@twilightersluvemmett I remember seeing on a dvd extra or from a clip that Harrison Ford was feeling ill when they were filming this scene...and like you said there was supposed to be a big sword fight but because he felt sick at the time he improved and pulled the gun out and shot him because he felt to crappy to do the proper scene and the film director liked it and kept it. Thats what I heard at least.
