@theshinigamiaxel it is an original rhythm created by Big Daddy G. and the Karma Master, which they dubbed the "Meneaito Rhythm". They created it in 1989. It features a double snare, and combined live percussion and bass against electronic.
@lostproduccion Esta canción fue de 10 años adelantado a su tiempo. El pasado y el futuro son cíclicos. This song was 10 years ahead of its time, so the past becomes the future and is cyclical.
@brgabofan1defannylu El Meneaito se registró en 1989 con la letra original y música original. ¿Puede explicar por qué usted está diciendo que es una imitación, o entendí mal.
El Meneaito was recorded in 1989 with original lyrics and original music. Can you explain why you are saying it is a copycat, or did I misunderstand.
@korben091 It is actually a rhythm created by Big Daddy G. He used a double snare (live) and combined it with an electronic drum. The rest is history. The genre has been classified as a Meneaito beat, which alot of folks call a Meneito beat. There was no Meneito beat, but the Spanish word for movement is meneito, thus the confusion between the actual song- Meneaito, and the type of dance "Meneito".

@heysven O.K. I am sure you wanted me to ask this question, so I will :-)......... what is it that you do not get? It is a hard driving rhythm that is easy to dance to, and in its original "old school" form is pure fun.
@heysven It is a double beat snare, with a hard driving reggae bass rhythm that is easy to dance too. Melody line is basic and clean. For some the genre remains a mystery. :-)
@meneaitomania : I'm one of the mysterons then. I don't knock, just don't get it. What's important is it moves you and loads of others so that means good to me.
@heysven I understand. Perhaps this will help. Reggaeton evolved from Rap in Spanish, which evolved from Reggae in Spanish. (Reggae in Spanish). It is a combination of a Jamaican Reggae beat combined with rap and hip hop with a trademark double snare. Because it is in Spanish, it is a favorite of the Latin World because its themes (lyrics) have "double" meanings.
@meneaitomania : What I mean is it doesn't evoke the same response in me as it does in you: the relationship you have with it. What I look for is different. It's got history, roots etc but it doesn't "move" me. Not right now. I can practice I guess...
@heysven I understand, and what you say makes practical sense. I am really into Trance, and Meneaito style beats. It drives my girlfriend nuts when I listen to these styles of music. She is into easy listening, and Country. What music moves you and makes your day just alittle bit brighter, that is what you should stick with. Happy Holidays and a Great New Year.
@meneaitomania : Cool, I kinda do Trance aswell. Thanks for not jumping all over me for my comments. BIG happy holidays and Xmas to you too. Take care now, and keep teaching people how to smile. Cheers.
@heysven Your comments were great. Once you explained what you meant, it all made sense. Check out the Mantra Bros. Very interesting East meets West concept as far a Trance goes. I really like them. Have a fantastic Xmas, and Happy and Healthy New Year.
@Lizzygnomes There is a new High Resolution copy of this video on the website. The song was played (and is still being played in most of the anglo clubs). Panama is more in tune with what is going on in the U.S. then the U.S. is. They know the trends, and upcoming trends in music before we do. A hit melody is a hit melody no matter what the language. This particular song was almost years ahead of its time.
I think meneaitomania is right on track! I still call that old school stuff dancehall because of the beat. I remember the Sonny Tape parties during the early 90's. The is in fact a big jamaican ancestry in Panama. Maybe that is why we panamenians love island music so much, like Kompa music from Hatian boys Tabou Combo.
I appreciate your comment. What you referred to as "Reggaeton" started its evolution in 1987, when Panamanians of Jamaican ancestry started doing Reggae in Spanish. There accent was unique because they had a Jamaican accent in Spanish. This evolved to Rap en Espanol, and eventually it became known as Reggaeton. The double snare beat started in Panama in 1987. Puerto Rico helped take the genre to the next level, and the popularity has gone back and forth between Panama and PR ever since.
Puerto Rico and Panama have gone back in forth in popularity ever since. :-)
@meneaitomania, sorry but you're right up to some point. Reggae in Spanish evolved to Reggaeton (only in Puerto Rico), but Reggae in Panama evolved into something totally different (and better): bultron, plena, pique, pasa-pasa, and other similar styles. its true that Puerto Rico and Panama have gone back in forth in popularity; the big difference is that PR reggaeton has become stuck with the same rithm, however Panamanian and Jamaican reggae styles and rithms are wide and always evolving.

@SofiiLxC Los bailarines de El Meneaito fueron seleccionados de los mejores bailarines de Panamá en el momento del vídeo. Algunos trabajaban en la televisión, estudios de danza, etc
Why is it that people always make such a big deal over such unimportant stuff as this original, that copy, what came first, chicken or the egg, reggae, or reggaeton, and...? Man, people, be thankful to the person that posted it and enjoy it. Dammmm.....if you can't be positive, don't say anything! How 'bout it? Caraaajo, Gaby, y ahi, ahi, ahi, ....

This is the original "hit", not a cover. Various Artists have done covers of this song, but they did not write it, or create it. No one is saying that Natusha's "copy" is not good. They are saying it is a cover and not the original. The video on this page is the original. There is no denying this. This is the worldwide, international hit, that helped start the Reggaeton Dance movement almost 17 years ago!

There is nothing wrong with Natushas version of the Meneaito. The point is, it is a cover "a copy." She did not write it or create it. She did a nice cover.
