yeah but would it work if you just used like a piece of plastic as the pad, atached the RB sensor to the plastic and added the magnet to the beater so that it registers a hit when the beater hits the plastic?

Yeah, but what makes this pedal so great is the rebound from the rubber pad. Other people have built wooden frames to attach the pedal to.

ok. so you could use a bass drum practice pad? (im asking you all this because theres a huge crack in my rock band pedal and it will probably snap really soon, the crack keeps getting bigger and bigger, cause i use the heel - toe technique.)

Um, why not just cut out a wooden cover for the pedal? I did it when I broke mine and it works perfectly.

hey, the yamaha pedal that you have on the link in the description, do you need a real practice pad or did you use something else?

That whole thing is the pedal -- the pad is the sensor for the Yamaha drums. Then I had to put another sensor taped on that would work with RB.

You are going to want a beater on the pedal for a real bass pedal feel. You may want to add that in eventually... just a thought. Nice video by the way.
