I understand that you may not like this song (I definitely appreciate your taste in music), but I always imagined this song as kind of  poetry (well, I guess all songs are poetry but moving on :D ), with the narrator passionately describing his euphoric love for a non-living vehicle, to the point he, almost tragically but humorously, chooses it over human companions, envisioning it as everything right about a friend without all the burdens of people.

Plus I like the drums in this song :-)
