declared degree plan with financial aid and then take it to the financial aid office and have them count the hours on that degree plan specifically. they may find that you have less than the limit of 45 credits. you should check that out. that happened to me this semester. I was able to get my financial aid after all.

They like to find reasons to deny students their financial aid within the last year of their education so they can keep all your financial aid. Its a way for them to make more money. They did this same stuff to me with my Associates degree. I had to appeal their decision all the way up to the president of the college.

Hey, my predicament is alot like yours. I graduated college in May 2010 and I've been at a standstill since. There's so much that's behind that story but I won't get into it. There should be jobs waiting SPECIFICALLY for the college students when they finish. It's totally unfair. This sort of makes me have despair of the rest of my life. Guess the best we can do is kiss it up to God.

You make some good points about alternate successes without a degree. Sorry to hear about your financial aid. But since you were already in Grad School, what made you take courses that weren't required for your degree? Did you not have an adviser?
