  • how cool you have done well interesting land area where im from its all corn fields and few trees

  • How do you keep the government from screwing with you...especially in CA?

  • Oh yeah...to YourLoveLetter and Santos Regal: REALLY??? You have to pick a forum like this to bitch each other out? The sad part is - you two are the only ones who care what the other has to say. Don't muddy up something nice with your B.S. conversation. Be a grown up and stick to the subject at hand: Lulu and her homemade home.

  • Interesting! Very creative of Lulu. The story says her and her daughter. Who are those other three children out in the middle of nowhere??

  • This is a woman after my own heart. My dream is to move out into the woods and use only what I can make to build a house 30 feet into the sky.

  • Lulu, great job. The rest of you on this page shut up and go play cowboy and indian in the back yard.

  • that's pretty cool from the inside.

  • Of all the container home videos, this is my favorite. As she kept on talking, my smile grew bigger and bigger. You are an inspiration.

  • Just watching this is so relaxing.

  • This is the way it is meant to be, as far as i am concerned.

  • Marry me. A woman who understands low maintenance, financial freedom, simplicity and gratitude. I want to give you more children.

  • I knew she was not an American woman.

  • i would love to see any kardashians try to live on a budget like that and see them cry and wine like little lost wookie monsters now that would be tv worth watching

  • BIG Respect to you Lady for being creative and doing your own thing!!!

  • very nice home project

    so cute kids

  • wow inspiring.

  • more power to this lady.

  • are these people living in these homes because they can't afford a house?

  • @heckler171 Most likely, I don't think anyone would choose to live this way if they could afford a real house. When I was little I went to school with a kid that lived in a small shack, it was a pretty sad sight, he had a miserable life.

  • Your love and attention makes this place a home. You are very resourceful, and will likely always have what you need. I'm amazed and impressed.

  • What's the real story? 4,000 dollars for the house, sure, but the land would cost much, much more than that. How'd you obtain it?

  • WOW! Loving this. Great job with no real experience. would love to get about 4 containers and stack 2 on top for a split level bedroom and a huge bath. I wonder if Ga would allow this kind of construction. Quality time your daughter will FORever cherish.

  • The location is beautiful. Any idea where it is?

  • @ViolentMonopoly Looks like northern New Mexico. Maybe North of Santa Fe or Taos. Definitely high desert.

  • @isabstmr Im thinking the SF Bay Area possibly. MAYBE even Central Coast California. Santa Fe/Taos means SNOW and COLD for a couple months. Her water lines (green garden hose) would freeze, etc...She is someplace moderately warm. Either way a very resourceful lady. Her daughter is going to grow up with special skills and an outlook that most kids wont have.

  • I'm impressed with your creativity! My husband and I are preparing to "go small", also, in a desire to no longer be owned by our belongings. This will, in turn, give us the freedom to pursue our true talents and passions. One question: did you buy the beautiful land you're on, or do you have a kind friend or family member?

  • wow ...hats off to you all!

  • Totally Awesome~

  • This woman is my hero =)

  • The best is, Moon rise and fall and the time spent with ur kids even thought they are a constant question !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all count life as what we own and it ends up owning us. luv the portable heater and tub, u never can recline in the new crap they sell at the HOME IMPROVEMENT Store ! keep it up and re-post after ur green house is done...EJB inTPA

  • Great home. Very wabi Sabi.... beautiful family.

  • You are WONERFUL.. and we love you, don't let anyone tell you different.. Be creative, be happy, in all things you do.. That is Gods will...

    Sheila ~:}

  • I'm doing the same thing in Oregon.Great job good lady:)

  • im ready to move in.

  • beauty is as beauty does

  • I'm so inspired!

  • You are doing what we all should be doing. Wow you are great. Keep is up.

  • wat an inspiring woman, GOD bless her and her kids

  • How do you obtain land, or city lot for something like this? land is expensive!!!!

  • awesome , wish you the best.

  • If stress is the number 1 killer, this woman will live to be 100.

  • makes you re-think about what's do-able; the way we are forced to live as a society is overly necessary

  • Good for you society dictates that we live in a conventional house but this cost lots of money, and i agree with you that your daughter is more important and the time you spend with her.She will be a much more stable;natural and fulfilled person We people need to start getting our priority's right and not be so materialist.

  • Amazing Lady creating an amazing life for herself and her daughter. Brilliant beautiful soul.

  • How many times did she use the word "like" in this interview? Can we please tell these folks that the film, valley girl, is twenty years old and they can stop using "like" as an adjective!

  • Seeing those exterior doors at the end is a little jarring.

  • The nice thing about that setup is that it has room for constant improvement through improving the existing building and adding sheds. The difference between it having some class vs being a dark and musty shed is all of the windows put in there.

  • You are so creative and you need to get a good job explaining this to other companies for a fee. You did a wonderful job and maybe someone could help patent or something with this.

Second, where is the bathroom again???

  • Is this safe? I think you can visit a social worker and get a safe "real" home for your daughter. With all those openings and glass, how do you feel secure? Trust me, I love the outdoors but safety is my first issue for the kids.

  • u should really put some railing up top of the kids room..so none fall out ..but go going on the place

  • the spanish must mean she sneaked out of Mexico and thats typical living for her. Not impressed at all. probably food samps and checks for free every month

  • @gcoots1 I think it's great that in your attempt to slam at someone you couldn't even spell "food stamps". Way to raise the bar on being a redneck bigot.

  • @theonlyjaie Redneck is a racial slur that you throw around so easily. When someone says nigger you freak. Hypocrisy at its finest.

  • @gcoots1 I'm an american & ur comment is disgusting, if u mean she's on welfare by been an illegal alien, then ur wrong, illegals don't have SS#, there for can't access any benefits provided to citizens who choose to live on a couch drinking beer every day while watching Jerry Springer & only get out of their fully paid by the government rented trailer when they need to get to the doctor's office to fake a pain so to keep getting narcotics to sell them for more drug money! Sounds familiar?!

  • @SantosRegal Sorry bud, but while agree with you that most people are lazy, it is true that the vast majority of illegal aliens get government handouts by having children within the US border. The children have SS#'s so the parents get to mooch.

  • @elicash80 "Constitution states that anyone born in US soil, is American by "Birth Right"...Ok this is my contribution to your lack of knowledge...Now, I surely hope you're a "Native American" like I'm, because, otherwise, if it would have NOT been for the constitution, either your parents, ancestors or whatever they came here from, you might have been born in Poland, Kenya, Ecuador or what ever your ancestors came from, so please, tell me what reservation you belong to, and we can then talk!

  • @elicash80 And BTW, I do find your comment equally disgusting as the one made by gcoots1, and if the children have a SS#, is because the same as just explained to you: They are CITIZENS of this country weather you like it or not, at least their parents work and don't take from the government, now if their children do GET, then is just what they deserve for being citizens, I do think that anyone who contribute to this country and its economy, deserves a chance to a better life!

  • @elicash80 When europe discover north america the 10,000 tribes of illegal aliens were mostly exterminated, boflo sojurs played their role after 1965.

  • @SantosRegal I think it depends on the state maybe or? I know of an illegal alien living in the US who had children born in america, because her children were born citizens she was able to get government assistance for her kids, which she used for herself as well. They also are allowed to enroll their kids in our public schools.

  • @YourLoveLetter Ignorance is bliss, for you seems to be a hobby though....If they are citizens, that are by right just like you do too, entitled to have food stamps, and all an american citizen is entitled to, and YES, to answer your question, they can also not only enroll in school, but also military, and even run for president when they grow up, and when you grow up, you maybe able to run for president too, as long as you stay in school too

  • @SantosRegal I was correcting you. They're falling in through a loop hole in the system, you shouldn't be able to get citizenship if your parents are illegal aliens, that only encourages illegals to come here and have kids so they can stay and mooch off their kids government benefits. It's a loop hole that will soon be closed, you can bet on that. They need to get in line to become a citizen like everyone else. I've used illegal workers, cheap labor is nice, but it's ruining our economy.

  • @YourLoveLetter Tell that to the illegal pilgrims who came here, killed the people, took the lands & created a set of rules called: Constitution, one states that if you're born in the US, you have a birth right called CITIZENSHIP, just like your ancestors did, now, these lands were owned for thousands of years by the Natives, who today, most are dead & segregated into reservations (Those still in US territories) the remaining were just pushed away & are now mexicans, FYI, half US was Mexico!

  • @SantosRegal I am native american and very glad the european settlers came here to create something great out of this land. If it wasn't for them america would look like a cross between africa and mexico right now, ghetto and uncivilized. Native Americans didn't own any land they didn't even know what land ownership or a country was, most were nomads constantly moving, and constantly at war with each other. Reservations shouldn't exist, my grandma lived on one, they are disgusting.

  • @YourLoveLetter Sorry to have crossed words with you, I did not realize you're a child, and you don't know what you're talking about, 1st off, in they would not have come here, these lands would have remained to be the natural paradise that always was, 2, real native americans knew and respected the lands as their God, no one is really supposed to "own it", we all know an ownership of land is to generate profit off of it (Governments) 3 and last, nice try, if you are native, I am Marilyn Monroe!

  • @SantosRegal I am native american you moron lol. I have an account with bureau of indian affairs and my family is still affiliated with the little shell tribe of montana. It was never a paradise here for natives, it was a constant struggle for food and survival during war with each other and the spaniards/spaniard hybrid the mexicans. Governments are in place to create organization, and a peaceful governed civilized society. Mexico has a weak government thats why its being run by drug cartels.

  • @YourLoveLetter I'm done with you, I made my point, you are a ignorant lier, can care less if you are Martian, one thing I know, native american my ass, stop shaming my people, you only wish you were native, only God knows from what part of Europe your ancestors were kicked out of and ended up like the rest on the Mayflower crying and getting ready to kill the natives to keep their land! Go TO HELL!

  • @YourLoveLetter ...And, think of these: Maybe they're on the food stamp program, because their parents, are not allowed to work legally, and they still need to feed their citizen children, so they most likely are having a tough time making ends meet, so they round up their situation by getting their children what they're entitle to as citizens of these country, food & an education, once they're old enough to work, they will do & get off food stamp program, unlike most who use them to buy buzz!

  • What a beautiful home, the work she did with the windows and all the natural lighting in the main home and the bedroom/loft building are just gorgeous! I love her vision and why she does this. The investment in intellectual property verses owning "stuff". Inspiring! Thank you for sharing your world with us Lulu!

  • @Marravilloza, it'd be very simple to insulate by stacking straw bales around the outside and the roof...cost maybe 300 bucks at the outside to insulate and you could coat the straw with earthen plaster and it'd look like an adobe home.

  • I'm surprised the Nazi enforcement agencies of California haven't arrested her for some imagined health department violation. They lifted $10k out of my checking account without any justification. Owning property in California is dangerous.

  • @needparalegal Same thing happened to me but for less money. Use cash whenever possible.

  • yeah u wanna live less, spend less, consume less but u got so many kids.

    that very makes sense!

  • Thats fantastic Lulu someone who appreciates the littles things and gets rewarded with the special time you get to be with your children. Watching the video gave me inspiration to keep my future home build simple and not large, but yet elegant. Thanks!

  • Good for you Lulu. For anyone thinking a building a more conventional home, we offer free help at our YouTube channel, ArmchairBuilder

  • Having spent a lot of my life living on sailboats, including a few with far less space than this woman, I commend her for her ingenuity and creating a unique living space.

  • Good for you! You have taught your children to hopefully be self-sufficient and not rely on government and others.

  • @UnknownXV Whatever it is I "fail to realize", this woman seems to be doing just fine for her children, living the way they are, without providing what you may or may not define as the "best of the best". Who is anyone to judge who should and shouldn't have children based off of some idea of what amount of money is "livable"? None of us are qualified to make such judgments because her life isn't ours. This was the entire point.

  • What an inspiration! Totally top notch living! Wow!

  • I am curious where her little dwelling sits.... I might like to do the same if I had a peice of dirt.. :)

  • This is amazing..........Very very creative and the windows that allow you to see the sun and stars is great.........Keep up the good work because this shows people that you can still be happy and not have everything that main stream media advertises and tells you you need....

  • i think it was a good idea but i would have to check it for radiation before i touched it

  • I grew up a latchkey child. My parents were always at work, and yes, I had television, internet, and even an allowance to spend as I pleased. However, my parents and I have no relationship, and I don't ever recall having one with them. I had the "best of the best", but what good has it done if they were constantly working to pay those massive bills? If I ever had children, I firmly believe that this would be the way to raise them.

  • @Lalzies Because you fail to realize I am not talking about having a job to afford it all, but just having money saved. Don't have kids until you have money regardless of your job; because you can lose a job, no matter who you are.

  • @Lalzies awesome post is awesome!

  • Awesome women. Where do I get one?

  • @r3volu7ion there are tiny houses all over the internet! some of them are extraordinary .look them up ...i spend time looking at them and ive downsided a lot already...

  • This is amazing. More amazing....15 dislikes. Wow.

  • Amazing, well done.

  • all she needs is an engineering degree to her name and her life would be a whole lot different

  • why would anyone dislike this?

  • wowwwwwwwwww

  • did I see an iPhone? 6:36

  • it's a shame that the next video is LMFAO...

  • To be honest, I wouldn't mind living like her. It's makes you appreciate alot of the simple things in life and you save money on so many resources. And making the environment more healthier. Congrats to her, and she built it all by herself. Much respect! :)

  • Bravo to her! This woman not only has learned her own resourcefulness, she has taught her children that you can be happy with just the basics in life. She will in fact be a survivor when the world comes undone. Unlike the rich that can't even break their own eggs nor be self sufficient. God provided the necessary if we all take only what we need. Consumption and greed for bigger, better than the neighbor has destroyed both the earth and the ability to have compassion for many of her people.

  • IDGAF what anyone says the room that she sleeps in is sick i want that many windows so i can look up at the stars.

  • I am 66 years old but if I were around her age I would be trying to woo her. Fantastic woman.

I have been rich and poor 3 times in my life, Once I lived in a house the size of a garage for 5 years. Happiest time of my life. Then I started making big money and bought large home. Hated it.

Now living back in smaller home but every square inch is utilized for something. I have garden larger than home. I love it .

Best of all NO DEBTS. paid for.

  • @HomeInNetherlands hey dude watch this /watch?v=RFZrzg62Zj0

  • @ReDGamerZ

My name isn't Dude, you little shit for brains Americunt imbecile!!!

Now fuck off, and go upstairs . You mother is calling you to change the sheets.

Her client just left and they are all bloody because she is on the rag.

  • @HomeInNetherlands guess what, i'm not american and i'm not an imbecile but apparently you are because i wasn't referring "dude" as your name but as a term and if you weren't a hypocrite imbecile you would no that. dude is a term usually used to put emphasis in a sentence or phrase in these current times i.e 21st century. is also a word used in a sentence too prove a point. and by the way i'm not american i'm partly canadian and european. so stfu and stop trying insult me by clling my mom a whor

  • Hats off to this woman. My question is . who's land is it?

I have had huge homes when I lived in the USA. and actually hated it. Now I have smaller home here in the Netherlands but LOVE it. in the forest. and its paid for. no debts.

  • @HomeInNetherlands Heb je nog plek?

  • @HomeInNetherlands i too found myself wondering whose land it is?

  • @bucknessity I often wonder about really ethical ownership of land considering peoples princilpes, which are basically denaturing earth, breeding like cats, ruled by the personal opinions of bullies tyrants, lawyers etc

  • @uremainsrmin dear god... you people are so jumpy and agressive... you see a 10-min video of a woman raising her daughter in a storage container and you fall in love and get swept away like it's a fairy tale... and if someone pokes a tiny hole in your bubble you go crazy...all I'm doing is asking realistic questions... I didn't insult anyone and I wasn't vulgar in any way... you people need to calm down... if living in a storage conatiner is so great, why don't you all go do it??

  • @UnknownXV Harmful? Oh please! Harmful is not seeing ever your kids, harmful is letting your kids grow up thinking basic is harmful. Living like this makes you appreciate what you have and makes you realize that you don't need a mansion to be happy. You don't know her situation so don't be saying she needs to reevaluate whether she could of have them or not.

  • @Marravilloza It's not about the present, but the security of the future. If you have a kid without substantial savings that are not dependent on your current job, you are simply doing it wrong.

Don't have a kid unless you can guarantee you can provide for it. It's not complicated.

  • @Marravilloza well said, money and material items are not what is important

  • @Marravilloza I wonder what part of Cali is she in... Did they say?

  • Amazing Woman!! Love it fair play to her!!

  • I love it! I was thinking of doing the same but I live in Canada... It gets really cold.. But I'm def considering this

  • thats sad... you hobo

  • I don't know about the actual shipping container but I would love a bedroom like that. Like a room in a normal house with a my own room just like hers. It's lovely :)

And kudos to her cause she loves the way she lives

  • wouldn't want to live there, but i would be happy to "sleep over" in her bed ;)

  • to the cameraman - set your camera to progressive mode next time ...

  • no thanks

  • dream girl :) so cool so simple i love it , big garden and some chickens and home sweet home

  • With kids some fat cats could make their company look good & donate to her a couple of extra containers furnished to connect to her original box home.

  • How does she get ANYTHING passed with local or national building codes. if the city finds out about her they are gonna shut her down and thats a fact.

  • @sonofvabeach If your structure is small enough you do not need any permits to build. I'm not sure the exact square-footage, but I doubt it would be an issue in her case.

  • good management!

  • mad respect yo

  • Very intelligent and frugal. I like her style, not to mention that she has built, and will be building more, with flair. Two Thumbs Up. Of course the advantage is location. Try this in Manitoba, Canada. It could be done, but so much usable space would be lost in the winter.

  • wonderful! I really needed to see this right about now. As far as I can tell, she has her priorities right

  • you are such an inspiration! and the house... Amazing, and the views, Wow

  • Very intriguing, I'm not sure this would work where I live (too cold) but still... this has given me some ideas.

  • ghetto fabulousi wanna get like ten of those and make a ghetto mansion lol.

  • i love this. its so beautiful. would have loved to have been so close to my mother growing up.

  • new meaning of mobile home :) I subscribed, clever ideas ... elegant poverty and looks safer than huts I've seen! Would rather live in this than work so many hours in suburbs here

  • Nice, but don't try doing this in Ontario. You'd freeze for half the year, that inch of styrofoam won't do anything. That said, to anyone saying this is a terrible way to raise a kid: I'd respond that raising them in conformist, materialistic suburbia is much worse.

  • @abmackay well said.

  • Great channel

  • Comment removed

  • She is amazing!!!

  • Wonderful! thank you for sharing!

  • I've always liked small homes & never wanted any McMansion. This house reminds me of those you would see in parts of Mexico & Central America. I always thought them primitive before, but I can also see the charm of them. I love the closeness to nature she has, but if it were me, I would worry about security.

  • But this is California, she needs to have someone come out and make sure its earthquake safe . I few buttresses should make it safe .

  • house looks like a deathtrap. no electricity either el oh el

  • @7L There are always negative ones like you..

  • @7L yah all the doors and windows really remind me of a deathtrap el oh el

  • Practical girl, great ideas of what life is really about. And happier than a lot of people I know.

  • Will you marry me?

  • this chick is awesome. inspirational. children don't need worthless toys when they have loving family and a good environment! well done x

  • Philosophical wonder and on top of that beautiful. Wifey material indeed.

  • @T0rche A whole lot of smart people have woken up the mind-controlled zombie cult you belong to--and are trying to get out of it.

  • @T0rche On the septic tank, ever hear of an outhouse? If she homeschools she doesn't have to pay school taxes, if she doesn't, school taxes come from property taxes. She's paying taxes by proxy. If she doesn't have a phone, how would she be any different from another else who doesn't? Why does insurance matter at all to you? Why would someone steal junkyard items? What's stopping someone from stealing things from a traditional home? Would she have healthcare if she lived somewhere else?

  • @SkeikSprite Thank you for your composed and polite response... we could debate a lot but this is YouTube and not a forum... all I'm saying is that I find it strange that a woman has the CHANCE and LUCK to live in a first world country, but chooses to raise her daughter in almost 3rd-world conditions... but oh well... she's not hurting anyone and she'll live with whatever the consequences are (wether they'll be good ones or bad) so my complains stop HERE.

  • This is an amazing story. This is the American dream. Work hard. Do what you can with what you have and be thankful. Innovate, don't blame others and demand your "fair share"

  • Awesome! Is this a full length documentary? The home actually looks good. It looks better than many trailers people live in! This reminds me of "The Garbage Warrior" living totally off the grid in self sustainable housing! What land is the house built on? Was there any cost of using the land? Brilliant non-the less.

  • Jesus you're like wall-e.

  • amazing woman. I would put a ring on it. she seems in touch with her spirit which is extremely attractive.

  • I don't think all those kids are hers lol... just the one is her daughter. Looks like she had friends or maybe family over. It even says her and her daughter, not plural. I like when people act like smartphones are such a big deal, woo.. a smartphone, must mean you are rich... if not you're not allowed to have one? It could be a prepaid smart phone-ever think of that? It looks like a beautiful home. It is small, but I love how the breeze is flowing through and how carefree it feels :)

  • I would just need a internet connection and a tv and i'd live there.

  • @llieske did you even watch the video?

  • fantastic - an inspiration to me - an older woman! She has the right idea about childhood - love the comment that a child does not need pink walls and pink curtains to be happy! More power to you.

  • @gregarious Don't be such a penis.

  • Comment removed

  • She sounds like that girl on youtube who does mathematical videos.
