Why did they need to be involved with China in the design and manufacture of these speakers? Couldn't they, especially at these prices, keep the whole process from design to final speaker construction in Hope Arkansas and Eminence Kentucky?
@coolk1d917 if I had a lot of money, I would spend even those $31,000 on speakers. I would also spend plenty of it for turntable, power amplifier, and cables.
@coolk1d917 Many people, I just went to my dad's friend's place(meh), his set up was over $100 000. Which is not even close to what many people are paying for their set up.
@coolk1d917 a nice USED car maybe, If your asking why some one would pay 31k for speakers then you wouldn't understand no matter what I said. there is a reason though.
I own my very ...own Klipsch PALLADIUM. Very nice speakers. Great match for tube preamps and smooth sounding preamps. capable of quite high SPL all while retaining true fidelity.
The Palladium cannot be found at BB, not even in your dreams. Palladium are sold by audio shops who sell High-End. And anybody knows only lower end audio can be found at BB.
Horn speakers done right sound great and are capable of tremendous uncompressed SPL.
Back in the late '70s I was new to audio and believed the stereotypes about horn speakers. I would not have considered owning a Klipsch. 5 years ago I bought a set of Forte' speakers because the price was too good to pass up. Blew me away, it has a very flat frequency response, is very efficient w/ very low bass distortion. One of the best speakers I've ever heard and not a dome or ribbon tweeter in sight.
@r4m69 the only ones i found in best buy are the quintet's...and these are the lowest grade klipsch speakers. i think they are just trying to make money =). sony has nothing on the higher end klipsch systems dude
@DallasfuckingTT no they don't. the whole damn thing theatre cost 31 gram and best buy don't sell above 10 gram. They are very good speakers if you affordable
@DallasfuckingTT There's only 2 Klipsch Palladium dealers that I could find west of the Mississippi; one in Los Angeles and one in Montana. For how good the reviews are, I'd think there'd be a greater demand for them. But then, I think the only people these speakers really appeal to are die-hard Klipsch fans. Who is gonna spend $20,000 on a pair of KLIPSCH speakers; a brand you can get at Best Buy? I think one would rather go for Wilson or B&W. Oh, speaking of B&W, they're gonna be in BB soon.
@falkenlaser So because you can buy them at best buy that means the flagship is not high end? Your logic is screwed. They make different levels of quality for different consumers.
@DallasfuckingTT No, I did not mean that. Sadly enough, a lot of times when someone is going to buy $20,000 speakers, they're gonna want people to know they spent $20,000 on them, and Klipsch is not known as a company to make $20,000 speakers. It's recognized as a Best Buy company; one that makes average consumer-level speakers. And I'm saying maybe that explains why there's so few dealers around selling the Palladiums. There's much more Wilson Audio and B&W dealers around in comparison.
@falkenlaser Maybe by a very young generation, but Klipsch has been around for a LONG time and has been known for very nice sounding speakers that were made out of quality components. Look up speakers like the La Scala II, The Cornwall, and the Hersey. They have been making them forever and are well known for there great sound.
@DallasfuckingTT Those speakers are great (I got to hear the Heresys not to long ago. Way too bright for my liking), but they are not at the level of Wilson or Meridian; companies that have always made very expensive speakers, and are recognized as such. Wilson's least expensive pair of speakers are more than a pair of Klipschorns, and Meridian's least expensive pair are about as much. It's like comparing Citizen to Rolex; they both are recognized as making watches at different price points.
@DallasfuckingTT I think if Klipsch wants people to pay attention to their Palladium line, they first have got to sell them at more dealers. There's no way one could hear them if they only have them at 2 dealers West of the Mississippi, unless you lived near one.
@DallasfuckingTT OMG, speaking of Best Buy, Bowers and Wilkins, a really prestigious brand who's followers and dealers I've found to sort of snobby, is going to be sold in Best Buy's Magnolia room! It is very ironic. I was at one of the top B&W dealers in the nation, but they also sell Paradigm. One of the salesmen there I could tell really didn't like Paradigm, for he was all about prestige. And he said he could see Paradigm ending up in Best Buy. I wonder what he's thinking now....
@falkenlaser Buddy of mine has the B&W nautilus. They are SICK. I'm sure they have better speakers, but this room was set up very nice and boy did it sound amazing.
@DallasfuckingTT I bet it did. And those BTW are B&W's highest-end. However, and this was interesting. The same snobby salesman told me they arguably sound just as good as the 800Ds, which are half the price. And they require 3 amps, which really is unnecessary. So, the Nautiluses are just a showpiece, and that's really what you pay for.
@DallasfuckingTT Personally, I don't really care about the name when it comes to audio equipment. While I have heard the Wilson WATT/Puppies, and was floored, if I could find some speakers that cost less but sounded very similar to where I couldn't tell the difference, I'd get those instead. Heck, I'd like to see Paradigm get into the $10,000+ speaker range. What they could do would be AMAZING. They've already challenged JL Audio's Fathom subwoofers, and have done quite well.
I really don't know why Klipsch aren't more well-known. They make some of the best speakers in the world, and are pretty rare! Amazing speakers. Really really nice.

Theoretically, could one pay less than $30,000 for all the replacement parts?
generatrix999 2 years ago
.... so what's under the veneer, MDF?
$30,000 and no grill cloth?
generatrix999 2 years ago
Yes, MDF is acoustically the better choice (over solid wood) for internal speaker material.
Grilles (and cloth) included.
KlipschAudio 2 years ago
$30,000 is pretty cheap when you think about it. Why would anyone hesitate to mortgage their house and buy a pair?
generatrix999 2 years ago
People who have to mortgage their house to afford speakers is certainly not our target audience! Keep your house!!
This is an aspirational line, just like any other high-end luxury product.
Also, the Palladium line offerings start at $4000/pair for the bookshelves. Just FYI.
